알루미늄 튜브를 이용한 액압성형품 특성연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Aluminum Tube Hydroformed Products)

  • In this study, the characteristics of aluminum tube hydroformed products at different extrusion type and heat treatment conditions were investigated. For the investigation, as-extruded, full annealed and T6-treated Al 6061 tubes at different extrusion type were prepared. To evaluate the hydroformability, free bulge test was performed at room temperature to $300^{\circ}C$. Also mechanical properties of hydroformed products at various pre- and post-heat treatments were estimated by hexagonal prototype hydroforming test at $250^{\circ}C$. And the tensile test specimens were obtained from hexagonal prototype hydroformed tube. As a results, hydroformability of full annealed tube is $5{\sim}8%$ higher than that of extruded and T6-treated tube. The tensile strength and elongation of T6-post heat treated indirect extrusion tube were more than 330MPa and 12%, respectively. However, T6 pre treated hydroformed product represents high strength, 330MPa and low elongation, 8%. Therefore, Hydroformability of Al6061 tube showed similar value for both extrusion types. However flow stress of direct tube showed $20{\sim}50MPa$ lower value than indirect tube.

  • The bending phenomenon during extruding one product using four billets can be obtain by the difference of hole diameters in the multi-hole container. The difference of hole diameter caused the difference of billet amount inserted in the die cavity. As results, it can bend during extruding products by the different amount of two billets and by the cohesion of billets in the porthole dies cavity. And the bending curvature can be controlled by the size of holes and billets. The experiments using aluminium material had been done for the rectangular and square curved tube product. The results of the experiment show that the curved aluminum tube product can be bended by the extru-bending process without the defects such as the distortion of section and the thickness change of the wall of tube and the folding and wrinkling. The curvature of product is affected by shape of cross section and the difference of billet diameters. It is known that the welding and extruding and bending can be done simultaneously in the die cavity when a rectangular hollow curved tube would be extruded by porthole dies using four different size billets made of aluminum material.

  • The application of light weight materials, such as aluminum alloy, has been limited due of their poor formability. Especially, aluminum alloy tube has limited expansion capability at most 15% at room temperature. New manufacturing process, called hot air forming, is introduced to apply aluminum tube to the automotive suspension components which have complex shape and require high expansion ratio about 40%. The process is carried out at the elevated temperature above $500^{\circ}C$, so numerous material properties and process parameters related to the high temperature should be investigated and determined to get a sound product. In this study, the effect of thermal properties and forming parameters such as the temperature of tool, axial feeding and gas pressure are analyzed by using explicit finite element method.

  • Recently social demands of fuel economy and environmental regulations require the development of lightweight components and new manufacturing technologies. The aluminum tube hydroforming is a manufacturing process which can provide lightweight components as automotive parts. In this paper, the hydroformability of aluminium tube in different condition of bending process is presented. An investigation has been conducted on how to control the deformed shape and its effect on thinning distribution after hydroforming by using finite element simulation. Finite element simulation of tube hydroforming for automotive trailing arm is carried out to explore the effect of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional bending.

New manufacturing process, called hot air forming, is introduced to apply aluminum tube to the automotive sub frame components which have complex shape and require high expansion ratio about 40%. The process is carried out at the elevated temperature above $500^{\circ}C$, so numerous material properties and process parameters related to high temperature should be investigated and determined to get a sound product. In this paper, the hot air forming process of automotive sub frame was investigated. The effect of the forming parameters such as the temperature of tool, axial feeding and gas pressure are analyzes by using explicit finite element method.

  • A nitrogen gas atomized aluminum powder was consolidated by powder-in sheath rolling method. A pure aluminum tube with outer diameter of 12 mm and wall thickness of 1mm was used as a sheath. The aluminum tube filled with the aluminum powder, first, was cold-rolled to the thickness of 6mm for performing, and then consolidated by the cold rolling and/or subsequent hot rolling at 360, 460 and $560^{\circ}C$. The aluminum powder compact fabricated by the sheath rolling showed high relative density more than 0.96 at any rolling conditions. The 0.2% proof stress increased with increasing hot rolling reduction and hot rolling temperature. Tensile strength was hardly affected by change in the hot rolling reduction, whereas it decreased with increasing hot rolling temperature. The powder compact showed the large elongation when cold rolling or hot rolling reduction was large. It was found that the sheath rolling was an effective method for consolidation of aluminum powder.

초소수성 코팅 튜브에서의 비응축가스 영향에 대한 응축 열전달 연구 (The effects of non-condensable gas on condensation heat transfer on a super-hydrophobic surface tube)

  • 본 연구의 목표는 수평 관외 초소수성 튜브에서 비응축가스(NCG)의 영향을 관찰하고, 이를 일반 알루미늄 튜브의 응축 현상과 비교하는 것이다. 초소수성 튜브 제작을 위해 Self-Assembled Monolayer(SAM) 코팅으로 알루미늄 튜브의 외부를 표면개질 했다. 응축 성능을 나타내기 위해 총합 열전달계수를 사용하였고, 이 값으로 응축 성능을 비교 검토하였다. 본 연구의 주요 변수는 비응축가스 질량 분율로, 0.08에서 0.45의 범위에서 실험을 진행하였다. 응축 실험을 통해 비응축가스 질량 분율이 낮아질수록 응축 성능이 SAM 튜브와 일반 튜브에서 모두 향상되는 것을 확인했다. SAM 튜브에서 적응축 열전달 성능은 일반 튜브 대비하여 평균 약 1.9배에서 2.5배 정도 큰 것을 관찰하였다. SAM 튜브에서 비응축가스 질량 분율이 낮아지면서 응축 성능 상승폭이 감소하게 되는데, 이는 Flooded 응축 현상이 발현되었기 때문이다. 응축이 더 활발하게 진행되면 SAM 튜브에서 막응축이 일어나는 것을 관찰하였고, 이 때 성능은 일반 알루미늄 튜브보다도 저하된 성능을 보였다. SAM 알루미늄 튜브에서 Flooded 응축과 막응축이 일어나는 원인으로 표면에서의 Pinning 효과를 이용하여 설명하였다. 결론적으로, SAM 튜브를 실제 응축기에 적용해 표면개질로 인한 응축 성능 개선 효과를 얻기 위해서는 적응축 또는 Flooded 응축이 일어나는 조건으로 응축기 내 환경 조성을 해야 한다.

토너카트리지 OPC 드럼용 Al 튜브의 응력 및 변형거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Stress and Displacement Behaviors of an aluminum Tube in OPC Toner Cartridge)

  • The stress and displacement behavior analysis of an aluminum tube for an organic photo conductor drum has been presented using a finite element analysis technique by non-linear FEM program. The maximum displacement in the radial direction of OPC drum may directly affect to the quality of printed matter. Thus, the deformed profile of the aluminum tubes should be limited depending on the toner powder size and the contact rolling forces between an OPC drum and a paper. This paper recommends the critical loading of 400 Pa for the provided toner size, $8{\mu}m$ for excellent printed matters and long life of the toner cartridge.

가정용 공조기의 응축기 적용 알루미늄 열교환기의 성능 평가 (Performance evaluation of brazed aluminum heat exchangers for a condenser in residential air-conditioning applications)

  • The evaluation of aluminum flat tube and louver fin heat exchangers for a condenser in residential air-conditioning applications has been conducted. A series of tests for two-different brazed aluminum heat exchangers was performed and the results were compared with conventional fin and tube heat exchangers for residential air-conditioning system. Refrigerant charge amount for a window-system air-conditioner with the brazed aluminum condenser is decreased by 35% and the volume and material of heat exchanger can be reduced by 50% compared to the conventional fin and tube heat exchangers.
