해양환경용 알루미늄 합금 재료의 전기화학적 부식 손상 특성 (Electrochemical Corrosion Damage Characteristics of Aluminum Alloy Materials for Marine Environment)

  • In this study, various electrochemical experiments were carried out to compare the corrosion characteristics of AA5052-O, AA5083-H321 and AA6061-T6 in seawater. The electrochemical impedance and potentiostatic polarization measurements showed that the corrosion resistance is decreased in the order of AA5052-O, AA5083-H321 and AA6061-T6, with AA5052-O being the highest resistant. This is closely associated with the property of passive film formed on three tested Al alloys. Based on the slope of Mott-Schottky plots of an n-type semiconductor, the density of oxygen vacancies in the passive film formed on the alloys was determined. This revealed that the defect density is increased in the order of AA5052-O, AA5083-H321 and AA6061-T6. Considering these facts, it is implied that the addition of Mg, Si, and Cu to the Al alloys can degrade the passivity, which is characterized by a passive film structure containing more defect sites, contributing to the decrease in corrosion resistance in seawater.

  • This paper shows mechanical properties and behaviors of macro- and micro-structures on friction stir welded specimen with 6061-T6 aluminum alloy plate. It apparently results in defect-free weld zone jointed at welding conditions like the traverse speed of 267mm/min, tool rotation speed of 2500rpm, pin inserted depth of 4.5mm and tilting angle of $2^{\circ}$ with tool dimensions such as tool pin diameter of 5mm, shoulder diameter of 15mm and pin length of 4.5mm. The tensile stress ${\sigma}_T=228MPa$ and the yield point ${\sigma}Y=141MPa$ are obtained at the condition of traverse speed of 267mm/min and tool rotation speed of 2500rpm. With the constant rotation speed, the higher traverse speed become, the higher tensile stress and yielding point become. Vickers hardness for welding zone profile were also presented.

다구찌법을 이용한 복합소재 수소연료탱크의 최적설계에 관한 연구 (On the Optimized Design of a Composite Hydrogen Fuel Tank using Taguchi Method)

  • 본 연구에서는 70MPa의 충전압력을 갖는 130L 수소연료 저장탱크에 대한 최적설계를 유한요소법과 다구찌 설계법으로 고찰하였다. 6061-T6의 알루미늄 라이너의 외벽면에 T800-24K의 탄소섬유로 감아서 제조한 복합소재 연료탱크의 강도안전성을 미국 DOT-CFFC와 KS의 설계안전 규격을 기준으로 해석하였다. 70MPa용 수소가스탱크의 응력강도에 대한 FEM 해석결과에 의하면, US DOT-CFFC와 KS 규격에서 제시한 응력비 2.4의 기준값과 비교할 때 안전한 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 다구찌 설계법에 기반한 최적설계 데이터는 설계모델 5번으로 선정할 수 있고, 여기서 제시할 수 있는 알루미늄 라이너의 두께는 6.4mm, 탄소섬유 적층에서 후프방향의 두께는 31mm, 헤리컬방향의 두께는 10.2mm이다.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the mechanical properties of 6061 Al foams, which were fabricated by P/M and multi-step induction heating method, and to build the database, which is needed for computer aided modeling or foam components design. Aluminium foams, consisting of solid aluminium and large quantities of porosities, is widely used in automotive, aerospace, naval as well as functional applications because of its high stiffness at very low density, high impact energy absorption, heat and fire resistance, and greater thermal stability than any organic material. In this study, 6061 Al foams were fabricated for variation of fraction of porosities (%) according to porosities (%)-final heating temperature ( $T_{a3}$) curves. Mechanical properties such as compressive strength, energy absorption capacity, and efficiency were investigated to evaluate the feasibility of foams as crash energy absorbing components. Moreover, effect of the surface skin thickness on plateau stress and strain sensitivity of the 6061 Al foams with low porosities (%) were studied.d.

알루미늄 홀 가공 하중 분석을 통한 펀치 마모수준 예측에 관한 연구 (A study on the prediction of punch wear level through analysis of piercing load of aluminum)

  • The piercing process of creating holes in sheet metals for mechanical fastening generates high shear force. Real-time monitoring technology could predict tool damage and product defects due to this severe condition, but there are few applications for piercing high-strength aluminum. In this study, we analyzed the load signal to predict the punch's wear level during the process with a piezoelectric sensor installed piercing tool. Experiments were conducted on Al6061 T6 with a thickness of 3.0 mm using piercing punches whose edge angle was controlled by reflecting the wear level. The piercing load increases proportionally with the level of tool wear. For example, the maximum piercing load of the wear-shaped punch with the tip angle controlled at 6 degrees increased by 14% compared to the normal-shaped punch under the typical clearance of 6.7% of the aluminum piercing tool. In addition, the tool wear level increased compression during the down-stroke, which is caused by lateral force due to the decrease in the diameter of pierced holes. Our study showed the predictability of the wear level of punches through the recognition of changes in characteristic elements of the load signal during the piercing process.

  • The mechanical jointing method is very important in the machine parts and structure. They are used by the bolts and rivet because it is very convenient to replace the parts and the structure. However, the mechanical jointing methods using the bolt and rivet needed the open hole. The machine parts life cycle is reduced because this open hole created the stress concentration. Therefore, the measurement methods are needed to evaluate phenomenon of the stress concentration. This paper discusses the development of the measurement algorithm using the digital image correlation methods to measure the strain distribution of the open hole. To implement the measurement algorithm using the DIC, the LabVIEW 2010 programming tool was used. To measure the strain distribution of the open hole, the tensile specimens having an open hole are made by using the aluminum 6061-T6. To secure the reliability of measurement result using the DIC, the DIC measurement results and FEM analysis results were compared.

소형펀치시험법을 이용한 알루미늄 6061-T6 Type-3 용기 라이너의 파괴인성 평가 (Evaluation of Fracture Toughness Using Small Punch Test for Aluminum 6061-T6 Type-3 Cylinder Liner)

  • Type-3 용기 라이너는 두께가 5 mm일뿐 아니라 곡률을 가지고 있기 때문에 파괴인성시험을 위한 표준형 시편의 제작에 어려움이 있다. 따라서 용기 라이너의 파괴인성을 평가하기 위해서는 소형시편 시험기법이 도입되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 용기 라이너의 파괴인성을 평가하기 위해 소형펀치(small punch, SP)시험법을 도입하였다. SP시험으로부터 측정된 하중-변위 곡선 결과에서 라이너 재료는 연성이 소진하여 막신장 영역에서 파손되었다. 라이너 재료는 제작공정 특성에 기인하여 소성변형량이 방향에 따라 다름에도 불구하고 등방성 파괴양상을 보였다. SP시험 데이터를 사용하여 파괴인성을 평가한 결과 $J_{Ic}=13.0kJ/m^2$ 이었다. 이 값은 동종재료의 파괴인성 값과 유사하다. 따라서 SP시험 데이터를 사용하여 평가한 파괴인성은 타당하며, 완성된 용기 라이너는 유효한 파괴인성 값을 유지하는 것으로 확인 되었다.

  • For the evaluation of corrosion resistance of Al 6061-T6 alloy, Tafel method and immersion test was performed with Friction Stir Weld(FSW) and Gas Metal Arc Weld(GMAW). The Tafel and immersion test results indicated that GMA weld was severely attacked compared with those of friction stir weld. It may be mainly due to the galvanic corrosion mechanism act on the GMA weld.

6xxx계 알루미늄 합금의 경질 아노다이징 피막 형성 특성 연구 (Formation Characteristics of Hard Anodizing Films on 6xxx Aluminum Alloys)

  • In this work, anodizing behavior of 6xxx series aluminum alloys was studied under constant current density and constant voltage conditions in 20% sulfuric acid solution by V-t curves, I-t curves, thickness measurement, observations of surface appearance and cross-sectional observation of anodizing films. The film growth rate of the anodizing films on Al6063, Al6061 and Al6082 obtained at 20 V were $0.63{\mu}m/min$. $0.46{\mu}m/min$ and $0.38{\mu}m/min$, respectively. Time to the initiation of imperfections at the oxide/substrate interface under constant current condition was shortened and colors of anodizing films became darker with the amount of alloying elements in 6xxx series aluminum alloys. Based upon the experimental results obtained in this work, it is concluded that maximum anodizing film thickness without interfacial defects is reduced with increasing amount of alloying elements and brighter anodizing films can be obtained by decreasing amount of alloying elements in the aluminum alloys.

차량용 복합소재 수소연료탱크의 강도안전성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Strength Safety of a Composite Hydrogen Fuel Tank for a Vehicle)

  • 본 연구에서는 미국의 DOT-CFFC와 한국의 KS 기준에 근거하여 수소가스 복합소재 연료탱크에 대한 강도안전성을 FEM으로 해석하였다. 알루미늄 라이너 소재인 6061-T6와 탄소섬유 복합소재인 T800-24K로 적층이 형성되도록 감은 수소가스 복합소재 연료탱크는 130L의 저장용량을 갖으며, 70MPa의 충전압력으로 수소가스가 채워진다. FEM 해석결과에 의하면, 내부탱크를 형성하는 알루미늄 라이너에 작용하는 von Mises 응력 255.2MPa은 알루미늄 소재의 항복응력 대비 95%인 272MPa보다 낮기 때문에 안전하다. 또한, 복합소재 연료탱크에서 후프방향의 탄소섬유 응력비는 3.11이고, 헤리컬방향의 응력비는 3.04인 것으로 나타났다. 이들 응력비 데이터는 탄소섬유 복합소재 연료탱크에서 안전기준으로 권고한 2.4에 비해 높기 때문에 양방향 모두에서 안전하다. 따라서 70MPa의 충전압력을 갖는 130L 저장용량의 복합소재 연료탱크에 대한 강도안전성은 유용한 것으로 판단된다.
