The development paradigm based on modernization theory and economic growth since the WWII reached an impasse in the 1980s. As an alternative, the new perspective on development as a whole social development beyond economic growth has emerged, and culture as an important method for as well as a approach to development has been emphasized. Post-development theories destruct the European development concept and suggest alternative developments emphasizing culture restoration, endogenous growth, diversity, and neopopulist developments movement emphasize community, gender, ownership, and participation. International Organizations such as UNESCO have also examined and developed the relations between culture and development. Although different from that of the past development paradigm, acknowledging other cultures, however, this elaborated concept of culture has some limitations and need to be reconceptualized through applying the geographical concept of 'relational place.' The concept of relational place can help recognize internal diversity within culture and community and link them to a broader economic and political contexts.

Background and Aim : Health care and cosmetics as well as quality of life is now a matter of concern and many categories of complementary and alternative medicine fall into the territory of the medical practice of Korean medicine. Accordingly, penalties are being taken for unlicensed medical practices of Korean medicine in so called complementary and alternative medicine area. There is a possibility of violating the law for the public part because it is not clearly stipulated in the law as to what is a licensed medical practice. Materials and Method : The significance of the Medical Service Act and the Act on Special Measures for the Control of Public Health Crimes were reviewed, and the related supreme court cases were discussed upon the legal aspect of processing the unlicensed medical practice of Korean medicine. The legal information was provided from the National Law Information Center of the Ministry of Government Legislation, and the information websites of the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court. Results : The concept of medical practice, which is essential in judging the case of unlicensed medical practice, is 'prevention and treatment of diseases through diagnosis, examination, prescribing, medication, or surgical procedures based on medical expertise', and the 'acts that may result in harm and injury of health unless performed by a medical person'. With respect to the medical practice of Korean medicine, the concept includes 'prevention and treatment of diseases using the principle of traditional Korean Medicine'. Conclusions : The concept of medical practice should be clearly stipulated in the law for the control over the unlicensed medical practices of Korean medicine. And it is important to move from the current concept of medical person-oriented medical practice emerging from the national system of healthcare control, to a concept that can accept the era of health managing-oriented medical environment and the co-governance of the healthcare providers and consumers for the future.

Nanotechnology, which has become an important area of science, has caused an enormous developmental revolution in many fields. In the last two decades researchers have focused on overcoming the obstacles encountered during the preparation of nanoparticles. This article highlights the nanotechnology, along with a brief description of the manufacturing, concepts and activities of nanoparticles as alternative pesticides against plant pathogens, some methods for evaluation of nanoparticles against phytopathogens in vitro and in vivo, and explains the importance of some common nanoparticle types used in agricultural applications and plant pathology.

On the basis of the review of radiobiological date, a formalism is developed for the analysis and prediction of iso-effect relations for tissue tolerance, which can be used as an alternative to the norminal standard dose(NSD) formaula of Ellis and its derived equations. An important feature of the described formalism is that directly based on radiobiological insights and it provides a more logical concept to account for the diversity of tissue responses. The NSD concept has subsequently been extended to the formalisms of timedose-fractionation(TDF) value. The authors deriveded TDF equation on the basis NSD of Ellis. TDF=0.07(NSD)-26.

The concept of fuzzy sets was introduced by Zad도 in his highly influential paper [5]. Using this concept, Chang [1] introduced a notion of fuzzy topological spaces which formally is the same one as for ordinary topological spaces. Observing that with Chang's definition constant maps between fuzzy topological spaces are not necessarily continuous, Lowen [2] gave an alternative and more natural definition for a fuzzy topological spaces and characterized the fuzzy compact spaces by means of prefilters in [4]. In this paper we give new characterizations of fuzzy compact spaces introduced in [2]. These results explain more clearly fuzzy compactness in fuzzy topological spaces.

The concept models are used for the analysis of joints because they are simple to use and accurate. The modeling parameters of concept models are estimated using the results of experiments performed on the joints. The concept joint models accurately describe the behavior of joints under the loads which are used in the experiments for the estimation of parameters. However, they may not be accurate under the loads which are not used in the experiments. The accuracy can be dependent on the loads which are used in the evaluation of accuracy. In this study, antioptimization is presented to find the worst possible loads, under which the accuracy of concept joint models can be evaluated. The procedure was applied to the accuracy evaluation of concept joint models in an isolated 3-D joint and 2-D joints of a vehicle structure.

The context and intuitive understanding is very important in Statistics Education. Especially, there is a need to mitigate student's difficulty in studying probability density function. One of teaching method this concept is to using relative frequency histogram. But, as using this method, we should know several problems included in that. This study investigate problems in the method for teaching probability density function as gradual meaning of histogram. Also, as alternative approach, this thesis introduce the density curve concept. The application of four methods to teach the concept of the probability density function and analysis of the survey result is done in this research.

This study aims to review legal problems of similar medical practice and suggest methods of improvement. Similar medical practice refers to all medical practices conducted in the state that human qualification is not fulfilled. It may cause serious damages on health and lives of national people. Currently, similar medical practices are recognized as unlicensed medical practices and prohibited based on the Medical law and additionally punished by then special law in Korea. However, the current Medical Law does not provide clear and accurate concept of medical practices so that it is difficult to regulate similar medical practices. The issue of complementary and alternative therapy related to similar medical practices is also in special state different from other countries. In addition, since similar medical practices lack of evidences in terms of safety, the dangerousness of accidents is high and it may affect badly on health of national people and health care policies. Methods of improvement in order to resolve problems regarding similar medical practices are: first, concept and scope of medical practice should be clear, accurate and concrete. Second, complementary and alternative therapies related to similar medical practices need to be strictly examined and the supervisory right should be given to doctors should be given even though a part of it is allowed. Third, research institutes specialized in the field should be established for scientific examination of complementary and alternative therapy and objective research results should be open to the public. Finally, since damage cases caused by similar medical practices by non-medical personnel, national management and supervision for similar medical practices should be reinforced.

The purpose of this research is to find out if it is possible to apply the Waldorf School's mathematics education method to Korean alternative schools which are run under the national curriculum. To achieve this, the researcher conducted class on geometry for three weeks with ten 7th graders(four girls and six boys) from Apple Tree Waldorf alternative school in Busan, which has adopted Valdorf education courses. For the first two weeks, the class was about 'fundamental geometrical construction', and then it was evaluated. On the third week, the lesson was on plane figures, followed by a test with 9 plane figure questions that are based on general middle school mathematics curriculum. The result shows that most of the students understood 'fundamental geometrical construction'. When it comes to the test on 'plane figures', seven students got 8 out of 9 right, two students got 6 out of 9 right, and one of them had difficulty solving the questions. According to the results of this research, it is thought that there will be no problem for students to understand mathematical concept even if the Waldorf School's mathematics education method is applied to Korean alternative schools. Also, the Waldorf School's mathematics education method is considered to be a good teaching model for the Korean mathematics curriculum which places emphasis on 'mathematical creativity' in regard to the curriculum and contents.
