The concept of alternative sphere is terminologically various; resistance media, counter media, minjung media, grassroots media, underground media, alternative media, civic media, etc. Each terminology reflect the feature of times and the emphasis of advocator. This article explore the transformation of alternative public sphere and its motive in Korea. In a world, Korea's alternative public sphere has changed as following: resistance media and liberty media in 70', counter media and minjung media in 80', alternative media in 90', and alternative media and civic media in 2000'. The motive of transformation is basically the expansion of civil society and extension of social movement in Korea. As social movement's character has changed, the feature of alternative public sphere has also changed. Minjung movement played key role of social movement in 1980', the alternative public sphere characterized as minjung media or counter media which was based on working class consciousness. After this, According as civil movement have initiative of social movement, the character of alternative public sphere changed by alternative media and civic media. Besides, this article argue that the alternative public sphere of Korea has changed dialectically with social movement.

The convergence paradigm that appears with the integrated media environment has effect on digital storytelling using digital technology, then 'Trans-media storytelling' which is a new form of digital storytelling makes gradual expand its scope. This study focused on the Alternative Reality Game which adopt trans-media storytelling in the game genre. This paper interpreted the idea of ARG on comparing different forms of ARG and existing games and the distinctive features of ARG storytelling which is blurring the line between real and virtual on the Simulation theory. This is a valuable study for understanding the new storytelling form within the media convergence and developing the digital storytelling in the future.

The latest convergence of broadcasting and communication makes the boundary between medias be ambiguous. It pursues the new type of culture that the unspecified many participants seek the satisfaction for the same target in an realtime environment. ARG(Alternative Reality Game) is a new alternate real game created by media convergence and it processes the more realistic interactivity between users through ARS, SMS, BLOG, Cafe and Messages. This paper analyzes the implementation, design, and construction schemes of ARG in the side of the human thinking and media. We also propose the evolution and role of the broadcasting by combining broadcasting for the activation of ARG.

Growing plant in potting media without soil is known as Soilless cultivation. This method is used mostly in greenhouse cultivation to increase horticultural commodities production. Peat moss is commonly utilized as potting media substrate because of its characteristic. However, peat moss price is high because of the quantity of peat moss in nature has been decreased. Recently, most of the research is conducted to find the alternative growing medium to cultivate horticulture plant in potting media. Perlite and rice husk ash were mentioned that had a potent as alternative growing media for seasonal plants to increase agriculture production due to the lack of production area. This study aimed to determine the effect of using different substrate and growth performance of chili. The method used was the soilless cultivation. The chili was planted in the pot with perlite media, rice husk ash media, and peat moss media. The chili was measured after 65 days after planting. The result showed that rice husk ash and perlite were more potentials in chili growth performance than peat moss. Rice husk ash had the significant result of plant height. While, Perlite effect on root length, plant weight, leaf length, and stem diameter. The best alternative for cultivation chili without substrate based on this research was perlite then rice husk ash and peat moss.

The chinese cabbage was planted in the pot with perlite media, rice husk ash media, and peat moss media. The chinese cabbage was measured after 35 days after planting. The result showed that peatmoss was more potentials in chinese cabbage growth performance than rice husk ash and perlite. Peat moss had the significant result of every research parameters such as plant height, plant weight, number of leaves, plant diameter, root length, and root weight. The best alternative for cultivation chinese cabbage without substrate based on this research was peat moss then rice husk ash and perlite.

The objective of this study is to propose an alternative process for the small sewage treatment plants in rural communities. A biofilter has been used for biological wastewater treatment, which is becoming the alternative to the conventional activated sludge system. The proposed process used in this study, which is packed with floating media (i.e. expanded polystylene), has advantages of biofilter system and alternative flow system and they are incorporated into one process. Pilot and bench scale studies were performed using domestic wastewater. In the results of pilot plant study, it was observed that the stable effluent water quality was achieved and it met the present effluent criteria of suspended solid (SS), organic matters, T-N and T-P. In the study for determination of the cycle of backwashing, it was observed that the cycle of backwashing depended on BOD loading rates of influents. In the BOD loading rates of $0.5kg\;BOD/m^3{\cdot}day$ and $1.0kg\;BOD/m^3{\cdot}day$, the backwashing cycle of 28 hour and 16 hour were needed, respectively. The optimum backwashing time was 120~80 seconds at the media expansion rate of 50%. In the removal of SS, organic matters, T-N and T-P, SS removal was rather achieved by physical filtration than biological mechanism and the removal of organic matters except for SS, T-N and T-P were mainly rather achieved by biological mechanism than physical filtration. In bench-scale study, the effects of recirculation rate was investigated on removal of SS, TCOD, T-N and T-P. It was observed that the recirculation made removal efficiencies of SS, TCOD, T-N and T-P increased. Especially, in T-N removal, the increase of T-N removal efficiency of 40% was observed in the reicirculation rate of 1Q compared with 0Q.

This study analyzed the effects of women's SNS use on their alternative behaviors of managing health. This study paid attention to how women's behaviors of seeking information about poisonous menstrual products and alternative menstrual products would impact their intention to use alternative menstrual products. Mainly based on health belief model, 11 hypotheses were created and tested through a path analysis of survey data. Results from the path analysis indicated that SNS information about menstrual products were significantly associated with perceived advantage of alternative menstrual products and perceived sensitivity of poisonous menstrual products. In addition, four main factors-self-efficacy, perceived sensitivity, perceived advantage, and perceived disadvantage-were significantly associated with women's intention to use alternative menstrual products.

Chord length sampling method in Monte Carlo simulations is a method used to model spherical particles with random sampling technique in a stochastic media. It has received attention due to the high calculation efficiency as well as user convenience; however, a technical issue regarding boundary effect has been noted. In this study, after analyzing the distribution characteristics of spherical particles using an explicit method, an alternative chord length sampling method is proposed. In addition, for modeling in finite media, a correction method of the boundary effect is proposed. Using the proposed method, sample probability distributions and relative errors were estimated and compared with those calculated by the explicit method. The results show that the reconstruction ability and modeling accuracy of the particle probability distribution with the proposed method were considerably high. Also, from the local packing fraction results, the proposed method can successfully solve the boundary effect problem. It is expected that the proposed method can contribute to the increasing of the modeling accuracy in stochastic media.

Based on the theory of planned behavior, this study aims to examine the structural equation model among consumers' concerns and purchase intentions for alternative meats. Data were collected from 300 adults living in Kyeonggi Province. Results show that animal welfare, environmental concern, and health concern all have a direct and significant effect on purchase intention of alternative meat, and the mediation effect is also significant, indicating a partial mediation effect. The image of a company as caring about animal welfare and contributing to public causes can help sell alternative meats. Media publicity focusing on animal welfare for alternative meats can improve the attitudes of domestic consumers as well as their intention to purchase alternative meat products.

This research observes how an adolescent's usage of social network services is related with media use time, and also tries to verify how a parent's participation in acting to limit usage time serves as a mediating effect. For this analysis, data from The Korean Information Society Development Institute [Korea Media Panel Research] was used, being a survey conducted on 1,572 students from primary to secondary and high schools nationwide. The subjects' gender in the final analysis was 818 male students and 754 female students. In addition, primary school students consisted of 672 individuals, 416 were from secondary and 484 from high schools. To verify the appropriateness of the model proposed in this research, analyzed through the structural equation, using social network services(SNS) was not shown to have an effect on media usage time. However, there was an indirect effect from the use of alternative activities. In addition, the parent's limitation of usage showed no effect on media use time. This research attempts to identify the reasons why parents' limiting the usage time, along with alternative activities, do not have any significant effect in reducing media usage time in this era of smart media evolution. Further, this research hopes to suggest meaningful and political implications for the nation and society to understand and resolve media addiction.
