  • Purpose: This study proposed an improved method of teaching cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Methods: A teaching method for CPR using a song was evaluated. To validate the effect of this teaching method, we performed a comparative reference test against a traditional CPR lecture-oriented education method. A total of 202 study participants were enrolled in this project. Half were taught by the traditional CPR education method, and the other half were taught by the alternative educational method using a song. Results: The results for those educated by the traditional lecture-oriented method showed scores of 4.84 / 6.00 (Mean of knowledge) and 70.22 / 100 (Mean of practice ability for CPR). The results for those educated by the alternative method showed scores of 5.26 / 6.00 (Mean of knowledge) and 74.13 / 100 (Mean of practice ability for CPR). The alternative educational method utilizing a song improved the results on written and practical examinations. This improvement could be attributed to the effect of music on memory circuits in the brain. Conclusion: We believe that the results of this study will help to improve the success rates of CPR.

  • Objective: To determine second, third and fourth-year medical students' opinions and knowledge related to complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in a school with no requirement or elective course on the subject. Study Design: A questionnaire was offered to second, third and fourth-year medical students of the Medical College of Kosin University from August 7th, through August 30th, 2003. Results: Most students had been exposed to CAM therapies, knew that the majority of the South Korean public was using CAM, believed that some CAM interventions were useful, and did not believe CAM therapies were a threat to public health. Only one fifth of the students(22.5%) disagreed that they had to have requirement or elective course on CAM in their curriculum. Most students had insufficient knowledge or understanding of the safety or lack of it for ten of the more common CAM modalities. Most respondents thought these interventions were useful, but would not refer a patient nor dissuade a patient from seeking out such interventions. Conclusion: Medical students in this school self-identified an interest about the clinical usefulness of ten CAM modalities, but did not have sufficient knowledge about the safety for ten of the more common CAM modalities. Including CAM topics in the medical school curriculum would better prepare physicians to respond to patient inquiries about CAM and thereby to fulfill their role as patient advocates.

  • Recently, an integrated electronic publishing format that can be used by disabled people and the general public is expected. If applied to national alternative material production strategy, it is expected that not only the problem of alternative material production strategy using existing DTD(Document Type Definition) but also various alternative material corresponding to the demand of consumer can be supplied. In order to cope with changes in the production and management strategy of the substitute materials for the rapidly changing persons with disabilities, it is necessary to develop the substitute materials related to the substitute materials, such as 'production of alternative materials', 'research and education of alternative material', and 'operation of alternative material network' The organization of the National Library for the Disabled should be expanded and reorganized so that a constructed center can be established and demonstrated its expertise.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between the effectiveness of SUKI alternative therapy and scalp massage, and to contribute to the application and activation of hair SUKI alternative therapy. The research method was first to examine the understanding of SUKI alternative therapy through the concept of SUKI alternative therapy, the characteristics of SUKI alternative therapy, and points to be aware of during SUKI alternative therapy. The correlation between SUKI alternative therapy and scalp massage was investigated by reviewing research and others. As a result, SUKI replacement therapy had significant effects such as stress, depression, high blood pressure, muscle pain, skin wrinkles and elasticity. has been shown to affect treatment. Therefore, it is expected that SUKI replacement therapy can be applied to hair SUKI replacement therapy to improve the health and quality of life of modern people.

  • In this paper, we introduce U-statistics approach to generalized Hollander-Proschan test for new better than used (NBUE) alternative. We prove, the proposed test is equivalent to test was introduced by Anis and Mitra (2011) and includes test was introduced by Hollander Proschan (1975). Also, the asymptotic properties are studied. The powers of our test are estimated. The Pitman asymptotic efficiencies of proposed test are also calculated. Finally, the test is applied to some real data.

  • This paper is to present the problem of QC technique usage and improvement alternative in the QC circle. First, in the selection theme, it must have easy relations of tangible/intangible effects through simple theme's title. And contents development most be consistency in tangible/intangible effects. Second, in the usage of QC technique, it is necessary to strengthen QC circle activity through QC circle education. So in the aspects of long-term period. Internal instruction is strengthened and, in the aspects of short-term period, internal evaluation is established.

  • This paper is to find and to suggest alternative ways of description on function chapters in the middle school mathematics so that the descriptions be more closely related to daily life. The research has two phases: one for belief on the usefulness, the other for cognitive ability to solve the practical problems. Results are as following. 1. Most descriptions of corresponding chapters have emphases on the usefulness of functions so as to enhance beliefs on the use of functions. 2. Most practical functions contain expressions of large constant term and large coefficients in magnitude while those are not in the descriptions of tektbooks, especially in case of using ruled papers. 3. For quadratic functions, most students do not detect the degree of the function from the data presented by pairs of values of x and y. And those are not dealt with in most of textbooks, which are given in the MIC textbook.

  • Port Authority in Korea does not have financial independence nor fair recruitment practices, thus the prospects of the establishment of the Port Authority is not adequate. Therefore independent and effective port administration cannot be achieved. To overcome this situation, this paper examines the port administration system in Korea and identifies its problems. This paper then provides an 'modeling of Analytical Hierarchy structure' for evaluation. An alternative solution is provided by carrying out a public survey, analysing the significance of the evaluation factor using the techniques of the Analytical Hierarchy Process. The significance of profitability was identified. The role of central government is significant when assessing the public service function of port administration; and the role of the private company is significant when assessing the independence. In addition, the private company is significant when assessing profitability. The private company is the alternative for port administration in Korea, based on the evaluation of various alternatives.

  • Sustainability is an important topic within a variety of design areas, including fashion. The 'fast fashion' behavior of consumers is one of the big challenges that sustainable living faces. For the fashion industry, sustainability can be seen as a regulating ethos for higher quality and longer-lasting products, which I argue as embodying an intersection between sustainability and luxury. This study establishes a conceptual model for 'sustainable luxury' that can be implemented as a guide in the fashion design industry and education field. This paper will focus particularly on craft-based fashion within the industry. Through conceptual analysis and case studies, I analyze sustainable luxury through the scope of Soper's (2007) 'alternative hedonism', linking hedonic and selfidentity values as a foundation for the acceptance of and continued drive toward more sustainable luxury products. Unlike other studies which only emphasize the ecological and environmental aspects of sustainability, viz. green/eco design, this study explores sustainability as balanced with its four dimensions: environmental, economic, social, and cultural. Case studies will exemplify this redefined notion of sustainable luxury.

  • This study assumes alternative character of the operation of gifted class in middle school. The case that operated the voluntary mathematics club for one year was analyzed and the educational effect was considered. First, the examination instrument for choosing the members of mathematics club was developed and used. Second, diverse teaching and learning materials for improving creativity and mathematical ability of the members were used. Third, the difference of learning result between the experiment group and control one who joined the activities of mathematics club was analyzed.
