  • The spatial distribution of allelic frequencies was studied in the natural population of three species (Ligustrum obtusiflolium, Alnus japonica, and Pinus densflora). The distributional patterns of the crown-cover centers were compared between two populations in forests. L. obtusifolium and p. densiflora showed a significantly positive spatial autocorrelation as measured by Moran's I. In P densiflora, the genetic similarity was shown by individuals within up to a scale of 18 m distance and this is partly due to combination of pollen dispersal and long distance seed dispersal by wind or men. In L. obtusifolium, population structure in the distribution of allelic frequencies is related to mating systems and is consisted of a scale of 12.5 m intervals. No spatial structuring of allele frequencies was found for polymorphic enzyme loci within a natural population of Alnus japonica. The results also in- dicate that positive associations between L. obtusifolium and P densiflora can occur when both select the same habitat or have the same environmental requirements.

  • Actual vegetation map drown with the scale 1 to 100 and Alnus japonica population in Ja-neup and Woong-neup of the Mujechi moor were described in order to monitor long-termly and preserve permanently, where is a very rare Molinietea moor and a legally protected area. A total of 3036 plots of 5m $\times$ 5m were surveyed during summer 1996. Thiessen polygons of 1491 alder trees were derived from the plot data. Actual vegetation map was illustrated by 6 cover types such as needle spike-rush type, moor-grass type, alder-moor type, eulalia type, oak forest type, and exposed site. Molinia grasses native to the moor and Miscanthus grasses alien to the moor are reciprocally dominant. The area of Molinia grasslands was rapidly in decline and alder population size was dramatically in increase in the moor, particularly in Woong-neup. In Molinietea moor preservation more attention should be focused on the regulation of a nutrient rich soil from forest road and fire.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for the cultivation of Allium victorialis var. platyphyllum in the area covered with forest vegetation. The populations of A. victorialis var. platyphyllum in Ulleungdo were naturally growing in the communities of Fagus japonica var. multinervis, Acer okamotoanum, Pinus parviflora, Tsuga sieboldii, Pinus densiflora, Pinus thunbergii, Tilia amurensis, and Alnus maximowiczii. On average, the study area of A. victorialis var. platyphyllum population was located in the places of 563 m above sea level, and in the slope area of $27.8^{\circ}$. Soil texture of its inhabitation site mainly consisted of sandy soil, sandy loam, loamy sand, and loam. The depth of the organic layer was 6 cm on average, soil pH 5.4, available phosphate content 18.5 ppm, and cation exchange capacity $18.6cmol_c/kg$. The correlation between the site factors and soil factors by CCA analysis showed that the community of beech tree indicated positive correlation with carbon, nitrogen, sand content, and cation exchange capacity.
