함정의 실내소음 허용기준 설정을 위한 청감평가 및 분석 (Psycho-acoustic Evaluation and Analysis of the Indoor Noise in Cabins of a Naval Vessel to Specify its Allowable Limit)

  • The noise inside a naval vessel is very important in considering the need for hearing protection, improving the working environment and maintaining good communications for crews living on board a naval vessel. The indoor noise of a ship usually is specified by the A-weighted sound pressure level, but other evaluating parameters are required to reflect human senses more effectively. This paper uses additional noise indices related to room acoustics, such as NR(noise rating), NC(noise criterion), RC(room criterion), PSIL(preferred speech interference level) and loudness level to evaluate the noise inside cabins on a naval vessel. Using these psychological noise indices, allowable limit of noise level in cabins is suggested through psycho-acoustic evaluation for the noise in cabins.

한국형 고속전철(KHST) 실내소음 설계기준을 위한 주요 소음원의 허용소음도 (The allowable sound levels of major noise sources for the indoor-noise requirements of KHST)

  • It is required that the indoor-noise level of KHST (Korean High Speed Train) should be lower than 66 dB(A) at 300 km/h. In this study, the indoor-noise level of KHST has been predicted to determine the maximum allowable sound power levels of major noise sources. It is found that the indoor-noise requirements for KHST can be met by increasing the transmission losses of the floor and side-wall structures as well as by lowering the sound power levels of the major noise sources.

  • This study is aimed to utilize a basic data for setting up an allowable air noise with IMO standard in accommodation and working areas of 24m longer fishing vessels. The air noise in accommodation and working areas of 300 tons class squid-jigger were evaluated and the levels were compared to the allowable levels of IMO. The results indicated that the maximum range of noise levels was estimated to be between 54.8dB (A) and 83.2dB, and the correlation between the distance from the main engine to measuring point and the maximum noise level of each point was shown to be y=-13.8log (r)+92.91 ($r^2=0.821$). In addition, except the case of making an accommodation area near to the engine room in 24m longer jigging vessels, it was evaluated that the accommodation noise regulation of 1,600 tons international voyage vessels with 60dB (A) or an improved noise level with 65dB (A) could be properly applied.

  • Noises from ceiling mounted air-conditioning units were recorded in various actual situations such as offices, classrooms and libraries. Eight specimens of air-conditioners from major domestic and foreign manufacturers' were investigated in this study. A head and torso simulator was located 1.5 m beneath the air-conditioner panel for the measurements and sound pressure levels of the recording sounds were varied from 28 to 55 dBA with 3 dB steps for subjective evaluations. A total of 88 stimuli was randomly presented to subjects using a headphone system in semi-anechoic chamber. Two-categorized (noisiness and amenity) nine-point scale was used as evaluation method. The third scale ('point 3') among the nine-point scale was set as the threshold of allowable level of the air-conditioning sounds in consideration of the real situations. The results indicate that the allowable sound pressure level is around 34 dBA for both noisiness and amenity categories.

  • It is required that the indoor-noise level of KHST (Korean high speed train) should be lower than 66 ㏈(A) at 350 km/h. In this study, the indoor-noise level of KHST has been predicted to determine the maximum allowable sound power levels of major noise sources. It is found that the indoor-noise requirement for KHST can be met by increasing the transmission losses of the floor and side-wall structures as well as by lowering the sound power levels of two major noise sources including the motor fans.

  • As the noise of ship engine room is too loud, the engineer who works in a ship engine-room has the trouble of hearing. In this paper deals the investigation of the noise of ship engine room and cabins with the internationally allowable noise exposure level and noise exposure time. Recently, the problem of engine-room noise is more serious because of shipowner wants to make small number and larger size of cylinder. Therefore, engineers work in a ship engine-room for a long time have the trouble of hearing when they are exposed the high noise level. In this study, two kinds of vessels were used to investigate the noise of engine room, engine-control room, bridge, offices and cabins. As criteria of sound levels, A-weighted sound pressure level and octave band pressure level were used.

  • The reproducibility of measured level is a prior condition for the reliable assessment of the sound insulation performance. To review the reproducibility of impact sound level, 20 floors were selected in highrise apartment house, and then impact sound levels of two kinds of typical floors were measured with 10 times in each receiving point. The impact sound insulation class values were derived with a standard tapping machine and bang machine. Inspection of the result showed that smaller scale of the room caused to lower the reproducibility and that the higher values of standard deviation in lower frequency caused to deteriorate the reliability of assesment. Thus to enhance the reproducibility of the impact sound insulation class, greater allowable deviation of measured level is required in lower frequency than in higher one.

  • Currently, Atomic Force Microscope(AFM) has been widely used to measure the surface topography of a sample by detecting interaction force between atoms on the sample and extremely sharp probe tip. The vertical resolution of AFM is mainly determined by external vibration noise. The resolution of AFM shows different values for the different environment, thus it is necessary to determine relationship between the criteria and the resolution of AFM regardless of environment. In this paper, we discuss the allowable level of floor vibration for AFM equipment at given resolution. The vibration criteria can be used as reference data to design mechanical structure and to analyze the structural dynamics of AFM equipment.

주거 공간내 냉장고 소음의 정상상태 평가 (Evaluation of indoor refrigerator noise in steady-state condition)

  • The characteristics of refrigerator noise recorded in anechoic chamber was investigated in condition of a the real living room and a kitchen. To predict the noise propagation in an apartment unit, room acoustic simulation software was used. It was found that the noise level in the real living room was $4\sim8dB$ higher than in the anechoic chamber. When a noise barrier and absorption materials were used on the rear wall and floor, the noise level reduced up to $3\sim4dB$. In addition, when the subjective evaluation of auralized refrigerator noise was undertaken using headphone, it was revealed that 21dB (A) is the allowable sound pressure level of 95% satisfaction.

근접 철도터널의 굴착계획 및 설계 사례 (A Case on Excavation Plan and Design of Adjacent Railroad Tunnel)

  • The points of this design case are the planning and excavation method of a new double-tracked railroad tunnel which is approx. 11∼22 meters apart from existing single-tracked railroad tunnel. For the optimum excavation method some needs are required in design stage, such as the reduction of noise and vibration, public resentment, damage of buildings and construction costs. Hence the estimation and application of allowable noise and vibration criterion is important. The ground coefficient (K, n) of this site is determined by field trial blasting. The excavation method is chosen to satisfy the allowable noise and vibration criterion. In addition, in order to ensure the stability of existing single-tracked railroad tunnel, the instrumentation of maintenance level is accompanied during the construction stage. As a result of this design condition, central diaphragm excavation with line drilling and pre-large hole boring blasting is applied to the area within 15 meters apart from existing tunnel. And above 15 meters apart, pre-large hole boring blasting is designed.
