  • Vibrations are generally recognized as the biggest concern in maintaining part' longevity of an All-in-one PC. The vibrations in PCs originate from excitation sources such as the HDD and the cooling fan. In this study, the vibrations from these sources were investigated in order to analyze the individual effects of the parameters on the structural vibrations of the PC; further, we attempted to establish design alterations that could successfully suppress vibrations, in order to achieve improved stability and part' longevity. The results show that relatively simple design alterations can substantially improve the stability of PCs.

  • The photoconductive $CdGa_2Se4$ layer has been investigated using photocurrent (PC) spectroscopy as a function of temperature. Three peaks corresponding to the band-to-band transitions were observed in the PC spectra for all temperature ranges. Also, contrary to our expectation, the PC intensities decreased with decreasing temperatures. From the relation of log $J_{ph}$ vs 1/T, where $J_{ph}$ is the PC density, two dominant levels by the exponential variation of the PC with varying temperature were observed, one at high temperatures and the other at low temperatures.

  • The genetic variation in 10 indigenous Caucasian sheep breeds was studied with 14 micro-satellite loci in order to determine the genetic diversity among and between the breeds. Five breeds from Asia, five breeds from Europe and one breed from Africa, were included in order to study any relationships or influences they may have with the Caucasian sheep analyzed. A Karakul population from Uzbekistan was included in the study to see whether there was any Central Asian influence. All the 14 loci were found to be polymorphic in all the breeds, with the exception of ILST0056, which was monomorphic in Imeretian. A total of 231 alleles were generated from all the 688 individuals of the sheep analyzed. The mean number of alleles (MNA) at each locus was 16.5. The total number of alleles detected in all samples ranged from 13 in several loci to 23 in OarJMP029. Out of total 308 Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium (HWE) tests, 85 gave significant results. After Bonferroni correction for multiple tests, 30 comparisons still remained significant to the experimental levels. The Gala population was the most diverse and Imeretian the least diverse with a MNA of 8.50 and 5.51, respectively. Gene diversity estimates exhibited the same trend and ranged from 0.803 in Gala and 0.623 in Imeretian, but generally there is higher diversity among the Caucasian breeds in comparison to other eference breeds. The closest breeds were Tushin and Bozakh with Da of 0.113 and most distant breeds were $Djallonk{\acute{e}}$ and North Rondalsy with Da of 0.445. Principal Component (PC) analyses were done. PC1 described 14% of the differences. PC2, which described 13% of the differences, further separated the Caucasian breeds from Asian breeds except Karakul and Awasi, and the two British breeds. PC3 described 10% of the differences, allowing better differentiation of the Caucasian breeds. A moderate degree of reliability was observed for individual-breed assignment from the 14 loci using different approaches among which the Bayesian method proved to be the most efficient. About 72% of individuals analyzed were correctly assigned to their respective breeds.

  • A study investigated the effects of Galla Rhois (GR) on growth performance and diarrhea incidence of postweaning piglets. One hundred 28-day-old piglets were randomly assigned into five experimental groups, which were a basal diet alone (NC), chlortetracycline 0.3 g/kg feed (PC) and supplemented with GR 1.0 g/kg feed (GR 1), GR 2.0 g/kg feed (GR 2), and GR 4.0 g/kg feed (GR 3). After 28 days of administration, final body weight (BW) and feed conversion ratio of PC, GR 2 and GR 3 was significantly different compared to those of NC (p < 0.05). Additionally, the average daily gain (ADG) and average daily feed intake (ADFI) of PC and all groups treated with GR was significantly different compared to those of NC (p < 0.05). Especially, final BW, ADG, ADFI and feed conversion ratio (FCR) of GR 2 and GR 3 were not significant different compared to those of PC. In fecal scores and duration of diarrhea, PC and all groups treated with GR were significantly different compared to NC (p < 0.05). In hematogolical and serum biochemical analysis, there were no significant differences in any of the hematogolical and serum biochemical parameters examined in either NC or all groups treated with GR. The results of this study indicated that GR could be a potential candidate as feed additives for the improvement of growth performance and incidence of diarrhea in piglets.

  • Background and Objectives The early assessment of treatment is not done for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) since the well-known phenomenon of fatigability after a repeated positional test can mimic successful treatment. The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical implication of 'fatigability' after Epley maneuver and to identify the therapeutic efficacy of Epley maneuver in posterior canal BPPV (PC-BPPV). Subjects and Method This study was prospectively conducted by two dizziness clinics on 51 consecutive patients diagnosed with PC-BPPV. All patients included in the study received Epley maneuver treatment. The therapeutic results were reassessed immediately after a single trial of Epley maneuver. After 30 minutes, results were reassessed repeatedly to confirm the fatigability of diagnostic procedure immediately after treatment. If the treatment was not successful after 30 minutes, Epley maneuver was repeatedly performed until complete resolution. Results Immediately after the first maneuver, 45 of 51 (88.2%) patients had neither vertigo nor nystagmus during the positional test. All patients demonstrated complete resolution after receiving one to three Epley maneuvers on the day of diagnosis. 'Fatigability (false negative result)' was confirmed for only one case (1 of 6 patients, 16.7%), in which nystagmus was observed after 30 minutes but not identified immediately after the first Epley maneuver. Conclusion The therapeutic efficacy of Epley maneuver is very high in PC-BPPV. Considering the possibility of fatigability when reassessment is performed immediately after therapeutic maneuver, clinicians should avoid assessing the outcome immediately after treatment in patients with PC-BPPV.

  • This study aimed to evaluate the effect of supplementing different protease enzymes on growth performance, intestinal morphology, and selected carcass traits in broilers fed diets reduced 3.5% in crude protein (CP) and amino acids (AA). One thousand one-day-old Ross 308 broilers (41 g) were assigned to five dietary treatments with ten replicates of 20 birds each: a positive control (PC) diet formulated to meet Ross 308 AA requirements, a negative control (NC) diet reformulated to provide 3.5% lower CP and AA compared to PC, NC supplemented with a multi-protease (PR1) solution, containing 3 different coated proteases produced from Aspergillus niger, Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus licheniformis, NC supplemented with a serine protease (PR2) produced from Bacillus licheniformis, and NC supplemented with an alkaline protease (PR3) produced from Bacillus licheniformis. At slaughter, 40 birds per treatment were used to assess the effect of the different treatments on carcass traits. At 32 days, samples of the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum of 10 birds per treatment were collected for intestinal morphology evaluation. Birds fed PC and NC supplemented with multi-protease exhibited better (p < 0.05) feed efficiency compared to NC and NC supplemented with all the other protease enzymes. Multi-protease supplementation was linked to the highest (p < 0.05) carcass weight and yield. There were significant differences (p < 0.05) between treatments in all gut segments, with PC, PR1, PR2, and PR3 exhibiting longer villi height (VH) compared to NC. This study demonstrates that 3.5% reduction of CP and AA negatively affected for the overall period feed efficiency, carcass yield, and intestinal morphology. The supplementation of the multi-protease restored feed efficiency and improved carcass yield.

  • This study was designed to evaluate the antioxidant activities and protective effects on PC12 cells of the extract of Epimedium koreanum and its main constituents icariin and icariside I. After screening the seven identified flavonoid glycosides from E. koreanum through DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate) assay, E. koreanum, Icariin and Icariside I exhibited significant effect on radical scavenging activity. E. koreanum, icariin and icariside I were examined using DPPH, ABTS (2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)) and FRAP (ferric reducing ability power) assay. In all antioxidant assays, E. koreanum, icariin and icariside I showed high radical scavenging activities in a dose-dependent manner. Protective effects against $H_2O_2-induced$ PC12 cells were assessed with MTT assay. The results indicated that cell viability and protection on PC12 cells of icariside I and icariin increased dose dependently. These study results suggest that E. koreanum, icariin and icariside showed high antioxidant capacities and cell protective effects. Icariside I, one of the metabolites of icariin, may be a new and effective flavonoid compound as a functional component.

  • Nanocrystallne WO3 and MoO3 with several different sizes and crystal structures were prepared by simple acid precipitation and subsequent heat treatment. The photochromic (PC) properties of these samples were comparatively investigated in powder state by monitoring diffuse reflectance spectral changes after bandgap irradiation. The PC effect of hexagonal WO3 and monoclinic WO3 strongly depended upon crystallite size rather than crystal structure. The smaller the crystallite size, the better the PC effect. However, orthorhombic WO·H2O and MoO3 having hexagonal and orthorhombic structures did not follow this trend. One consistent result for all WO3 and MoO3 samples is that the heat treatment in air, which changes crystallinity, whether it changes the crystal structure or only the crystallite size, reduces the PC effect. Since the thermal treatment reduces the surface oxygen defect sites, we believe that the PC effect of WO3 and MoO3 depends critically on the surface oxygen defect sites that serve as deep trap sites for photogenerated electrons and oxygen radical holes. We also found that the proton insertion claimed by double charge injection model is not critical for the PC effect.

  • This study aims to investigate the effect of acupuncture on PC6 for preventing opioid-induced nausea and vomiting under circumstance whether the participants are conscious or non-conscious. 143 patients receiving intravenous patient controlled analgesia(PCA) with fentanyl were assigned to three groups. Two groups were given acupuncture on PC6 before anesthesia(PreAN) or after anesthesia(PoAN) respectively. One group was control group without acupuncture treatment(NC). Assessment of nausea and vomiting was obtained from all patients for 48hours after surgery. The incidence of nausea and vomiting was significantly lower in the PreAN group and PoAN group than in the NC group. The severity of nausea was the lowest in PreAN group, second to in PoAN group, and the highest in NC group. This results show that acupuncture on PC6 even without patients' consciousness has effect on preventing PONV.

  • Construction project have extremely high risk in the process of construction owing to unexpected event, like as design amendment. As a result, owner have to endure enormous extra-cost to control the risk and continue to the project having more higher uncertainty. Also, if the structure is completed, it is needed that the structure is protected and maintained continuously during life cycle time to satisfying original aim of structure itself. LCC analysis to calculate cost of structure alternatives divides into two stage, one is design_LCC and the other is maintenace_LCC. But two stages all is needed in the transition deterioration model to calculate more reasonable LCC analysis. This paper developed the model using analysis of FMS contents and survey from professional about Prestressed concrete beam girder bridge(PC Beam bridge)in railway. The model is focused in project level of PC beam because any condition state information for element level analysis can not get up. This paper is intended to use the developed model in LCC analysis of PC Beam bridge in railway and constitute the foundation to perform more deep study in the near future.
