Component having antioxidant activity on lard during heating was separated from hexane extract of spinach, and its characteristic chemical structure was speculated through nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, and Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry. Lard was heated with hexane-, ethyl ether-, ethyl acetate-, or ethanol extract of spinach at $180^{\circ}C$ for 20 hr. Hexane extract of spinach, having highest antioxidant activity on lard during heating, was fractionated by silicic acid column chromatography (SACC), and SACC fractions having higher antioxidant activity on lard during heating were further separated by thin layer chromatography (TLC). Isolated compound from SACC fractions of hexane extract of spinach by TLC had sugar moieties and benzene ring along with hydroxy, carbonyl, and alkyl groups in the structure.
Twenty novel tetramic acid derivatives (E)-3-(1-(alkyloxyamino)ethylidene)-1-alkylpyrrolidine-2,4-diones were synthesized by the reaction of 3-(1-hydroxyethylidene)pyrrolidine-2,4-diones with O-alkyl hydroxylamines. The title compounds were confirmed by IR, $^1H$ NMR, MS and elemental analysis. The structure of compound 6r was further verified by X-ray diffraction crystallography. The bioassays showed that most of the title compounds exhibited noticeable herbicidal and fungicidal activities.
Many kinds of acetosolv lignin including ricestraw and spruce lignin were pyrolyzed. and liquefied in the autoclave reactor using 50% tetralin and m-cresol solution respectively as soluble solvent and Co-Mo as catalyst. In order to promote deoxyhydrogenolysis reaction $H_2$ gas was supplied into the reactor. The ratio between lignin and the soluble solvent are lg and 10cc. The reaction conditions are $200^{\circ}-700^{\circ}C$ of reaction temperature, 10-50 atms of reaction pressure and 100-500rpm of the reactor stirrer. By the deoxyhydrogenolysis liquefaction reaction, the main chemical structures of lignin which are aryl-alkyl-${\beta}$-0-4 ether, phenylcoumaran and biphenyl etc. are easily destroyed into liqufied aromatic compounds and aliphatic compunds linked with aromatic compounds. The percent yield of monomeric phenols on the weight bvase of lignin reacted reached to 12-14% by the chemical analytic GC-MS etc.
We characterized the physisorption of p-iodo-phenyl octadecyl ether molecules (I-POE) onto superlattice regions of graphite surfaces using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The formation of self-organized I-POE monolayers does not affect the overall structures of moir$\acute{e}$ patterns and their modulation periods. However, the packing density of the I-POE monolayer and the orientations of lamella structures were sensitive to the underlying superlattice structure. Depending on the bias voltage, the STM images selectively showed moir$\acute{e}$ pattern, I-POE layer, or both. Reflecting the local density of states at a certain energy level, the STM images thereby revealed the relative energy level scale of the superlattice with respect to the molecular orbitals of I-POE.

Pre-foaming that has been used in this study is using to control and guarantee quality, but the optimum mix proportion and regulation are not definite. Therefore, this study investigated properties of foamed concrete according to concentrations of foaming agent to improve usability of foamed concrete. Synthetic foaming agent such as AES(Alkyl Ether Sulfate) and AOS(Alpha Olefin Sulfonate) are used to make foam with 1, 3, and 5% concentrations. We found that the flow of foam concrete increases when foam concentration is high and AES is more flowable than AOS. Density and compressive strength increase when foam concentration is low.
In this research montmorillonite intercalations complexes as organophilic clay compounds which have very different properties as the starting clay mineral were synthesized by the substitution of metal ions which exist in the montmorillonite layers with the organic cations which have long alkyl chain by the cation exchange reaction. Thereafter the obtained products dried in high vacuum were treated with the various swelling liquids such as dist. water, methanol, acetone, ether and acetonitrile in order to know the swelling behaviour of the synthesized complexes. Especially for this research Korean and Turkish clays were selected to compare the intercalations complexes of both clays and their swelling behaviour.
The critical micelle concentrations (CMCs) of aqueous solutions of a nonionic surfactant, polyoxyl 23 lauryl ether in the presence of various concentration of urea and its derivatives were measured. The CMC of the surfactant increase in proportion to the concentration of the additives, and the CMC-raising activities increased with more and longer alkyl grups substituted in urea. The CMC shift values were successfully correlated with the cloud point shift values and the protein-denaturing activities of the additives, respectively. These results suggest that the micelle formation, clouding of the surfactant and the protein denaturation are a closely related phenomenon, and a common mechanism is operating which might be the hydrophobic interaction.
3',5'-Dimethoxy-4'-(2-vinyloxyethoxy)-4-nitrostilbene 2 and 3',5'-dimethoxy-4'-(2-vinyloxyethoxy)-2,4-dinitrostilbene 5 were prepared by the reactions of 2-iodoethyl vinyl ether with 3',5'-dimethoxy-4'-hydroxy-4-dinitrostilbene 1 and 3',5'-dimethoxy-4'-hydroxy-2,4-dinitrostilbene 4, respectively. Monomers 2 and 5 were polymerized with cationic initiators to obtain polymers with 3',5'-dimethoxy-4'-oxy-4-nitrostilbene and 3',5'-dimethoxy-4'-oxy-2,4-nitrostilbene, which are presumably effective chromophores for second-order nonlinear optical application in the side chain. The resulting polymers 3 and 6 were soluble in DMSO and DMF. The inherent viscosities of the polymers were in the range of 0.28-0.33 dL/g in DMSO. Polymers 3 and 6 showed a thermal stability up to 250 ℃ in TGA thermogram, and the Tg values obtained from DSC thermograms were in the range of 81-87°.

The studies were undertaken to establish optimum formulation recipes of acetamipid 4% SL(soluble concentrate) using different adjuvants and to evaluate enhanced control effect on target insect pests by adjuvants. Adjuvants for the studies used were SS(Sodium alkylcarboxylate) and PE(Polyoxyethylene alkyl ether). After the fundamental recipe for SL being established by using co-solvent for stability at low temperature, four types of SL were formulated. The physical properties and insecticidal efficacies of the tested SL formulations were investigated. Surface tension of SL1 without adjuvant was highly decreased from 44 dyne/cm to 34 dyne/cm by addition of adjuvants. SL4 using mixed adjuvant showed the lowest contact angle. Efficacies of SL1 without adjuvant against the palm thrips (Thrips palmi) and the cotton aphid (Aphis gossypii) on cucumber were increased by adding adjuvants. SL4 using mixed adjuvant showed higher efficacy than SL2 and SL3 using single adjuvant. These results have demonstrated that the selected adjuvants could be used to enhance insecticide efficacy and reduce spray dose of insecticide.
Recently, research on the development of anion exchange membranes (AEMs) has received considerable attention from the scientific community around the world. Here, we fabricated a series of AEMs with branched structures with different alkyl spacers and conducted comparative evaluations. The introduction of these branched structures is an attempt to overcome the low ionic conductivity and stability problems that AEMs are currently facing. To this end, branched polymers with different spacer lengths were synthesized and properties of each membrane prepared according to the branched structure were compared. The chemical structure of the polymer was investigated by proton nuclear magnetic resonance, Fourier transform infrared, and gel permeation chromatography, and the thermal properties were investigated using thermogravimetric analysis. The branched anion exchange membrane with (CH2)3 and (CH2)6 spacers exhibited ionic conductivities of 8.9 mS cm-1 and 22 mS cm-1 at 90℃, respectively. This means that the length of the spacer affects the ionic conductivity. Therefore, this study showing the effect of the spacer length on the ionic conductivity of the membrane in the polymer structure constituting the ion exchange membrane is judged to be very useful for future application studies of AEM fuel cells.
