산-염기 처리한 게 껍질에 의한 수풍의 납 이온 제거 (Removal of Pb2+ ion from aqueous solution Using crab shell treated by acid and alkali)

  • In order to examine the pre-treatment effect of crab shell en Pb$^{2+}$ removal by crab shell in aqueous solution, acid and alkali pre-treated crab shell were used. Electron microscopy techniques such as TEM (transmission electron microscopy) and SEM (scanning electron microscopy), and EDX (energy dispersive X-ray) and FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) spectrometry techniques were used to investigate the process of Pb$^{2+}$ removal by acid and alkali pre-treated crab shell. The Pb$^{2+}$ removal by acid pre-treated crab shell was much lower than that by untreated crab shell because of the decrease of CaCO$_3$ from the crab shell. However, the Pb$^{2+}$removal by alkali pre-treated crab shell increased compared to that by untreated crab shell. The results were confirmed by TEM, SEM, EDX and FTIR.nd FTIR.

COLONIZATION OF ALKALI-TREATED FIBROUS ROUGHAGES BY ANAEROBIC RUMEN FUNGI

  • This study reports light and electron microscope examination of rumen fungal colonization of alkali-treated roughage feeds incubated in decron bags in the rumen of cannulated sheep for varying time intervals. Six roughages, pre-treated with ammonium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide at 4% (w/w) level were examined together with untreated control samples. Alkali pre-treatment was associated with an earlier and more pronounced fungal colonization than all control roughages. Sodium hydroxide pre-treatment was significantly more effective than ammonium hydroxide in improving the susceptibility of roughages to rumen fungal colonization and studies by SEM showed that the pre-treatment permitted greater penetration of feeds by fungi. Sodium hydroxide pre-treatment also significantly increased dry matter disappearance from feed held in Dacron bags in the rumen with all feeds except Lucerne stem. It is not known to what extent fungal activity contributed to increased breakdown of the feeds.

전처리 방법에 따른 슬러지 가용화가 혐기소화에서 메탄 생산과 슬러지 감량에 미치는 영향 (Sludge Solubilization by Pre-treatment and its Effect on Methane Production and Sludge Reduction in Anaerobic Digestion)

  • 하폐수 처리과정에서 발생되는 슬러지는 주로 혐기소화에 의해 처리되며 슬러지를 감량하고 메탄을 생산할 수 있어 많이 이용되고 있다. 슬러지의 전처리는 혐기소화의 율속단계인 가수분해를 높여 처리속도를 향상시키므로 많은 연구가 진행 중이다. 본 연구에서는 열, 초음파, 열-알칼리의 전처리 기술에 따른 슬러지의 가수분해(가용화) 효과와 전처리한 슬러지를 혐기소화하여 메탄 생산량과 슬러지의 감량 효과를 비교하였다. 하수와 폐수 슬러지 가용화율은 열-알칼리 동시 처리한 경우에는 67과 70%로 가장 높았고 다음으로 초음파 처리와 열처리가 40% 이상의 비슷한 가용화율을 보였다. 혐기소화 가스의 메탄 함량은 45~70% 범위로 유지되었고 전처리한 슬러지가 control에 비해 높게 나타났다. 메탄 생산량은 열처리, 초음파 처리, 열-알칼리를 같이 처리한 경우가 control에 비해 각각 하수슬러지는 2.6, 2.7, 3.5배, 폐수 슬러지는 3.5, 4.1, 4.2배 증가하였다. 혐기소화 슬러지의 감량효과는 전처리한 슬러지가 control에 비해 5~19% 포인트 높게 나타났으며 열-알칼리 처리한 경우가 초음파와 열처리에 비해 우수한 감량 효과를 보였다. 위의 결과로부터 전처리가 메탄 생산량에서 뿐만 아니라 슬러지 처리처분 비용 절감에 있어서도 중요한 역할을 함을 확인할 수 있었고 열-알칼리 동시 처리가 가장 우수한 성능을 보였다.

  • It has been reported that natural dyeing is impossible without pre-treatment with metal mordanting agents. However, pre-treatment with chitosan, which has high affinity to natural dyes, could result in an excellent dyeing with various natural dyes. In this study, three treatment methods were employed; 1) Using PET without any pre-treatment (Method 1) 2) Using PET with chitosan acid solution pre-treatment (Method 2) 3) Using PET with chitosan pre-treatment and subsequent crosslinking using citric acid (Method 3) Method 2 and 3 enhanced the Cochineal dyeability remarkably compared to Mehod 1. Washfastness was also enhanced, and moisture content, static property, abrasion resistance, and fabric hand changes were investigated.

  • 본 연구에서는 천연 섬유와 matrix간의 결합에 불리하게 작용하는 wax, lignin, hemicellulose 등을 제거하기 위한 방법 중 하나인 NaOH를 이용한 천연섬유의 알칼리 처리가 Kenaf 장섬유/PP 혼합 바이오복합재 제조 시 계적인 물성에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보았다. Kenaf 장섬유의 적절한 배합비와 알칼리처리를 통한 최적의 바이오복합재를 제조하기 위하여 알칼리 처리 시의 농도와 kenaf fiber의 함유량을 달리하여 각 처리조건에 따른 바이오복합재의 특성을 조사하였다. 알칼리 처리를 통한 계면 결합의 증가를 확인하기 위하여 SEM을 이용하여 복합재의 단면을 확인하였다. 그 결과 알칼리 처리가 3% 농도부터 계면 결합이 증가하고, 5%일 때의 최고의 계면 결합력을 보였다. 하지만 기계적 강도에서는 알칼리 농도 3% 처리한 것이 최적이었으며 kenaf fiber가 30% 함유된 PP/kenaf섬유 바이오복합재가 높은 강도를 나타내었다.

  • This study was performed to optimize the integrated thermal-alkali pre-treatment of flotation scum for the enhanced biodegradability. The optimum conditions of the integrated thermal-alkali pre-treatment were obtained using response surface methodology. The disintegration degree of carbohydrate (69.2%) and protein (57.3) were estimated under the optimum conditions. Although the optimum conditions were different, the disintegration degrees were similarly. A fermentative hydrogen batch test was conducted to evaluate the hydrogen production from scum with and/or without. The maximum hydrogen production from scum with pre-treatment was of 0.64 mol H2/mol hexoseadded, which about 1.4 times higher than without pre-treatment.

  • Various mechanical and chemical pretreatment methods including alkali treatment, pre-beating, enzyme treatment and oxidation treatment have been used to reduce the production energy of the microfibrillated cellulose (MFC). Among them, alkali swelling can be helpful to reduce the energy consumption because the internal bonding between fibrils could be weakened. In this study, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) was used as a cosolvent to improve alkali pretreatment efficiency and the effects of NaOH concentration during NaOH-DMSO swelling on changes in fiber characteristics of softwood bleached kraft pulp (SwBKP) were elucidated. For alkali treatment in H2O-DMSO solvents, fiber length were decreased with increasing NaOH concentration while fiber width, curl and WRV were increased. WRV began to increase at 8% NaOH solution. In addition, above 8% concentration of NaOH, crystalline structure of pulp fibers converted from cellulose II to cellulose III by DMSO cosolvent. Comparing the previous results with this study, it was shown that DMSO cosolvent could promote swelling of pulp fibers and thus reduce NaOH concentration for the maximum swelling of fibers.

알칼리 처리한 PET 직물의 소목염색에서 키토산 및 매염제의 사용 (The Use of Chitosan and Mordanting in the Dyeing of Alkali Treated PET Fabrics with Wood of Caesalpinia Sappan)

  • Treatment of PET fabrics with alkali, chitosan and Al-mordanting has been carried out and the role of the chitosan coating in the dyeing process was clarified. The pre-treatment was effectively evaluated differences in dyeing behavior between its treated and untreated PET fabrics using wood of Caesalpinia sappan. The pre-treated on PET fabrics has been examined by SEM and evidence for the presence of chitosan sought using a air permeability test. Similar colour fastness by computer color matching(CCM) obtained on both untreated and pre-treated PET fabrics. The pre-treated PET was found to be of a deeper hue to that of its dyed untreated PET and, despite of its better colour depth, the wash fastness of the pre-treated dyeing was comparable to that of its dyed untreated PR. The application of chitosan or mordanting reveled that pre-treatment imparted to the PET additional functional groups that were available for coordination with the Brazilin.

공기 중 우라늄 동위원소 분석을 위한 방사화학 전처리방법에 대한 비교 분석 연구 (A Comparative Study on Radiochemical Pre-treatment Methods for Airborne Uranium-Isotropic Analysis)

  • 대기 중에 존재하는 우라늄 동위원소 분석을 위해서 일반적으로 알파분광분석법(alpha spectrometry)이 사용되고 있으며, 정확한 분석을 위해서는 정밀한 방사화학 전처리가 요구된다. 보편적인 방사화학 전처리 방법으로는 회화법(ashing method) 및 알칼리 용융법(alkali fusion method)가 있다. 그러나 회화법의 경우 전처리 시간이 길어 빠른 분석이 어렵다는 단점이 있으며, 이와 달리 알칼리 용융법은 단시간 내에 전처리가 가능하다는 장점은 있으나 보편적으로 전처리 장비의 무게가 무겁고 분석 소요 비용 역시 상당히 높다는 단점이 있다. 이러한 단점들은 신속한 분석 결과가 요구되는 방사능 사고 분석 또는 IAEA 안전조치 물자재고 검사(Physical Inventory Verification, PIV) 수행시, 효율성을 저하시키는 원인이 된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 간편하면서도 주어진 짧은 시간 내에 공기 중 우라늄 동위원소 분석을 완료하는 것을 목적으로, 초음파 세척법(ultrasonic cleaning method)을 이용한 새로운 방사화학 전처리 방법을 개발하였다. 또한 초음파 세척법의 효율성 분석을 위해 전처리 소요시간, 편의성, 소요비용, 우라늄 동위원소 회수율의 측면에서 기존의 방법들과 비교 분석하였다. 동일 조건의 공기 포집시료에 대해 비교실험을 수행한 결과, 본 연구에서 개발한 초음파 세척법을 활용한 공정은 상대적으로 전처리 시간도 짧고, 이동이 간편하며, 저가이며, 단순함에도 불구하고 기존 방식과 비교하여 유사한 회수율을 보였다.

Effect of carbonization temperature and chemical pre-treatment on the thermal change and fiber morphology of kenaf-based carbon fibers

  • Kenaf fibers, cellulose-based natural fibers, were used as precursor for preparing kenafbased carbon fibers. The effects of carbonization temperature ($700^{\circ}C$ to $1100^{\circ}C$) and chemical pre-treatment (NaOH and $NH_4Cl$) at various concentrations on the thermal change, chemical composition and fiber morphology of kenaf-based carbon fibers were investigated. Remarkable weight loss and longitudinal shrinkage were found to occur during the thermal conversion from kenaf precursor to kenaf-based carbon fiber, depending on the carbonization temperature. It was noted that the alkali pre-treatment of kenaf with NaOH played a role in reducing the weight loss and the longitudinal shrinkage and also in increasing the carbon content of kenaf-based carbon fibers. The number and size of the cells and the fiber diameter were reduced with increasing carbonization temperature. Morphological observations implied that the micrometer-sized cells were combined or fused and then re-organized with the neighboring cells during the carbonization process. By the pre-treatment of kenaf with 10 and 15 wt% NaOH solutions and the subsequent carbonization process, the inner cells completely disappeared through the transverse direction of the kenaf fiber, resulting in the fiber densification. It was noticeable that the alkali pre-treatment of the kenaf fibers prior to carbonization contributed to the forming of kenaf-based carbon fibers.
