Investigation of The New LC Alignment Film using $TiO_2$ thin film ($TiO_2$ 박막을 적용한 새로운 액정배향막의 연구)

  • We studied the nematic liquid crystal (NLC) aligning capabilities using the new alignment material of a Titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$) thin film by rf magnetron sputtering system for 15min under various rf power. A very low pretilt angle by ion beam exposure on the $TiO_2$ thin film was measured. A good LC alignment by the ion beam alignment method on the $TiO_2$ thin film surface was observed at annealing temperature of $200^{\circ}C$, and the alignment defect of the NLC was observed above annealing temperature of $250^{\circ}C$. Consequently, the low NLC pretilt angle and the good thermal stability of LC alignment by the ion beam alignment method on the $TiO_2$ thin film by sputter method as various rf power condition can be achieved.

  • This paper introduces the alignment background, analyzes some alignment issues. a practical the model of Data Governance for business and IT alignment is describes to implement the alignment so as to improve organizations innovation competency. Business and Information Technology alignment plays an important role in the business operation. Data Governance is an emerging approach which has been proven in some organizations to meet alignment demand. This paper proposes the model of Data Governance and proves the effective through implementation. This could be a good model of benchmarking for the best data quality management of all organizations.

Study on LC Aligning Capability by the UV Alignment Method on a-C:H Thin Films

  • We studied the nematic liquid crystal (NLC) aligning capabilities by the UV alignment method on a a-C:H thin film surface. A good LC alignment by UV exposure on the a-C.H thin film surface at 200 ${\AA}$ of layer thickness was achieved. Also, a good LC alignment by the UV alignment method on the a-C:H thin film surface was observed at annealing temperature of 180 $^{\circ}C$. However, the alignment defect of the NLC was observed above annealing temperature of 200 $^{\circ}C$. Consequently, the good thermal stability of LC alignment by the UV alignment method on the a-C:H thin film surface can be achieved.

  • Since the stationary alignment process of the SDINS is not completely observable, some furls of the aided alignment have been applied. The purpose of this paper is to propose a new initial alignment algorithm, which utilizes the attitude output from the AGPS(Attitude Determination GPS) receiver and to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed algorithm with several experimental results. A Kalman filter is designed for utilizing the attitude output as well as the zero velocity information. Also analyzed is the observability of the SDINS error model. To show the feasibility of the proposed scheme, we implement an alignment system where HG1700AE IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) from Honeywell and an AGPS receiver designed at Chungnam National University are used. Test trials are done to evaluate the performance of the proposed alignment scheme. The proposed algorithm provides as good initial alignment performance as a high accurate navigation system, MAPS(Modular Azimuth Positioning System) INS.

  • A measurement of spacecraft alignment is an important process of spacecraft assembly, integration and test. Because, it is necessary that a operator of a ground station controls the precise positions of on-orbit spacecraft by using the alignment data of attitude orbit control sensors(AOCS) on spacecraft. And, an accuracy of spacecraft alignment requirement is about $0.1^{\circ}{\sim}0.7^{\circ}$. A spacecraft alignment is measured by autocollimation of theodolite. This paper describes the measurement principle and method of spacecraft alignment. The result shows that all the AOCS on the spacecraft are aligned within the tolerance required through the alignment measurement.

  • It is called self-alignment or initial alignment that INS(Inertial Navigation System) is aligned using the measurements from the inertial sensors as an accelerometer and a gyroscope and the inserted reference navigation information in the stop state. The main purpose of self-alignment is to obtain the initial attitude of INS. The accuracy of self-alignment is determined by the performance grade of the used inertial sensors, especially horizontal attitude accuracy by the horizontal accelerometer and vertical attitude accuracy by the E-axis gyroscope. Therefore the uncertain errors in the inertial sensors cause the performance of self-alignment to degrade. In this paper, we analyze theoretically and through a simulation how the errors of inertial sensors in the temperature stabilizing state, one of the uncertain errors, affect the accuracy of self-alignment.

Technical-Economical Evaluation of Chain Vertical Alignment in Underground Urban Subways: The Case of Qom Subway, Line A

  • Urban subways are one of the main parts of urban transportation networks in every city that always requires much attention in order to improve its efficiency in aspects of safety, reliability speed and costs. As the viewpoint of costs, an accurate design, especially design of vertical alignment, can have a dominant role to reduce the costs of urban railway projects. This paper seeks to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of designing chain vertical alignment for urban subways in compare to flat vertical alignment. To achieve this goal, line A of Qom subway in Iran was selected as a case study in this research. Five parameters considered in the technical-economical evaluation: (1) energy consumption, (2) rolling stock, (3) operation, (4) civil works and geotechnical and (5) hydrological, drainage and pumping. According to the results, a power saving of about 40% have been estimated in the chain vertical alignment for the train without regenerative braking in compare with the flat vertical alignment, although the power saving was calculated less than 10% for the train with regenerative braking. Finally it was found that due to the modern rolling stock technology, the chain vertical alignment represents fewer advantages in compare to the past years.

  • Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) are widely used as the main navigation device for aircraft. To get the initial attitude, the INS requires the initial alignment before navigation starts. An aircraft also needs an engine test procedure that causes some vibrations before flight. An INS can't be aligned in a vibration environment so the initial alignment is performed before the aircraft engine test. Therefore, the initial alignment time of an INS has been a major factor in limiting an aircraft's takeoff response time. In this paper, we designed an initial alignment algorithm that can be executed even in disturbances such as aircraft run-up. We demonstrated verification of the algorithm that is embedded on the real INS and testing methods to evaluate the alignment of the INS. We also analyzed the test results of the proposed initial alignment algorithm that is performed during a real aircraft run-up.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE OPTICAL ALIGNMENT SYSTEM FOR FIB SECONDARY OF THE 1.8M OPTICAL TELESCOPE (보현산천문대 1.8m 광학 망원경 f/8 부경 광축 조정 장치 개발)

  • We propose the development and test result of new optical axis alignment system for the interchangeable F/8 secondary mirror of the BOAO 1.8m telescope system. Since the original system was not equipped with a suitable optical alignment facility, the whole alignment process was performed by hand. It was necessary at least three persons working more than 2 nights and the altitude of the telescope could not exceed 10 degrees, in such altitude the alignment quality was not so good by atmospheric effect. The new system adopts position readable motorized system and remote control operation by the computer installed in observation room, which reduces the number of workers to only one and eliminates the altitude restriction. The defocused CCD image pair obtained at higher altitude makes the aberration estimates more accurately and the number of required alignment loops is reduced from 10 to 4. The system has been installed on September 1, and performed alignment three times. The test results show that the system is stable and accurate, gives better optical performance of the telescope under F/8 focus. We hope to emphasize the fact that the new system will increase observation time of the telescope by about 20 nights per year assuming one alignment in every month.

Self-Alignment and Bonding of Microparts Using Adhesive Droplets

  • This paper describes the self-alignment and bonding of microparts using adhesive surface tension to assemble microsystems in air. The alignment and bonding were tested experimentally using adhesive droplets, and the resulting performance was evaluated. The adhesive, which was inorganic and water-soluble before hardening, was diluted with water to a ratio of 10:1 so that its surface tension generated a sufficient restoring force for self-alignment. The experimental results showed that the average of the alignment errors obtained using the adhesive on $1.0\times1.0\times0.15-mm$ microparts was less than $2{\mu}m$ in the X and Y directions and 0.2 degrees in the e direction. These alignment errors were almost the same as those obtained using water. The use of a suitable adhesive had no negative effects on the alignment accuracy. The average tensile strength of the adhesive bond after self-alignment was $0.61N/mm^2$.
