We propose a surveillance-alert system based on optimal placements of PDR(Pulsed Doppler Radar) sensors in USN. By using the detection information of moving target from PDR sensor and by considering the covered detection region and geographical property of the strategic area, three optimal placements of sensors are proposed. The proposed placement are named as the grid type, the linear type and the zigzag type. Also, the surveillance alert system based on three sensor placements are developed. The alert level of the proposed surveillance-alert system are 'Perception', 'Caution', 'Warning' and 'Danger' which are decided by the distance change between the moving targets and the command post. The performace of the developed system is verified via outdoor experiments.
Intrusion detection is a process that identifies the attacks and responds to the malicious intrusion actions for the protection of the computer and the network resources. Due to the fast development of the Internet, the types of intrusions become more complex recently and need immediate and correct responses because the frequent occurrences of a new intrusion type rise rapidly. Therefore, to solve these problems of the intrusion detection systems, we propose a sequential pattern miner for analysis of the alert data in order to support intelligent and automatic detection of the intrusion. Sequential pattern mining is one of the methods to find the patterns among the extracted items that are frequent in the fixed sequences. We apply the prefixSpan algorithm to find out the alert sequences. This method can be used to predict the actions of the sequential patterns and to create the rules of the intrusions. In this paper, we propose an extended prefixSpan algorithm which is designed to consider the specific characteristics of the alert data. The extended sequential pattern miner will be used as a part of alert data analyzer of intrusion detection systems. By using the created rules from the sequential pattern miner, the HA(high-level alert analyzer) of PEP(policy enforcement point), usually called IDS, performs the prediction of the sequence behaviors and changing patterns that were not visibly checked.

In this paper, we propose a distributed communication model of intrusion detection system(IDS) in which integrated security management at networks level is possible, model it at a security node and distributed system levels, design and implement a simulator. At the node level, we evaluate the transfer capability of alert message based on the analysis of giga-bit security node architecture which performs hardware-based intrusion detection. At the distributed system level, we perform the evaluation of transfer capability of detection and alert informations between components of distributed IDS. In the proposed model, we carry out the performance evaluation considering decision factors of communication mechanism and present the results in order to gain some quantitative understanding of the system.

Sudden wind changes at low altitudes pose a significant threat to aircraft operations. In particular, airports located in regions with complex terrain are susceptible to frequent abrupt wind variations, affecting aircraft takeoff and landing. To mitigate these risks, Low Level Wind shear Alert System (LLWAS) have been implemented at airports. This study focuses on understanding the characteristics of wind shear and developing a prediction model for Jeju International Airport, which experiences frequent wind shear due to the influence of Halla Mountain and its surrounding terrain. Using two years of LLWAS data, the study examines the occurrence patterns of wind shear at Jeju International Airport. Additionally, high-resolution numerical model is utilized to produce forecasted information on wind shear. Furthermore, a comparison is made between the predicted wind shear and LLWAS observation data to assess the prediction performance. The results demonstrate that the prediction model shows high accuracy in predicting wind shear caused by southerly winds.
With the growing deployment of network and internet, the importance of security is also increased. But, recent intrusion detection systems which have an important position in security countermeasure can't provide proper analysis and effective defence mechanism. Instead, they have overwhelmed human operator by large volume of intrusion detection alerts. In this paper, we propose an efficient alert analysis system that can produce high level information by analyzing and processing the large volume of alerts and can detect large-scale attacks such as DDoS in early stage. And we have measured processing rate of each elementary module and carried out a scenario-based test in order to analyzing efficiency of our proposed system.
With the need to evaluate accuracy of real-time measurement of cyanobacterial fluorescence to determine cyanobacterial blooms, this research examined 357 paired data (2013-2016) comprising both microscopic toxic cyanobacterial cell counts and concurrent real-time cyanobacterial concentrations at 2 sites (YS1 and YS2) in Yeongsan river. The increase in real-time cyanobacterial concentration was closely associated with the exceedance of 5,000 cyanobacterial cells/ml (odds ratio [OR] 1.07, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.03-1.12) and 10,000 cells/ml (OR 1.08, 95% CI 1.04-1.12) at YS2 site. The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve for the real-time cyanobacterial measurement at the YS2 site was 0.93, which indicates the measurement provides a high accurate detection of cyanobacterial blooms. On the ROC curve, the early alert levels of real-time cyanobacteria ranging $16-23{\mu}g$ chl-a/L would produce acceptable sensitivity of 79% and specificities greater than 90%. The real-time fluorescence measurement was found to be an accurate indicator of cyanobacteria and can serve as a tool for detecting toxic cyanobacterial bloom events in Youngsan river.

This paper presents the simulation results of GBAS availability and requirement (with respected to Vertical Protection Level) using simulated data at CAT I, CAT II/III DH point (Decision Height), which are generated using Jeju international GNSS reference position, aircraft horizontal velocity and reference/aircraft GNSS antenna performance index and so on. Two kinds of protection levels are presented, one is from a hypothesis (H0) and other is from a alternative hypothesis (H1). These protection levels are compared with AL (Alert Limit), and we analyse the GBAS availability and requirement for CAT I and CAT II/III at the airport.
In this study, alarm sound generated as a priority alert system propagation through an elevator shaft in apartment buildings were simulated using room acoustic simulation software. The simulations were conducted on three kinds of elevator hall plan with a different number of elevators and placement. First, the elevator shaft without sound absorption material was simulated as a condition of the present. When the distance from the alarm sound generating floor became farther, alarm sound level was decreased. However, the alarm sound level three-floor distance was about 54 dB(A)~56 dB(A) which were louder than a background sound level of typical apartment buildings. Sound absorption material placement proposed by previous studies were simulated and the alarm sound levels were decreased about 12 dB~16 dB. These levels were similar or lower than the background level of apartment buildings. From these results, it can be concluded that placing sound absorption material on the surface of the elevator shaft wall can be one of the methods to control the alarm sound as regulated in NFSC.

Purpose: Overtriage and undertriage rates are critical metrics in trauma, influenced by both trauma team activation (TTA) criteria and compliance with these criteria. Analysis of undertriaged patients at a level I trauma center revealed suboptimal compliance with existing criteria. This study assessed triage patterns after implementing compliance-focused process interventions. Methods: A physician-driven, free-text alert system was modified to a nonphysician, hospital dispatcher-guided system. The latter employed dropdown menus to maximize compliance with criteria. The preintervention period included patients who presented between May 12, 2020, and December 31, 2020. The postintervention period incorporated patients who presented from May 12, 2021, through December 31, 2021. We evaluated appropriate triage, overtriage, and undertriage using the Standardized Trauma Assessment Tool. Statistical analyses were conducted with an α level of 0.05. Results: The new system was associated with improved compliance with existing TTA criteria (from 70.3% to 79.3%, P=0.023) and decreased undertriage (from 6.0% to 3.2%, P=0.002) at the expense of increasing overtriage (from 46.6% to 57.4%, P<0.001), ultimately decreasing the appropriate triage rate (from 78.4% to 74.6%, P=0.007). Conclusions: This study assessed a workflow change designed to improve compliance with TTA criteria. Improved compliance decreased undertriage to below the target threshold of 5%, albeit at the expense of increased overtriage. The decrease in appropriate triage despite compliance improvements suggests that the current criteria at this institution are not adequately tailored to optimally balance the minimization of undertriage and overtriage. This finding underscores the importance of improved compliance in evaluating the efficacy of TTA criteria.

Background: High-alert medications (HAMs) are medications that bear a heightened risk of causing significant patient harm if used in error. To facilitate safe use of HAMs, identifying specific HAM lists for clinical setting is necessary. We aimed to develop the national level HAM list for acute care setting. Methods: We used three-step process. First, we compiled the pre-existing lists referring HAMs. Second, we analyzed medication related incidents reported from national patient safety incident report data and adverse events indicating medication errors from the Korea Adverse Event Reporting System (KAERS). We also surveyed the assistant staffs to support patient safety tasks and pharmacist in charge of medication safety in acute care hospital. From findings from analysis and survey results we created additional candidate list of HAMs. Third, we derived the final list for HAMs in acute care settings through expert panel surveys. Results: From pre-existing HAM list, preliminary list consisting of 42 medication class/ingredients was derived. Eight assistant staff to support patient safety tasks and 39 pharmacists in charge of medication safety responded to the survey. Additional 44 medication were listed from national patient safety incident report data, KAERS data and common medications involved in prescribing errors and dispensing errors from survey data. A list of mandatory and optional HAMs consisting of 10 and 6 medication classes, respectively, was developed by consensus of the expert group. Conclusion: We developed national level HAM list for Korean acute care setting from pre-existing lists, analyzing medication error data, survey and expert panel consensus.
