상호확산법에 의한 (Ti,Al)N계 복합질화물의 합성 (Synthesis of (Ti,Al)N Powder by Interdiffusion Nitriding Method)

  • TiN and AlN are ceramic materials with extensive applications due to its excellent mechanical and chemical properties at elevated temperature. The purpose of this research is to develop the method for the synthesis of ternary nitride powder, titanium-aluminum-nitrogen system, which have an excellent property of both TiN and AlN. The ternary nitride such as $Ti_3AlN$, $Ti_2AlN$ and $Ti_3Al_2N_2$ can be synthesized by the interdiffusion nitriding method in Ar gas, however, the ternary nitride coexist with TiN, AlN, $Ti_3Al$ and ${\alpha}$-Ti. The ternary nitride are stable below $1400^{\circ}C$, but these are gradually decomposed into TiN, $Ti_3Al$ and AlN above $1400^{\circ}C$. The thermal oxidation characteristics of the Ti-Al-N compound synthesized by the interdiffusion nitriding method is superior to that of the TiN+AlN mixed powder, and the oxidation for both materials show the differential behaviors.

  • A non-equilibrium powder metallurgy processing such as an MA/SPS (Mechanical Alloying / Spark Plasma Sintering) process is examined in a Ti-48moll%Al. TiAl intermetallic compound is a potential light-weight/high-temperature structural material. One of the major problems, however, limiting the practical use of the material is its poor workability. From this point, the powder metallurgy (PM) processing route has been attractive alternative of the conventional processing for such material The MA/SPS process is able to apply to a LIGA process. Optimization of the pseudo-superplasticity enables to fabricate micro-parts made of fine grained ceramics composites of TiAl by the LIGA process.

다층원소박판에서 $TiAl_3$의 고온자전합성에 미치는 승온속도의 영향 (Effect of Heating Rate on Self-Propagating, High-Temperature Synthesis of $TiAl_3$ Intermetallic from Multi-Layered Elemental Foils)

  • Ti 과 AI의 고순도 원소 박판을 이용하여 열간프레스장치에서 고온자전합성법으로 TiAI계 금속간화합물을 제조하였다. 원소 박판에서 $TiAl_3$ 금속간화합물을 제조하는 데 승온속도, 압력, 온도 등의 변수가 고온자전합성에 영향을 미치는 중요한 인자다. 특히 승온속도는 반응합성온도를 결정하는 인자로서 본 실험에서 DTA 분석을 이용하여 공정변수를 결정하였다. DTA 분석결과에 따르면, Ti와 AI의 계면에서 반응합성은 AI의 용융점 이하와 이상의 온도에서 두 번 발생함을 알 수 있다. 또한 승온속도가 증가할수록 두 반응합성온도는 증가하였다. 10층의 Ti 박판과 9층의 AI 박판을 $20^{\circ}C$/min의 승온속도로 고온자전합성시킨 후, $810^{\circ}C$와 240MPa의 압력에서 4시간 동안 열처리한 결과 $700\mu\textrm{m}$ 두께의 TiAI계 금속간화합물 판재를 제조하였으며, XRD 회절과 SEM으로 확인하였다.

Ti-33.8wt% Al 금속간 화합물의 고온 산화거동 (High temperature oxidation behavior of Ti-33.8wt% Al intermetallic compounds)

  • The oxidation behavior of a two-phase(Ti3Al+TiAl) intermetallic compound, Ti-33.8wt%Al, has been in-vestigated in air at 800, 900 and $^1000{\circ}C$. Though the isothermal oxidation behavior followed a parabolic law up to 100$0^{\circ}C$ indicating that protective oxide scales were formed, the cyclic oxidation behavior followed a lin-ear law in the entire temperature range tested because flaky or stratified scales were usually spalled from the surface during cooling. During oxidation at 80$0^{\circ}C$, the alloy showed excellent oxidation resistance because continuous protective Al2O3 films were formed on the outermost surface of the alloy. However, above $900^{\circ}C$, the oxidation resistance of the alloy was decreased gradually because relatively non-protective TiO2 scales as well as some of Al2O3 scales were formed on the outer oxide scale. The oxidation mechanism of the alloy at different temperature was proposed.

  • Recent developing tendency of thermal spray for green automotive industry are studied by searching of NDSL, KIPRIS, ScienceDirect and so on. Spraying techniques such as plasma spray, microwave treatment, dry-ice blasting, HVOF thermal spray, cold spraying, aerosol deposition are introduced, further more spraying materials such as nano particles, intermetallic compound, TiAlN, TiC, Si-Al alloys are investigated.

  • A transmission electron microscope (TEM) investigation has been performed on the precipitation of $L2_1$-type $Ni_2AlTi$ phase in B2-ordered NiAl system. The hardness after solution treatment is high in NiAl-Ti alloys suggesting the large contribution of solid solution strengthening in this alloy system. However, the amount of age hardening is not large as compared to the large microstructural variations during aging. At the beginning of aging, the $L2_1$-type $Ni_2AlTi$ precipitates keep a lattice coherency with the NiAl matrix. By longer periods of aging $Ni_2AlTi$ precipitates lose their coherency and change their morphology to the globular ones surrounded by misfit dislocations. Misfit dislocations, which are observed on {100} planes of H-precipitates have the Burgers vector of a <100> with a pure edge type. The lattice misfits of NiAl-$Ni_2AlTi$ system is estimated from the spacings of misfit dislocations to be 1.1% at 1273 K. The lattice misfits decrease with increasing aging temperature in this system.

  • SrTiO3 :Al, Pr phosphor as an oxide compound phosphor is expect to be applied for a field emission display(FED). In this phosphor the excitation spectrum shows a different tendency according to an addition Al3+ and Pr3+ In this excitation spectrum the main peak at 359 nm represent excitation level of Pr3+(1S0longrightarrow1D2 transition) and the absorption characteristic according to Ti/Sr molar ratio is influenced by the structure symmetry. The emission spectrum exhibits the red luminescence with the radiative decay of the 1D2 states(1D2 longrightarrow3H4 transition) The concentration quenching phenomena at 1D2 state shows up as Al3+ and Pr3+ ion concentration increases.

열처리에 따른 TiAl금속간화합물의 층상조직 변화 (Changes of Lamellar Structure of TiAl Intermetallic Compound Heat Treatment)

  • The changes of lamellar(${\alpha}_2+{\gamma}$) structure of TiAl intermetallic compound which is a high potential, high temperature aerospace material was investigated by heat treatment. The lamellar structure was short and made subgrain in prior a grains after homogenizing at 1523 K. It became longer and finer, and the subgrain went out during subsequent isothermal heatteating at 1273 K. The yield, fracture strength and strain to fracture if the heat treated specimens was increased and the hardness of them was decreased a little in the finer lamellar structure, because fine lamellar interface, sugrain boundary and grain boundary may block initiation and propagation of crack.
