  • A cyclocopter with the cycloidal blades system can be the type of UAV which can combine the high-speed characteristics of the conventional airplane with the low-speed characteristics of the helicopter. The cycloidal blades system, which can be described as a horizontal rotary wing, offers powerful thrust levels, and a unique ability to change the direction of the thrust almost instantly. Rotor blades are designed to withstand tremendous transverse centrifugal loadings, and responding to a number of aerodynamic harmonic vibratory forcing frequencies. To reduce the weight and increase the strength, the blades are made of composite materials. The blades consist of the skin, spar, and trailing stiffener. In this study, static and dynamic behaviors of cyclocopter rotor blades are analyzed by using MSC/NASTRAN.

  • Researchers have recently begun using high spatial resolution remote-sensing data, which are automatically captured and georeferenced, to assess damage following natural and man-made disasters, in addition to, or instead of employing the older methods of walking house-to-house for surveys, or photographing individual buildings from an airplane. This research establishes quantitative relationships between the damage states observed at ground-level, and those observed from space using high spatial resolution remote-sensing data, for windstorms, for individual site-built one- or two-family residences (FR12). "Degrees of Damage" (DOD) from the Enhanced Fujita (EF) Scale were determined for ground-based damage states; damage states were also assigned for remote-sensing imagery, using a modified version of Womble's Remote-Sensing (RS) Damage Scale. The preliminary developed model can be used to predict the ground-level damage state using remote-sensing imagery, which could significantly lessen the time and expense required to assess the damage following a windstorm.

  • Recently, super heat-resistant alloy Inconel 600 come into spotlight as the material of airplane parts but this material causes lots of problems that is, reduction of machinability and attritious wear and breakage of cutting tool during turning processing due to high temperature strength and cohesion between tool material and Inconel 600. Therefore, in this study, it was purposed to determine tool material kind and to select of proper cutting range when turning process was carried out for Inconel 600. In order to these Purpose, coated carbide tool and ceramic tool was used in this experiment and the machinability of Inconel 600 was investigated from perspective of the cutting force, chipping and wear of tool and deposition phenomenon of chip.

  • In recent days the more use of CFRP composite is in the airplane, automobile, and sport goods, etc., the more necessity of research on it in this engineering. In this research, the CFRP composite specimen are fabricated by 48 CFRP plies with 6 stacking sequences, and the specimens are drilled with 4 tools. The results are analyzed with consideration of cutting force, type of tools and fabrication condition. The specimens with each drilling conditions are also investigated with SEM. The optimal drilling conditions such as drill types and cutting force with respect to the fabricating condition are studied.

  • Humans rely on the availability of a supply of gaseous oxygen for survival. If the minimal requirements for oxygen are not met, both mental and physical abilities and performance are degraded rapidly. So oxygen systems are required for the aircraft operating at high altitude to prevent physical and psychological problems, or loss of consciousness in an aircraft pilot, flight crew, or passengers. If oxygen system and equipments are to be included in the type design of an airplane, applicant should consider applicable airworthiness requirements and operating rules. In this paper we analyze the various oxygen system requirements for the type of aircraft, oxygen system, and operating conditions.

  • The supersonic speeds slowing down by shock waves is a common problem during the transonic region. So how to study the status of shock on the surface of airplane and wings is crucial adjective during transonic region. However, the theoretical and computational transonic flow problems were very hard. This paper introduced using Navier-Stokes Schemes to study characteristics of AGARD Wing 445.6 by ANSYS CFX in transonic region. From simulations results, as the Mach number increases, shock waves appear in the flowfield, getting stronger as the speed increases, these shock waves will lead to a rapid increase in drag.

  • This study is to identify the hazard of ozone and to evaluate ozone effect that is flowed into the cabin when the airplane is flying at high altitude. For this purpose, it is studied that how ozone is generated in the air, what the effect on human body is due to the cabin ozone and what the design criteria is considering or preventing the ozone hazard. And, finally the regulations and means of compliance are studied and introduced to assure that the aircraft satisfies the design criteria related to ozone.

  • Free from curves and surfaces are frequently used in designing engineering products such as car, ship, airplane, and hosing of electronic households. In many aspect, it is very nice to use the cutter radius compensation function of CNC controller when contour machining a 2-dimensional curve. However, if the 2D curve is a parametric spline, it is not easy to apply the cutter radius compensation function of CNC controller to the NC data obtained from many commercial CAM system. This is mainly due to the error magnification effect when offsetting line segments with inevitable round-off error at their vertices. Proposed in this paper is an approach to contour machining a 2D parametric spline while using cutter radius compensation. Some implementation results are included.

  • SEMAS(Smart Electro-Mechanical Actuation System), which enhances the flight performance and interior comforts of the airplane is selected as the prime actuation device for the Boeing 787 Environmental Control System. In the present study, fluid-structure interaction analysis process that simultaneously considers interaction by structural deformation and the fluid dynamics has been established. The integrated analysis shows there is slight structure-deformation which causes no severe interference among the structural components.

  • The use of the internet to facilitate commerce among companies promises vast benefits. Lots of e-marketplaces are building for several industries such as chemistry, airplane, and automobile industries. This study provides the new B2B EC business model for the shipping industry which concerns relatively massive fixed assets to be fully utilized. To be successful the proposed model gives participants useful information. To do this the expert system is constructed with the hybrid prediction system of neural network (NN) and memory based reasoning (MBR) with self-organizing map (SOM) and knowledge augmentation technique using qualitative reasoning (QR). The expert system supports participants useful information coping with dynamic market environment. with this shipping companies are induced to participate in the proposed e-marketplace and helped for exchanges easily. Also participants would utilize their assets fully through B2B exchanges.
