The thermo-mechanical analysis and test were performed for plate structure under mechanical and thermal loading conditions. Infrared heating system and hydraulic loading system were used to simulate mechanical and thermal environment for the plate structure which is similar to the fin of the airframe. Also, FEM analysis using plastic option was added to evaluate thermo-mechanical behavior. Thermo-mechanical tests were conducted at elevated temperature and rapid heating(10℃/sec) condition with external loading together. To investigate the effect of heating environment, the strength at room temperature was compared with that of elevated temperature and rapid heating condition. A methodology for test and analysis for supersonic vehicle subjected to aerodynamic loading and heating was generated through the study. These experimental and analysis results can be used for designing thermal resistance structures of the supersonic vehicle.

This paper discusses the test procedure, instrumentation, verification methodology and the results of the ground vibration test(GVT) performed on the KF-16D aircraft to estimate experimentally dynamic characteristics of the aircraft. The modal tests for 7 external store configurations were conducted to estimate effects of external stores on the aircraft vibration modes. To emulate free-free boundary conditions the test aircraft was mounted on its landing gear structure with deflated tires during the GVT. The airframe modal tests were done by burst random excitations with 6 to 8 shakers and about 200 accelerometers. Frequency response functions(FRFs) were measured for each test, and the FRFs were reduced and analyzed to identify the dynamic parameters interested. The analyses were carried out in two steps. To extract modal parameters such as, frequencies and damping ratios, the poly-reference least square complex exponential method was used in the time domain. The mode shape coefficients were estimated with the least squares frequency domain method to identify the vibration modes.
Purpose: Aerial application of chemicals with an agricultural helicopter allows for precise and timely spraying and reduces working labor and pollution. An attitude controller for an agricultural helicopter would be helpful to aerial application operator. The objectives of this paper are to determine the transfer function models and to estimate the handling qualities of a bare-airframe model helicopter. Methods: Transfer functions of a model unmanned helicopter were estimated by using NAVFIT and DERIVID modules of the $CIFER^{(R)}$ program to the time history data of frequency sweep flight tests. Control inputs of the transfer functions were elevator, aileron, rudder and collective pitch stick positions and the outputs were resulting on-axis movements of the fuselage. Results: Minimum realization of the transfer functions for pitch rate output to elevator control input and roll rate output to aileron control input produced second order transfer functions with undamped natural frequencies around 3.0 Hz and damping ratios of 0.139 and 0.530, respectively. The equivalent time delays of the transfer functions ranged from 0.16 to 0.44 second. Sensitivity analysis of the proposed parameters allowed derivation of minimal realization of the transfer functions. Conclusions: Handling quality of the model helicopter was addressed based on the eigenvalues of the transfer functions, corresponding undamped natural frequencies with damping ratios. The equivalent time delays of the lateral-directional motion ranged from 0.16 to 0.44 second, longer than the 0.1 to 0.15 second requirement for well-controlled typical manned aerial vehicles.

This paper intends to develop the rotor track and balance (RTB) algorithm using the nonlinear RTB models and a real-coded hybrid genetic algorithm. The RTB response data computed using the trim solutions with variation of the adjustment parameters have been used to build nonlinear RTB models based on the quadratic interpolation functions. Nonlinear programming problems to minimize the track deviations and the airframe vibration responses have been formulated to find optimum settings of balance weights, trim-tab deflections, and pitch-link lengths of each blade. The results are efficiently resolved using the real-coded genetic algorithm hybridized with the particle swarm optimization techniques for convergence acceleration. The nonlinear RTB models and the optimized RTB parameters have been compared with those computed using the linear models to validate the proposed techniques. The results showed that the nonlinear models lead to more accurate models and reduced RTB responses than the linear counterpart.
The fatigue happening during the road riding of the vehicle and for the moment the aircraft lands on the runway is closely related to the life cycle of the landing gear, the airframe, the vehicle's suspension, etc. The multiple loads acting on the wheel are longitudinal, lateral, vertical, and braking forces. To study the dynamic characteristics and fatigue stiffness of the vehicle, the dynamic fatigue simulator generally has been used to represent the real road vibration in the lab. It can save time and cost. In hardware, the critical factor in the hydraulic fatigue simulator structure is to decouple each axis and to endure several load vibration. In this paper, the inverse kinematic analysis method derives the magnitude of movement of the hydraulic servo actuator by the coupling after rendering the maximum movement displacement in the axial direction at the center of the dummy wheel. The result of the analysis is that the coupling between the axes is weak to reproduce the real road vibrations precisely.

In this work the realistic install performance analysis of a helicopter was performed together with power extraction enabling to operate auxiliary system as well as intake pressure loss, loss due to bleed air, etc. which must be considered in practical propulsion system's performance modelling to be installed to the airframe. The pressure loss occurring in intake was estimated from the intake performance map with relationships of Mach Number and pressure loss. In order to evaluate the proposed installed performance model, the experimental data for comparison must be needed when mounted in propulsion system. However because of lack of accessibility to such real data at the moment, the alternative way was made through comparison that the analysis results by the proposed model were compared with a wellknown commercial program GASTURB's analysis results. The validity of the proposed installed performance model was consequently confirmed because its average deferences from the GASTURB's results were within 0.5%.

A non-lethal weapon is a device that can subdue targets without causing death or mortal wounds. A high-intensity flash generator can negate electro-optical sensors and cause temporal flash blindness with a high intensity of light. In this study, we derive the design parameters of an explosive-driven high-intensity flash generator that uses the interaction of plasma caused by the detonation of explosives with surrounding inert gas. To determine the design parameters of the flash generator, we analyze test results measured using optical sensors. The experimental results show that the light intensity of xenon gas is about four times higher than that of air. In addition, the intensity increases with the weight of the explosive, and the inert gas cross-sectional area encountered a shock wave in the airframe. The light intensity caused by a double-initiation generator is about two times higher than that of the single-initiation generator.
The hydrodynamic ram (HRAM) phenomenon is one of the main types of ballistic battle damages of a military aircraft and has great importance to airframe survivability design. The HRAM effect occurs due to the interaction between the fluid and structure, and damage can be investigated by measuring the pressure of the fluid and the dynamic strains on the structure. In this paper, HRAM test of a composite T-Joint was performed using a ram simulator which can generate HRAM pressure. In addition, calibration tests of PVDF sensor were performed to determine the circuit capacitance and time constant of the measurement system. The failure behavior of the composite T-Joint due to HRAM pressure was examined using the strain gauges and a PVDF sensor which were attached to the surface of the composite T-Joint.

This paper introduces a simulator to assess the impacts of the wind and the airframe vibration on the performance of the Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar mounted in an aircraft. The AESA radar is mounted on the nose cone of an aircraft, and vibration occurs due to the drag force. This vibration affects the behavior of the AESA radar and can cause phase errors in signal. The simulator adopts the geometric model for nose cone, the mathematical models on the rigid-body dynamics of the aircraft, the average/turbulent winds, and the mode/ambient vibrations to compute the position and the attitude of the radar accurately. Numerical studies reflecting a set of test scenarios were conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed simulator.
