A CFD Study of Roadside Barrier Impact on the Dispersion of Road Air Pollution

  • This study evaluated road shape and roadside barrier impact on near-road air pollution dispersion using FLUENT computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model. Simulated road shapes are three types, namely at-grade, depressed, and filled road. The realizable k-${\varepsilon}$ model in FLUENT CFD code was used to simulate the flow and dispersion around road. The selected concentration profile results were compared with the wind tunnel experiments. The overall concentration profile results show good agreement with the wind tunnel results. The results showed that noise barriers, which positioned around the at-grade road, decrease the horizontal impact distance (In this study, the impact distance was defined as the distance from road surface origin coordinate to the position whose mass fraction is 0.1.) lower 0.33~0.65 times and change the vertical air pollution impact distance larger 2.0~2.27 times than those of no barrier case. In case of filled road, noise barriers decrease the horizontal impact distance lower 0.24~0.65 times and change the vertical air pollution impact distance larger 3.33~3.55 times than those of no barrier case. The depressed road increase 1.53~1.68 times the vertical air pollution impact distance. It contributes the decrease of horizontal air pollution impact distance 0.32~0.60 times compare with no barrier case.

  • This study is undertaken to evaluate the characteristics of cross contamination around exterior air-vents. A CFD analysis has been performed to calculate the cross contamination index for five exterior air-vents sizes according to the outdoor air velocity and separation distance of it. From the result of the numerical method, As the outdoor air velocity is increased, the cross contamination index is increased. on the contrary, as the separation distance of exterior air-vents is increased, the cross contamination index is decreased, additionally the cross contamination is affected by the aspect ratio of the size of exterior Air-vents.

대형항공사와 장거리 LCC의 장거리 노선 네트워크 구축에 관한 연구 - 말레이시아 항공과 AirAsia X를 중심으로 (A Study on the Establishment of Long-Distance Route Network of Full Service Carrier and Long-Distance LCC - Focused on Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia X)

  • 본 연구는 장거리 LCC인 AirAsia X의 네트워크 구축에 있어서의 특성을 FSC인 말레이시아 항공과 비교 분석하여 장거리 노선 진입 및 확대에 도움을 줄 수 있는 방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 장거리 노선 데이터를 OAG Schedule Analyser로부터 추출하여 SNA를 이용해 2개 시기 단위로 네트워크를 분석하였다. AirAsia X의 장거리 노선 진입 이후 말레이시아 항공은 유럽 및 중동 지역뿐만 아니라 전체적으로 꾸준히 노선이 축소된 것으로 나타났다. 반면 AirAsia X는 유럽 지역 등 초장거리 대신 중국을 중심으로 동북아시아 지역의 네트워크를 더욱 늘리면서 더욱 확대된 네트워크를 구축하고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 연구 결과 LCC 또한 7,000km 이하 장거리 노선 시장에서 성장 가능성이 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 안정적인 성장을 하기 위해서는 수익성 높은 일부 노선에 우선 진입한 뒤 보수적인 시각에서 단계적으로 노선을 확대하는 것이 매우 필요한 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구의 결과는 LCC의 장거리 시장 진입 및 네트워크 구축전략을 수립하는 것에 도움이 될 수 있을 것이다.

Development of Gap Measuring System Between Strip and Air Knife in Continuous Galvanizing Line

  • In continuous galvanizing process at steel making plant, coating weight on the surface of strip that pass through air knife is controlled by the pressure at the chamber of air knife and the gap between the nozzle of air knife and strip. The pressure can be easily measured and controlled. But it is difficult to measure the distance between Air knife nozzle and strip, and also difficult to decide how much distance air knife move. Because, the gap between nozzle and strip varies with the height of air knife, intermesh of stabilizing roll and welding of strips that have different thickness. In this research, we developed a gap sensor that can measure the relative distance between Air knife nozzle and strip. Numerical Simulation of an Impinging Jet with Various Nozzle-to-strip Distances in the Air-knife System

  • When galvanized steel strip is produced through a continuous hot-dip galvanizing process, the thickness of the adhered zinc film is controlled by impinging a thin plane nitrogen gas jet. The thickness of the zinc film is generally affected by impinging pressure distribution, its gradient and shearing stress at the steel strip. These factors are influenced by static pressure of gas spraying at air knife nozzle, a nozzle-to-strip distance and strip and a geometric shape of the air knife, as well. At industries, galvanized steel strip is produced by changing static pressure of gas and a distance between the air knife nozzle and strip based on experimental values but remaining a geometric shape of nozzle. Splashing and check-mark strain can generally occur when a distance between the air knife nozzle and strip is too short, while ability of zinc removal can lower due to pressure loss of impinging jet when a distance between the air knife nozzle and strip is too long. In present study, buckling of the jet and change of static pressure are observed by analyzing flow characteristics of the impinging jet. The distance from the nozzle exit to the strip varies from 6 mm to 16 mm by an increment of 2 mm. Moreover, final coating thickness with change of a distance between the air knife nozzle and strip is compared with each case. An ability of zinc removal with the various distances is predicted by numerically calculating the final coating thickness.

간헐탈진형 충격기류식 여과집진장치의 여과포 반사거리 예측 (Prediction of Off-line Type Pulse Air Jet Bag Filter Reflection Distance)

  • The purpose of this study is to predict the reflection distance following to the pulsing pressure, total air supplying, filter bag size using numercial analysis techniques and use it as an efficient operation condition and economic data for off-line type pulse air jet bag filter. In this research, filtration area 6 m2 condition, calculate filter resistance coefficient for simulation through the main experiments using coke dust. Ansys fluent V19.0 apply to CFD simulation, and analysis pulsing characteristics about pulsing pressure, filtration velocity and nozzle diameter. The maximum reflecting distance of off-line type pulse air jet bag filter is 1,000 mm regardless of total air supplying at over the 42 L/m2 conditions, that indicates off-line type can extend filter bag length 1,000 mm than on-line type. In order to effective primary and secondary pulsing of off-line type pulse air jet bag filter, over the 5 bar of pulsing pressure and over the 42 L/m2 of total air supplying are needed.

  • The effects of air-gap distance on properties of cellulose fiber spun from the 6 wt% solution of cellulose in monohydrate N-methylmorpholine N-oxide (NMMO) were investigated. The diameter of fiber spun was drastically reduced in 10 cm of air-gap distance at fixed drawing speed, however, no great change was observed beyond 40 cm. As the distance lengthened, the Cellulose II structure was first appeared and followed by Cellulose II and IV mixed morphology. Also the degree of crystallinity and the size of crystals were tending to decrease.

Fabrication of Electrochemical Sensor with Tunable Electrode Distance

  • We present an air bridge type electrode system with tunable electrode distance for detecting electroactive biomolecules. It is known that the narrower gap between electrode fingers, the higher sensitivity in IDA (interdigitated array) electrode. In previous researches on IDA electrode, narrower patterning required much precise and expensive equipment as the gap goes down to nanometer scale. In this paper, an improved method is suggested to replace nano gap pattering with downsizing electrode distance and showed that the patterning can be replaced by thickness control using metal deposition methods, such as electroplating or metal sputtering. The air bridge type electrode was completed by the following procedures: gold patterning for lower electrode, copper electroplating, gold deposition for upper electrode, photoresist patterning for gold film support, and copper etching for space formation. The thickness of copper electroplating is the distance between upper and lower electrodes. Because the growth rate of electroplating is $0.5{\mu}m\;min^{-1}$, the distance is tunable up to hundreds of nanometers. Completed electrodes on the same wafer had $5{\mu}m$ electrode distance. The gaps between fingers are 10, 20, 30, and $40{\mu}m$ and the widths of fingers are 10, 20, 30, 40, and $50{\mu}m$. The air bridge type electrode system showed better sensitivity than planar electrode.

선도체 대 평면전극 갭에서 평면전극에 연소화염 존재시 대기의 절연파괴 특성 (Breakdown Characteristics of Air in the Gap between Line Conductor and Plane Electrode in Case of Combustion Flame on the Plane Electrode)

  • Breakdown characteristics of air in the vertical arrangement of line conductor and plane electrode in case of combustion flame on the plane electrode are examined by the application of AC. and DC voltages to the gap. In order to investigate the effect of paraffin flame on the breakdown characteristics of air, flashover voltages are measured according to the variation of the gap length and the horizontal distance between the flame and the line conductor. As the result of the experiment, flashover voltages are substantially lowered down to 29.8% in case of the AC voltage, and 16.1% in case of the negative DC voltage, when in the presence of the flame. from 100% when in the absence of flame. Flashover voltages of air in the range of smaller than 3㎝ at the horizontal distance are increased in the proportion of the gap length and the horizontal distance in case of both AC and negative DC voltages. But before the flashover occurs, the flame is extinguished by such corona wind that is produced from the line conductor when the gap length and the horizontal distance reach to a certain degree. The effect of relative air density and the phenomenon of thermal ionization are analysed as the reduction factors of flashover voltages, due to high temperature of the flame.

  • In this paper, result of whole test, When the Transfer Distance is increasing, Strength of Backfilling Material of NATM Composite lining Tunnel due to increasing Gravity was increased, but that is higher the Air Flotation than increasing Strength. So, That was predicted a drop of Permeability. And Performing the placing Lightweight Foamed Mortar, we think that it's performance in drain material was lost. Therefore We conclude that Proper Transfer Distance that taking Permeability through minimizing of Air Flotation Loss and getting the Need Strength is 50m.
