Air spring system was widely accepted for railway vehicle secondary suspension to reduce and absorb the vibration and noise. The low natural frequency ensures a comfortable ride and an invariably good stiffness. In this paper, the characteristics and durability test was conducted in laboratory by using servo-hydraulic fatigue testing system to reliability evaluation of air spring for electric railway vehicle. The experimental results show that the characteristics and durability of domestically developed productions are shown in good results. And to guarantee the adaption of air spring, the ride comfort and air pressure variation were measured in train test on subway line.

This study was performed to design the optimal block type expansion valve through analyzing the characteristics of the block type expansion valve in automotive air conditioning system using HFC-134a. Because an alternative refrigerant (HFC-l34a) is being used instead of CFC-12 for automotive air conditioning system, newly designed air conditioning components are necessary due to changes in characteristics. The performance tests were accomplished through the test bench, that is manufactured based on the study. And then it was carried out to measure the variation of temperature and pressure at each part of the air conditioning system according to the compressor speed.
The purpose of this study is to predict the pressure drop due to the installation of venturi under diverse operating conditions such as dust concentration, pulse interval and pressure, and filtration velocity using algebraic-linear regression model and use it as an economic data and efficient operating condition for a pulse air jet bag filter. A pilot scale bag filter with a filter a filter size(Ø140 × 850ℓ, 12) was used, and the filters used in the experiment were the polyester filters most commonly used in real industrial sites. The SAS 9.4 program (SAS Institute, USA) was used to predict and to determine the effects of inlet concentration (Ci), pulse interval (Pi) and pressure (Pp), filtration velocity (Vf), presence or absence of venturi, etc. The results are shown below. The variation in pressure drop with or without venturi installation was 38.8 mmAq when venturi is installed and 47.6 mmAq when venturi is not installed, indicating a difference in pressure drop of 8.8 mmAq depending on venturi installation. It is estimated that the efficiency can be improved by about 18.5% if the venturi is installed.

This paper is to develop the program for sizing of a counter-flow cooling tower. Air flow, air exit tmperature, fan power are calculated from design coditions of cooling tower by using this program. The basic equations and solutions of the heat transfer and pressure drop of cooling tower are descrived and the algorithm development for design of cooling tower is performed. The variation of fan power of cooling tower in acoording to variation of cell area and fill height is performed by using this program. This result shows that the optimal design for install and running cost of cooling tower can be performed by using this program.

In a diesel engine the phenomenon of spray impaction on a combustion chamber wall has been taken as an undesirable matter because of the deposition of fuel on the surfaces, and the subsequent slow evaporation and mixing with air resulting in unburned hydrocarbons. Therefore many researches have concentrated on avoiding fuel impaction on surfaces. On the contrary done a number of studies using spray wall impactions in a positive way, which makes the droplets smaller, changes the direction into free spaces far from the wall and also improves mixing with air. In this paper the angle variations of the impaction land sufrace prepared for the injection spray is analysed as a simulative manner. The spray dispersions, vapor distributions and flow fields are compared with impacting angle variation. The results show more angle give more vapor distribution until $15^{\circ}$.
Variation of explosion characteristics by the blocks in closed vessel was investigated to analyse the effect of the block volume(volume blockage) and the surface area of the blocks(ratio of block surface area to vessel volume). Volume and surface area of blocks in explosion vessel were changed by the combination of blocks. The volume of explosion vessels was 270 liter, and the LPG-air or NG-air mixtures were ignited by the electric spark. Explosion pressure was measured with the strain type pressure transducer. From the experimental results, explosion pressure was decreased by the increase of the volume blockage and the block surface area. And the decrease of explosion pressure was more affected by the volume blockage than the surface area.

Low temperature atmospheric pressure plasmas (APPs) have been known to be effective for living cell inactivation in the water [1]. Many earlier research found that pH level of the solution was changed from neutral to acidic after plasma treatment. The importance of the effect of acidity of the solution for cell treatments has already been reported by many experiments. In addition, several studies have demonstrated that the addition of a small amount of oxygen to pure helium results in higher sterilization efficiency of APPs [2]. However, it is not clear yet which species are key factors for the cell treatment. To find key factors, we used GMoo simulation. We elucidate the processes through which pH level in the solution is changed from neutral to acidic after plasma exposure and key components with pH and air variation with using GMoo simulation. First, pH level in a liquid solution is changed by He+ and He(21S) radicals. Second, O3 density decreases as pH level in the solution decreases and air concentration decreases. It can be a method of removing O3 that cause chest pain and damage lung tissue when the density is very high. H2O2, HO2 and NO radicals are found to be key factors for cell inactivation in the solution with pH and air variation.

This study refers to temporal variation of physical properties of tilled soil under natural rainfalls. Field measurements of porosity, average hydraulic conductivity and average capillary pressure head on a tilled soil were conducted by soil sampler and air-entry permeameter respectively at regular intervals after tillage. Temporal variation of these physical properties were analysed by cumulative rainfall energy since tillage. Field experiment was conducted on a sandy loam soil at Suwon durging April~July in 1989. The followings are a summary of this study results ; 1. Average porosity just after tillage was 0.548cm$^3$/cm$^3$. As cumulative rainfall energy were increased in 0.1070, 0.1755, 0.3849 J/cm$^2$, average porosity were decreased in 0.506, 0.4]95, 0.468m$^3$/cm$^3$ respectively. 2. Average hydraulic conductivity just after tillage was 45.42cm/hr. As cumulative rainfall energy were increased in 0.1755, 0.2466, 0.2978, 0.3849J/cm$^2$ average hydraulic conductivity were decreased in 15.34, 13.47, 9.58, 8.65cm/hr respectively. 3. As average porosity were decreased in 0.548, 0.506, 0.495, 0.468cm$^3$/cm$^3$ average capillary pressure head were increased in 6.1, 6.7, 6.9, 7.4cm respectively. 4. It was found that temporal variation of porosity, average hydraulic conductivity on a tilled soil might be expressed as a function of cumulative rainfall energy and average capillary pressure head might be expressed as a function of porosity. 5. The results of this study may be helpful to predict infiltration into a tilled soil more accurately by considering Temporal variation of physical properties of soil.

The present study concerns the stern slamming load of container carriers, with stern bulb arrangement variation. First, a series of wedge drop tests were conducted using simple wedge models with fixed deadrise angles, and tests with the cross-section models of practical container carrier sterns were followed. The deadrise angle of the simple wedge ranged from 0° to 10°. The pressure measurement results of the simple wedge drop tests were distributed between empirical formula and analytic solution, so the experimental setup was validated. In the cases of practical hull cross-sections, the water entry of the bulb prior to that of the transom resulted in characteristic water film generation and delayed pressure peak appearance. The trapped air between the bulbs damped the pressure in the twin skeg hull case, reducing the pressure peak and causing the pressure oscillation during water entry.
The purpose of the present work is to develop a compressed air discharging system to eject a projectile from the underwater. For the flow analysis of compressed air tank, projectile ejection tube, and pipe system, the air is assumed as an ideal gas, undergoing 1-dimensional axisymmetric, compressible flow, the Fanno flow analysis was applied. The commercial Fluent code was used to solve 3-D Navier-Stokes equation of the internal flow within the valve. The dynamics of the projectile within the ejection tube was assumed 1-degree of freedom. The calculations were performed to four cases of valve opening area ratio, i.e., 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% opening area, at both depths of 10m and 50m. The results were shown as the figures of time variation of pressure of the compressed air tank and projectile ejection tube. The velocity and distance of the projectile were also predicted.
