A novel preparation and formation mechanism of carbon nanotubes aerogel

  • A novel, unique, and effective method for carbon nanotube (CNT) dispersion by the free arc stimulation is proposed. CNTs are introduced as an aerogel into the air space via the dispersion method and can be utilized as a solution by adding it to solvents. The volume of the original generated CNT aerogel with a high-volume expansion ratio displays a performance two orders of magnitudes better than that of raw CNTs, which is considered a powerful characterization of the dispersion effect. The CNT aerogel, which was observed by scanning electron microscopy also showed a satisfactory dispersion morphology. Its structure and properties were tested before and after dispersion by Raman spectroscopy and great consistency was observed, which proved that the CNTs were undamaged. This approach may greatly promote the large-scale application of CNTs.

  • A three-dimensional digital image processing technique is proposed to quantitatively predict the dispersion phenomena of oil droplet onto the surface of the water. This technique is able to get the dispersion rate of an oil droplet three-dimensionally just below the surface of the water over time. The obtained dispersion rate obtained through this technique is informative to the investigation into the relationship among the gravity, surface tensions between oil, water, and air. This technique is based upon the three-dimensional PIV(Particle Imaging Velocimetry) technique and its system mainly consists of a three CCD(Charge Coupled Device) cameras, an image grabber, and a host computer in which an image processing algorithm is adopted for the acquisition of dispersion rate oil an oil droplet.

중규모 국지순환에서 이산화황의 농도예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Prediction of SO2 Concentration in local Circulation of Mesoscale)

  • The Characteristics of atmospheric flow and dispersion of air pollutants in the mountainous coastal area were studied using two-dimensional model by the combination of land-sea breezes and transport. The pollutants emitted into the simulated wind field in considering with the mesoscale local circulations. The typical effects of land-sea breezes and tophography of coastal area on the dispersion are discussed in detail, and the model is proved as an useful tool to pridict real time pollutant transport by the results of application studies in Pusan, Korea where the urbanized coastal area with mountainous topography. It was found that sulfur dioxide ($SO_2$) are differently transported and concentrated as going inland by the influence of the sea breeze with topographic changes. Parameterization of Along-Wind Dispersion Coefficients based on Field and Wind Tunnel Data

  • Observations related to the along-wind dispersion of puffs were collected from 12 field sites and from a wind tunnel experiment and used to test simple similarity relations. Because most of the date made use of concentration time series observation from fixed monitors, the basic observation was t, the standard deviation of the concentration time series. This data also allowed the travel time, t, from the source to the receptor to be estimated, from which the puff advective speed ue, could be determined. The along-wind dispersion coefficient, x, was then assumed to equal tue. The data, which extended over four orders of magnitude, supported the similarity relations t=0.1 t and x=1.8 $u^*$t, where t is the travel time and $u^*$ is the friction velocity. About 50% of the observations were within a factor of two of the predictions based on the similarity relations.

가정용 가스보일러 열교환기 유형에 따른 압력분포특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Pressure Distribution for Heat Exchanger Types of Domestic Gas Boiler)

  • Heat transfer and pressure distribution for heat exchanger type of domestic gas boiler are different from shape, pitch, thickness of fin and array of pipe respectively. In order to measure the pressure distribution across the heat exchanger, a suction type wind tunnel was constructed and velocity distribution was measured for pilot tube(4 point) of rack type. The experiments were performed for 5 different air flow mass, rpm=3,6,9,12,15 and transverse axis of heat exchanger(x-length) is 5cm respectively. Results showed that above 9.5m/s, pressure distribution dispersion for wet type of heat exchanger is on the increase and above 5.5m/s, pressure distribution dispersion for dry type of heat exchanger is on the increase. Also, pressure distribution dispersion by comparing two different types heat exchanger, dry type of heat exchanger showed a higher augmentation than wet type of heat exchanger.

화산재 확산 예측결과의 삼차원 가시화 기법 (3D Visualization Techniques for Volcanic Ash Dispersion Prediction Results)

  • 대한민국은 화산재해로부터 안전한 지역으로 알려져 왔다. 그러나 최근의 관측 결과들은 한반도 최 북 단에 위치한 백두산이 더 이상 휴화산이 아님을 보여주고 있다. 백두산 화산이 폭발한다면 남한지역에서는 화산재에 의한 다양한 피해가 예상된다. 특히 공중의 화산재는 운항되는 비행기의 계기판 및 엔진을 마비시킴으로써 대형 항공사고를 유발할 수 있다. 따라서 화산재의 삼차원 확산을 예측하여 화산재가 있는 항로를 비행할 것으로 예상되는 비행기 운항을 중지시키는 것이 매우 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 화산재 확산 예측결과의 삼차원 가시화 기법을 다룬다. 우선 화산재 확산 예측 데이터의 취득에 대하여 소개한다. 확산 예측 데이터는 화산재 확산 시뮬레이션 프로그램인 Fall3D를 이용한다. 다음으로 세 가지 화산재 확산 예측결과의 가시화 기법을 제안한다. 첫 번째 기법은 '공중의 큐브' 방식으로 화산재의 입자 농도별로 다른 색을 가진 반투명 큐브를 공중에 배치하는 방식이다. 두 번째 기법은 '큐브안의 큐브'방식으로 '공중의 큐브' 방식을 개선하여 농도의 정도에 따라 큐브의 분할 정도를 달리하여 배치하는 방식이다. 마지막 방식은 '반투명 화산재 평면' 기법으로 화산재 농도를 가지고 있는 레이어 들을 적층하고 투명효과를 적용하는 방식이다. 본 논문에서 제시한 방법을 기반으로 사용자는 목적에 맞는 방식대로 화산재 확산 예측 결과를 삼차원 가시화 할 수 있을 것이다.

고속도로 환경영향평가를 위한 대기확산모델링 연구 (A Study of Air Dispersion Modeling in Highway Environmental Impact Assessment)

  • In order to choose proper dispersion model and emission factors suitable in Korea in evaluating the effect of pollutants emitted by the vehicles in highway on nearby area, various road dispersion models and vehicle emission factors were reviewed. With theoretical inter-comparisons of the exiting models for line source, CALINE 3 and CALINE 4 models which were suggested by US EPA were selected as the road dispersion models for further evaluation with the measurement. The emission factors suggested by Korean Ministry of Environment was turned out to be appropriate since the classification of vehicle kinds was simple and easy to apply in Korea. The comparisons of predicted concentrations by CALINE 3 and 4 models with the measurements in flat, fill and bridge road types showed that CO and PM-10 were in good agreements with experiments and the differences between CALINE 3 and 4 models are negligible. The model concentrations of $NO_2$ by CALINE 4 were also in good agreement with the measurement but those by CALINE 3 were over-predicted. The discrepancies in CALINE 3 model were due to rapid decay reaction of $NO_2$ near the highway, which was not included in CALINE 3 model. For the road type with one & two side cutting grounds, the similar patterns as the flat & fill road type for CO, PM10, & $NO_2$ were observed but the number of data for comparison in these cases were not enough to draw the conclusion. These results lead to the conclusion that CALINE4 model is proper in road environmental impact assessment near the highway in flat, fill and bridge road types.
