  • 가스상 물질만을 대상으로 하여도 대기 중에서 일어나는 화학반응은 20,000개를 넘고 관여하는 물질도 수천을 넘는다. 대기화학 반응이 대기질 모델링에 포함되기 시작한 이래 지난 20-30년간 이들 반응들의 특성을 보전하면서 모델링에서 취급이 가능한 형태로 축약하기 위한 노력이 계속되고 있다. 그러나 축약 자체가 불완전을 감수하면서 전체적인 효율을 추구하는 과정이기 때문에 관점에 따라 방법이 다를 수밖에 없고, 또한 실측 자료로써 메커니즘의 개발과 검증에 주로 이용되는 스모그 챔버 실험도 결국은 실제 대기 현상의 일부분을 대표한 것이기 때문에 메커니즘들은 각각 다른 특성을 지니게 되고 일정 부분 불완전함을 내포하고 있다.   • 현대 산업 사회의 급속한 발전으로 인해 대기 중에는 다양한 오염원을 통해서 많은 오염물질이 배출됨에 따라 이를 평가하고 방지할 대책이 필요하게 되었다. 이러한 대책 중의 하나로 배출원에서 배출되는 오염물질의 경로 및 발생량을 예측하는 방법이 있는데, 대기 상에 배출되는 오염물질의 농도를 예측할 경우 보통 대기 확산 모델링을 통하여 배출원 주변의 오염물질 확산 및 농도값을 산정한다. 현재 국내에서는 주로 가우시안 확산 모델인 ISC, CALPUFF 모델 등을 사용하여 모델링을 계산하게 된다. (중략)

Source-Receptor Relationships of Transboundary Air Pollutants in East Asia Region Simulated by On-Line Transport Model

  • Transboundary air pollution has recently become an area of increasing scientific interest and political concern as countries are receiving air pollutants from their neighbors. In order to gain a better understanding of the long-range transport processes of air pollutants and the source-receptor relationships among neighboring countries, an atmospheric transport model coupled with a RAMS(Regional Atmospheric Modeling System) model was applied to the East Asia region during the entire month of January 1993. The scalar transport option of the RAMS model was used to calculate special atmospheric constituents such as trace gases or aerosols. The sulfate production in clouds and rainwater and its removal processes by dry and wet deposition were considered. The sulfate budget from source regions to receptor regions was estimated by analysing the source-receptor relationships. When a specific receptor site revealed a sulfate value higher than the sulfate concentration based on its own source origin, this was taken to indicate long-range transport from another source region. The contribution ratio from various source region was calculated. The contribution ratio of dry and wet deposition was higher on the main continent of the East region. Furthermore, the high deposition amounts were identified on the west coast of Korea and the East China Sea.

  • Recent evidence has demonstrated that the pollutant recirculation can play an important role in leading to high ozone $(O_3)$ concentrations. In this study, the MM5-CAMx air quality modeling system was applied to simulate the pollutant recirculation and identify the transport of pollution during the high $O_3$ event (the maximum $O_3$ of 195 ppb) observed in the Greater Seoul Area (GSA) on $1{\sim}4$ June in 2004. The results showed a weak northeasterly synoptic wind during the night and early morning moved the air parcels containing the locally emitted urban pollution to the coast, which contributed to enhance $O_3$ formation in the southwest part of the GSA. As the sea breeze developed and started to penetrate inland in the late afternoon, the rapid build-up of $O_3$ concentration was found in the southwest coastal area due to the recirculation of the polluted air loaded with high level $O_3$. The simulated backward trajectories and observations at coastal sites confirmed the recirculation of pollutant with the late sea breeze is the dominant factor affecting the occurrence of high $O_3$ concentrations in the southwestern GSA.

  • A numerical study on PM using a dispersion and deposition model which can analyze for both quantify and quality would not only offer us to understand our environment more easily, but also make it easy that we can make a plan in order to prevent air pollution. The U.S. EPA has proposed the CALPUFF modeling system as a guideline model for regulatory applications involving long-range transport and on a case-by-case basis for near-field applications where. non- steady- state effects which consider situations such as spatial variability in the meteorological fields, calm winds, fumigations, re-circulation or stagnation, and terrain or coastal effects may be important.   • Air traffic increased 12% annually in Korea since 1988 after the Olympics, this rate is two times than the rate of the world average. In order to accommodate fast growing aviation demand, Incheon International Airport is operated at Yongjong Island since March, 2001. The Incheon airport project will continue till 2020. After the final phase in 2020, Incheon International Airport will handle 100 million passengers, 530,000 flights and 7 million tons of cargo annually. In this study, air pollution from aircraft and other sources are calculated and assessed in Incheon International Airport area by EDMS(Emission and Dispersion Modeling System), which is a combined emission and dispersion model for airport. EDMS could also be considered power plant, incinerator and aircraft support equipment such as ground support equipment, aerospace ground equipment, auxiliary power units. And EDMS is recommended as preferred model for air quality assessment of the airport area by U.S. EP A. The result of this study shows that NOx emission from aircraft and support utility is estimated as 27,000 - 35,000 ton/yr and Namdong-Gu area in Incheon city is affected as 30-60 ppb by the NOx emission from these sources in 2020, the final phase of Incheon international airport construction.

  • To investigate air quality away from the coastal urban source region, we used a hybrid Eulerian - Lagrangian method which can describe the formation, transport, transform and deposition processes in complex terrain, with inclusion of shipping sources that were considered to be important emission in the coastal urban region. The result of the Eulerian advection - diffusion prediction was quite similar to that of the Lagrangian particle diffusion prediction. It showed that pollutants emitted from Sasang and Janglim industrial complexes can affect Hwamyeong and the coastal, respectively. During the daytime the concentration was low due to large deposition flux and terrain effect.

  • Many computer programs have been developed for meteorological and air quality simulation. Many of the model the U.S. EPA recommends are available as. part of UNAMAP. HIWAY-II can be used to estimate the concentrations of nonreactive pollutants from highway traffic. As a result, It was found that distribution of concentration wind speed was 1 m/s to 5 m/s were diminished to about 1/2. In our study, we measured air pollutants(CO), temperature and humidity to evaluate. Meteorological parameter were influenced by not only wind direction but also vertical.
