ANALYSIS OF IN-CYLINDER FUEL-AIR MIXTURE DISTRIBUTION IN A HEAVY DUTY CNG ENGINE

  • Distribution of fuel-air mixture has a strong influence on performance and emissions of a compressed natural gas (CNG) engine. In this paper, parametric study is performed by KIVA-3V to investigate fuel-air mixture with respect to injection timing, cycle equivalence ratio and engine speed. With open-valve injection intensive mixing during intake and compression stroke results in relatively homogeneous mixture in the cylinder. Sequential induction of fuel-air mixture and fresh air results in stratification in the cylinder among the test cases at closed-valve injection. There is close similarity in the calculated distributions of the mixture in the cylinder with different cycle equivalence ratios and engine speeds. The results are compared against pressure traces and flame images obtained in a single cylinder engine converted from a 11L six-cylinder heavy duty diesel engine.

  • The characteristics of combustion and flow for a lean premixed flame in lab-scale gas turbine combustor was studied through experiment and numerical analysis. From the experiment, flame structure and heat release rate were obtained from OH emission spectroscopy. Qualitative comparisons were made line-integrated OH chemiluminescence image and abel-transformed one. NOx analyzer was implemented to get the characteristic of NOx exhaust from the combustor. From the numerical analysis, the thermal distribution and characteristic of recirculation zone with the change of fuel-air mixing degree, the characteristic of methane distribution with equivalence ratio in the combustor respectively. Total heat release rate is increased with increasing equivalence ratio. Thermal Nox is reduced with increasing fuel-air mixing degree. Increasing equivalence ratio results in the decrease of the size of reaction zone and alteration of the position of the reaction zone into the entrance of the combustor.

셀룰로오즈 섬유 함유 콘크리트의 작업 성능 및 강도 평가 (Evaluation of Workability and Strength in Concrete with Cellulose Fibers)

  • 콘크리트는 초기에 인장강도가 확보되지 못하므로 건조수축과 같은 재료적인 균열이 발생하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 셀룰로오즈 섬유를 0.0 ~ 2.0% 혼입한 콘크리트를 대상으로 공기량, 슬럼프와 같은 작업성을 평가하였으며, 재령에 따른 압축 및 인장강도를 평가하였다. 혼입률이 증가할수록 1.0kg/㎥ 수준에서는 공기량 및 슬럼프에서 저하를 확인할 수 없었으며, 이러한 작업성은 2시간까지 유효하게 작용하였다. 강도 평가에서는 혼입률이 증가할수록 인장 및 압축강도가 개선되었으며, 압축강도의 경우 7 ~ 9%수준으로, 인장강도에서는 7 ~ 22% 수준으로 증가하였다. 인장강도에서 증가율이 상대적으로 크게 평가되었는데, 이러한 효과는 균열저항성에 크게 도움을 주리라 판단된다. 본 연구를 통하여 2분간의 혼입 시간, 셀룰로오즈 섬유 1.0kg/㎥의 혼입률 수준이면 120분간 작업성에 큰 영향이 없으리라 평가된다.

  • A micro cyclone combustor was developed to be used as a heat source of thermoelectric power generator (TPG). The cyclone combustor was designed so that fuel and air were supplied to the combustion chamber separately. The mixing and flow characteristics in the combustor were investigated numerically. The global equivalence ratio (${\Phi}$), defined using the fuel and air flow rates, was introduced to examine the flow features of the combustor. The mixing of fuel and air inside the combustor could be well understood using the fuel concentration distribution. It was found that the weak recirculating zone was formed upper the fuel-supplying tube in case of ${\Phi}$ < 1.0. In addition, it was found that small regions that have a negative axial velocity exist near the fuel injection ports. It is assumed that these negative axial velocity regions can stabilize a flame inside the micro cyclone combustor.

  • ATR 엔진 연소기 내부에서의 연료와 공기의 혼합성능은 연소 안정성이나 효율에 지배적인 요인이 된다. 본 연구에서는 ATR 모델 연소기에서의 혼합성능을 비교하기 위하여 두 유체의 속도 비$(r=v_a/v_f)$를 변화시키면서 연료분포를 측정하였다. 측정 방법으로는 2차원 연료분포를 얻기 위하여 널리 이용되는 평면레이저 유도형광기법과 화상처리 기법을 사용하여 연료분포 이미지를 얻었다. 측정된 연료분포 화상으로부터 공기속도/연료속도 비가 1에 가까울수록 연료 혼합성능이 떨어지는 특성을 관찰하였다.

  • This study was to operate a fitting production specific of concrete product for proper mixing discovery. Testing method was to operate slump, air content, compressive strength test. The standard was water-cement ratio 50% and weight substitution 0%, 10%, 20% by Fly-ash and using Silica-fume and HPMC(Hydroxy propyl methyl cellulos) by additive. The result of this study showed when add Fly-ash to Silica-Fume is better than HPMC.

  • 공기유입속도가 $217l{\cdot}m^{-3}{\cdot}min^{-1}$이었을 경우, 고온 호기조를 이용하여 PAC로 응집, 탈수된 조류의 분해 특성을 관찰한 결과 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다. 10% 폐 식용유의 혼합조건이 본 연구에서 최적 조건으로 온도는 $55^{\circ}C$ 이상을 나타내었고, 수분은 55%를 일정하게 유지하였으며, $CO_2$의 농도는 최고 3.7%, 투입 탄소량의 92%가 $CO_2$-C로 변환하였다. 적정한 폐식용유의 혼합은 미생물의 활동을 활발하게 하였지만 과도한 혼합은 수분 증발로 건조상태로 되었으며 오히려 분해 활성에 저해 영향을 주었다. 처리가 종료된 담체는 고농도의 알루미늄이 축적되어 있으므로 별도의 처리가 요구된다.

  • An ejector is a fluid machinery to be utilized for mixing fluids, maintaining vacuum, and transporting them. The Ejector is applied for a variety of industrial fields such as refrigerators and power plants. It is adopted to recycle anode off gas safely in 5kW Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell system of KEPRI(Korea Electric Power Research Institute). The ejector is placed at mixing point between the anode off gas and the cathode off gas or the fresh air. In this study, the entrainment ratio is measured according to the diametrical ratio of nozzle to throat. In addition, the performance curve of the ejector and the differential pressure in diffuser is observed.

  • Development of cumulus is studied by numerically integrating the equation of motion equations of conservation for water vapor mixing ratio, and the thermodynamic energy equuation. We use the terrain-following coordinate system called z'-coordinate system, in which we can easily treat any calculation domain with terrain configuration such as mountains. The model domain of calculation is restricted vertically to 4.Skin and horizontally to 100 km, has a bell-type mountain in the centeral part. Four cases are considered, one in a neutral environment, second in a slightly stable environment, third in a environment decreasing water content with low value of initial water vapor mixing ratio, the fourth in a case with higher vapor gradient. The more the atmosphere is unstable, the more cumulus develops easily and the more water vapors is abundant, the more cumulus develops easily too. More detailed cloud microphysics parameterizations and wet deposition must be conridered to use in air pollutants prediction model.
