  • This paper presents the experimental study on the design conditions of pressure between booster ejector and air ejector in the steam-jet water-vapour refrigeration system. In this experiment, the motive steam of booster ejector and ai. ejector was dry saturated from 6 ata to 8 ata and flash chamber pressure were about $10\∼540mmHg$ higher than mixing section in booster ejector. The investigation of air on the pressure of booster ejector was performed by changing the condenser pressure. The experimental results show that flash chamber vacuum and condenser pressure of steam-jet refrigeration cycle increased in accordance with the increase of motive steam Pressure. Among the several nozzle sires tested, No.4 nozzle were best in term of evaporator vacuum under the constant operating conditions of air ejector in condenser.

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the oxygen transfer characteristics of an ejector aeration system. In order to evaluate the oxygen transfer performance of the ejector aeration system, a comparative experiment was conducted on a conventional blower aeration system. The effect of entrained air flow rate and aerating water temperature on the oxygen transfer efficiency was investigated. The dissolved oxygen concentration increased with increasing entrained air flow rate, but decreased with increasing aerating water temperature for two aeration systems. The volumetric mass transfer coefficient increased with increasing entrained air flow rate and with increasing aerating water temperature for both aeration systems. The average mass transfer coefficient for the ejector aeration system was about 20% and 42% higher than that of the blower aeration system within the experimental range of entrained air flow rates and aerating water temperatures.

  • The ejector system is used for making a vacuum in an enclosed tank. This research represents the method to improve ejector performance by inserting a strut at the center of ejector outlet. This proposed ejector system is so simple and have a low cost to improve the ejector performance. There are many kinds of method for obtaining a lower vacuum pressure. The ejector is consists of nozzle, straight pipe and outlet diffuser and we focused on the outlet diffuser for high ejector performance. The strut is located at the center of ejector outlet diffuser. As the experimental result, we compared the vacuum pressure with and without a strut and without strut, and the ejector performance showed an improvement with 40% or more than the case without strut. This means that the stable fluid low energy loss was obtained by inserting the strut.

  • In a fuel cell vehicle using polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell(PEMFC), hydrogen is over-supplied to gain higher stack efficiency. So it is needed considering fuel efficiency to re-circulate hydrogen which is not reacted in stack. And to re-circulate hydrogen, a blower or an ejector is used. Ejector re-circulation system has several merits compared with blower system, for example no parasite energy, simple structure and no lubrication system. But the secondary flow of an ejector in fuel cell vehicle, has high humidity because of crossover problem in stack. Therefore in this paper, ejector is designed by 1-D modeling and CFD with the primary and secondary flow of hydrogen. And the ejector which has the primary and secondary flow of air, is designed to have the same Reynolds number and Mach number at the nozzle exit as the hydrogen ejector's. And this air ejector is tested while the humidity of the secondary flow is varied.

  • In this paper, the Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion(OTEC) with vapor-vapor ejector is proposed newly. At this OTEC system, a vapor-vapor ejector is installed at inlet of condenser. The vapor-vapor ejector plays a very important role in increasing of the production work of low-stage turbine throughout the decrement of outlet pressure of ejector. The performance analysis is conducted for optimizing the system with HYSYS program. The procedure of performance analysis consists of outlet pressure of high turbine, the mass ratio of working fluid at separator, total working fluid rate, and nozzle diameters of vapor-vapor ejector. The main results is summarized as follows. The nozzle diameter is most important thing in this study. When each nozzle diameter of vapor-vapor ejector is 10 mm, the efficiency of OTEC system with vapor-vapor ejector shows the highest value. So it is necessary to set the optimized nozzle diameters of vapor-vapor ejector for achieving the high efficiency OTEC power system.

  • As an effort to prevent environmental problems caused by ozone depletion and global warming, alternative refrigerants are being developed, and one of the candidates is carbon dioxide. To overcome slightly low efficiency of $CO_2$ refrigeration system, air-conditioning cycle using an ejector was suggested. Ejector compensates throttling loss in an expansion device by reducing compression work. In this study, the ejector refrigeration cycle using $CO_2$ as a refrigerant is investigated to understand the effect of the mixing section diameter and refrigerant charge amount on the performance. If mixing section diameter is too large or too small, either cases show low performance. The optimum refrigerant charge amount which gives the best performance is found for standard operating conditions. The air-conditioning cycle was analyzed for several operating conditions.

  • Recently, many researchers have analyzed the performance of the transcritical $CO_2$ refrigeration cycle in order to identify opportunities to improve the system energy efficiency. The reduction of the expansion process losses is one of the key issues to improve the efficiency of the transcritical $CO_2$ refrigeration cycle. In this study, the analytical study on the performance characteristics of $CO_2$ cycle with an ejector carried out with a variation of outdoor temperature, gascooler inlet air velocity, evaporator inlet air velocity, and evaporator inlet air temperature. As a result, the system performance could be improved over 85% by using an ejector for various operating condition because of the reduction of compressor work. Moreover, the cooling capacity increased about 18% for variable outdoor condition. Therefore, the high performance of an ejector system could be maintained for wide operating conditions and system reliability could be improved compared to that of a basic system.

  • In this paper, suitable working fluid of 1MW Organic Rankine Cycle(ORC) with liquid-vapor ejector using effluent from power plant is selected. The results of comparison performance of 5 refrigerants are as follows; R600a, R134a, R1270, R236fa, R235fa. The operating parameters considered in this study include the condensation capacity evaporation capacity and efficiency. As a result of comparison of basic ORC system and with liquid-vapor ejector, with ORC system presents the higher system efficiency since the ejector makes the turbine outlet pressure lower than condensation pressure through its pressure recovery. Also, this ejector ORC system is advantageous in miniaturizing the size of components owing to decrease of evaporation capacity and condensation capacity.

  • A water driven ejector loop was designed and constructed for air absorption. The used ejector was horizontally installed in the loop and annular water jet at the throat entrained air through the circular pipe placed at the center of the ejector. Wide range of water flow rate was provided using two kinds of pumps in the loop. The tested range of water flow rate was 100${\ell}$ /min to 1,000 ${\ell}$/min. Two-phase flow inside the ejector loop was simulated by CFD analysis. Homogeneous particle model was used for void fraction prediction. Water and air flow rates and pressure drop through the ejector were automatically recorded by using the LabView based data acquisition system. Flow characteristics and air bubble velocity field downstream of the ejector were investigated by two-phase flow visualization and PIV measurement based on bubble shadow images. Overall performance of the two-phase ejector predicted by the CFD simulation agrees well with that of the experiment.

  • An experimental investigation or the sonic and supersonic air ejector systems has beer conducted to develop design and prediction programs for practical ejector system. Five different primary nozzles have been employed to operate the ejector systems in the ranges of low and moderate operating pressure ratios. The ejector operating pressure ratio for the secondary chamber pressure to be minimized has a strong influence of the ejector throat ratio. The pressure inside the ejector diffuser is not dependent on the primary nozzle configurations employed but only a function of the ejector operating pressure ratio. Experimental results show that a supersonic ejector system is more desirable for obtaining high vacuum pressure of the secondary chamber than a sonic ejector system.
