  • A header' is the device that makes uniform flow distribution in all branches from header of heat exchangers, pipe burner or chemical equipments. In this study, experimental tests have been performed in order to investigate the flow distribution characteristics in a straight header and tapered header which have 6 and 11 glass pipe branches. The experimental equipment consists of a water circulation system where the fluid velocity in each glass pipe is measured by Ar-ion LDV system. From the experiments and the theoretical equation, it could be recommended that tapered header should be determined so that its internal velocities inside the header become uniform according to taper of the header and number of attached branches for uniform flow distribution in energy systems.

  • 본 연구에서는 국내 돔경기장을 해석대상공간으로 선정하여 기존 공조방식과 국외 돔경기장에서 사용한 공조방식을 적용하여 겨울철 실내기류 및 온도분포를 분석하고, 열고온층을 해소하기 위한 방안으로 설치된 기류유인팬의 적절성을 검토하였다.

  • In Korea, it is the law that an apartment building which consists of over 100 households must have a ventilation system installed, either natural or mechanical. The heat recovery ventilator (HRV) is great way to reduce energy consumption. In this research we confirmed that based on site's construction plan and existing diffuser form, performed purpose CFD which simulates operation in temperatures below $-5^{\circ}C$ to circumstances of installation of an HRV in an apartment. As a result of this research we found that when the diffuser's aperture area was adjusted, the distribution of air temperature and residence time of air was more equally distributed and air temperature was higher, compared to when the diffuser has an identical aperture area. We also found that we are able to increase even more air temperature and air distribution of air temperature and residence time of air was even more equally distributed when run in parallel with a splitter damper.

  • In this study, the computer code for the optimal design of road tunnel ventilation system based on one-dimensional analysis of the air flow was developed. The control volume method was used to calculate the air velocities and the concentration distribution of pollutants(CO, NOx, Particulate) for various tunnel ventilation system. This code was validated by comparing the calculation results to the practical design data for the road tunnel ventilation system. The calculation results were in accord with the practical design data.

  • The heat generation is the most important problem in the motor integrated spindle. Double cooling jacket in necessary to reduce the thermal displacement and to get the stable temperature disribution for the housing. In this study, the effects of temperature distribution and thermal displacement for the spindle system according to the variation of cooling oil flow rate are investigated experimentally on the motor-integrated spindle with double cooling jacket system. The experimental spindel system is composed with the angular contact steel ball bearings, oil-air lubrication, air or oil jacket cooling system.

  • Before occupation of an apartment housing, the builders are required to inform the test result of IAQ to the public. However, there is no simplified method to predict IAQ before measurement of pollutant concentration. In this study, a simplified way of predicting IAQ based on the distribution of indoor pollutant concentration is proposed. 7 different cases of air change rate have been simulated through CFD analysis to get the distribution ratio of each pollutant material and then simplified functions were used with CRIAQ1 values derived from CFD simulation to evaluate by comparing the influence of each material in the indoor pollutant concentration. Again, a lot of efforts which can improve the indoor air quality have been performed. Materials used in indoor space are labeled with their pollutant emission level. Installation of ventilation system in residential buildings will be regulated by a building codes sooner or later. But it is important to understand the fact that layout of walls, location or size of openings will influence the indoor air flow and pollutant concentration. And location of emitting material influences to indoor air pollutants distribution. But until now there is few recognition and consideration of these factors. Therefore, in this paper the effects of these factors is proved and some kind of guideline is made for designers after a comparison of typical apartment floor plan and a new type plan with their average pollutant concentration and its distribution of each room. CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) program was used to show the indoor air flow and pollutant concentration distribution. For this purpose, a typical $100m^2$ apartment floor plan was chosen as a case study model and several alternatives were reviewed to improve the IAQ performance. The simulation took place in the condition of natural ventilation through windows.

  • In order for the international aviation community to efficiently and safely manage the gradual increase of air passenger demand, direction suggestions of airport traffic prediction based on future airport capacity requirements, airport design and infrastructure establishment is utilized by airport traffic data that is m comparable internationally. It is a global trend to pursue more efficient airport operating system structure to accept air passenger demand through more realistic comparable data in order to escape from the structure of reckless airport establishment and infrastructure composition based on passenger demand predictions referring to simple statistical data that has existed in the past. This study aimed to seek effective operational measures for the New Jeju airport scheduled to be opened in 2025 by time-series analysis. This study also analysed airport operation strategies, air traffic distribution strategies, cargo volume increase rates and its effectiveness of airports adopting the multi-airport system that have similar operational practices and geographical conditions. This study sought the most appropriate multi airport system application measures for New Jeju airport to promote efficiency and international competitiveness.

에어로졸 중화기의 성능이 고하전 입자의 크기분포 측정에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Performance of Aerosol Charge Neutralizers on the Measurement of Highly Charged Particles Using a SMPS)

  • A SMPS(scanning mobility particle sizer) system measures the number size distribution of particles using electrical mobility detection technique. An aerosol charge neutralizer, which is a component of the SMPS, is a bipolar charger using a radioactive source to apply an equilibrium charge distribution to aerosols of unknown charge distribution. However, the performance of aerosol charge neutralizers is not well known, especially for highly charged particles. In this study, the effect of the particle charging characteristics of two aerosol charge neutralizers on the measurement using a SMPS system was experimentally investigated for highly charged polydisperse particles. One has radioactive source of $^{85}$ Kr (beta source, 2 mCi) and the other has $^{210}$ Po (alpha source, 0.5 mCi). The air flow rate passing through each aerosol charge neutralizer was changed from 0.3 to 3.0 L/min. The results show that the non-equilibrium character in particle charge distribution appears as the air flow rate increases although the particle number concentration is relatively low in the range of 1.5∼2x10$^{6}$ particles/㎤. The low neutralizing efficiency of the $^{85}$ Kr aerosol charge neutralizer for highly charged particles can cause to bring an artifact in the measurement using a SMPS system. However, the performance of the $^{210}$ Po aerosol charge neutralizer is insensitive to the air flow rate.

SCR 시스템 내 암모니아 분사 균일도 개선을 위한 AIG 설계에 관한 해석적 연구 (Computational Study on Design of the AIG for the Enhancement of Ammonia Injection in the SCR System)

  • 선택적 촉매환원(selective catalytic reduction, SCR) 시스템에서 사용되는 환원제의 효용성을 극대화하기 위해 적용되는 암모니아주입관(ammonia injection gun, AIG) 성능은 유량의 분배, 공기분배다기관(air distribution manifold, ADM)의 배치 그리고 노즐의 배열 및 형상 등에 의해 영향을 받는다. 본 연구에서는 전산유체역학(computational fluid dynamics, CFD) 기법을 이용하여 AIG 성능의 지표가 되는 토출 유량 균일도를 통계적인 수치로 표현하여 관련된 설계인자들과 SCR 시스템의 성능 사이의 상관관계를 평가하고자 하였다. 관내 유동에서 일어나는 유체역학적인 현상의 영향으로 AIG에 대한 공급유량이 증가할 때 각 노즐에서의 토출 유량의 균일도는 감소하는 해석결과를 얻었으며 헤더로부터 가까울수록 분지관으로의 유량분배율이 낮아짐과 동시에 헤더에 가까운 노즐일수록 토출유량이 적어지는 현상을 파악하였다. 각 분지관에 대해 유입 면적대비 노즐의 총 면적비가 0.5 미만일 때 토출 유량의 균일도와 분지관의 유량분배가 매우 균일해지는 것으로 파악되었다.
