보조동력용 마이크로터빈 엔진에 대한 과도성능 해석 (Investigation of Transient Performance of An Auxiliary Power Unit Microturbine Engine)

  • 압축기의 써지 현상을 관찰하는 가장 쉬운 방법의 하나로는 부분품의 성능특성도상에 정적 그리고 동적 운용 특성을 나타내는 것이 될 수 있다. 이 경우 엔진의 작동범위가 써지 범위에 의하여 제한될 것이고 따라서 엔진은 엔진의 정적 또는 과도 성능의 전 과정에 걸쳐 일정한 써지 한계를 갖도록 요구되고 있다. 로터의 극관성 모멘트, 닥트 내 공기/가스의 용적 그리고 열전달 효과 등은 엔진의 작동이 정적 특성으로부터 일탈하게 되는 주요 요소들이다. 시스템 내에서 열교환기가 존재하는 경우처럼 큰 용적의 경우 그것은 동적 작동 특성에 상당한 영향을 주게 될 것인데 본 논문에서는 보조동력기관으로 사용되는 마이크로터빈의 예를 들어 엔진의 과도성능 특성에 압축기의 출구에서 추출되는 냉각공기가 미치는 영향을 조사코자 하였다. 질량 및 일 그리고 회전수 일치 법칙에 근거하여 터빈을 흐르는 가스 유량, 압력비, 회전 속도, 동력 그리고 모멘트가 계산되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 제어시스템 설계를 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 이러한 과도 성능을 계산하기 위한 프로그램을 개발을 위해서 상업용 MathCAD 소프트웨어를 사용하였다.

  • A core engine for pre-cooled turbojet engines is designed and its component performances are examined both by CFD analyses and experiments. The engine is designed for a flight demonstration of precooled turbojet engine cycle. The engine uses gas hydrogen as fuel. The external boundary including measurement devices is set within $23cm{\times}23cm$ of rectangular cross section, in order to install the engine downstream of the air intake. The rotation speed is 80000 rpm at design point. Mixed flow compressor is selected to attain high pressure ratio and small diameter by single stage. Reverse type main combustor is selected to reduce the engine diameter and the rotating shaft length. The temperature at main combustor is determined by the temperature limit of non-cooled turbine. High loading turbine is designed to attain high pressure ratio by single stage. The firing test of the core engine is conducted using components of small pre-cooled turbojet engine. Gas hydrogen is injected into the main burner and hot gas is generated to drive the turbine. Air flow rate of the compressor can be modulated by a variable geometry exhaust nozzle, which is connected downstream of the core engine. As a result, 75% rotation speed is attained without hazardous vibration and heat damage. Aerodynamic performances of both compressor and turbine are obtained and evaluated independently.

A Dynamic Model of a Gas Engine-Driven Heat Pump in Cooling Mode for Real-Time Simulation

  • The present study has been conducted to simulate dynamics of a gas engine-driven heat pump (GHP) for the design of control algorithm. The dynamic model of a GHP was based on conservation laws of mass and energy. For the control of refrigerant pressures, actuators such as an engine throttle valve, outdoor fans, coolant three-way valves and liquid injection valves were controlled by P or PI algorithm. The simulation results were found to be realistic enough to be applied for the control algorithm design. The model could be applied to build a virtual real-time GHP system so that it interfaces with a real controller for the purpose of developing control algorithm.

  • HI-WORTH T-32, a non-powered plasma cutter, is a portable cutter that utilizes compressor-plasma inverter. With a special air-pressure piston, the cutter is semiautomatic. When they were produced by die casting dies, the bodies or housings of the cutter have defects about 100 percent of defect rate due to blisters and thermal deformation. Therefore, they are produced by mechanical machining, which leads to a hike in material and machining costs and to the loss of productivity. And companies are left with insignificant profit margins. Besides mechanical machining, this study proposes to modify defective mold and cut down defective rate and boost productivity.

  • Internal and external defects of an inner pulley for automobile air conditioner are investigated in this study. Inner pulley is a part of compressor clutch assembly of automobile air conditioner. In cold forging of inner pulley, the design requirement are to keep the same height of the inner rib and outer one and to make uniform distribution of hardness in the forged product. At the end of the forging of inner pulley, the piping defect as an external defect begins to form at the back center of the billet. The internal crack as an internal defect also occur at the adiabatic shear band which usually has maximum ductile fracture value. It is important to predict when the internal and external defects occur during the deformation process, in order to minimize the amount of discard that is generated. The finite element simulations are applied to analyze the defects. The validity of the computational results are examined by experiments. These computational results are in good agreement with the experimental ones.

Helium Recondensing System Utilizing Cascade Roebuck Refrigerators

  • This paper describes a design of the helium-recondensing system utilizing cascade Roebuck refrigerators. Superconducting generator or motor has the superconducting field wind-ing in its rotor that should be continuously cooled by cryogen. Since liquid helium transfer from the stationary system to the rotor is problematic, cumbersome, and inefficient, the novel concept of a rotating helium-recondensing system is contrived. The vaporized cold helium inside the rotor is isothermally compressed by centrifugal force and expanded sequentially in cascade refrigerators until the helium is recondensed at 4.2 K. There is no helium coupling between the rotor and the stationary liquid helium storage. Thermodynamic analysis of the cascade refrigeration system is performed to determine the key design parameters. The loss mechanisms are explained to identify entropy generation that degrades the performance of the system.

사이클론 방식 유분리기의 출구 튜브 설계 (Design of the Outlet-Port Tube of a Cyclone-Type Oil Separator for a Compressor)

  • A series of numerical simulations have been carried out to study the performances of cyclone-type oil separators, which are designed for refrigeration-system compressors. The corresponding working fluid is R22, which is a typical refrigerant, whereby a mineral-oil droplet is supplied (Ed-highlight-My interpretation). The outlet-tube length in relation to the total chamber volume is considered a design parameter. Depending on the tube length, the separation efficiency varies from 98.7% to 99.3%, while the predicted pressure drop is between 5.1 kPa and 6.4 kPa. Considering both the pressure drop and separation efficiency, the length of the outlet-port tube of the separator is 152 mm.

Unified design approach for single- and 3-phase input air conditioning systems using SiC devices

  • This paper examines the approach, enabled by using SiC power devices, to unify the inverter design for central air conditioning (CAC) system for both single- and 3-phase input, and reduce the PFC inductor size to be PCB-mountable. By using SiC-instead of Si-diode in PFC stage, it is possible to increase the switching frequency from 16kHz to 60kHz to reduce the required PFC inductance from 0.93mH to 0.25mH, thus enable PCB-mounting of inductor. With the next step of using 1200V SiC MOSFET instead of Si-IGBT, the DC link voltage can be boosted from 311Vdc to 550Vdc in PFC stage, allowing the inverter and compressor used in 3-phase input CAC be used for single-phase input as well. Furthermore, using SiC MOSFET in inverter stage can further reduce total loss system total loss to 200.8 W. Simulation and experimental results are presented in the paper.

드라이쿨러를 적용한 외기냉수냉방 시스템 설계에 관한 연구 (A study on design for free cooling system using dry cooler)

  • 외기냉수냉방 시스템은 공조나 산업공정에 사용되는 냉수를 저온의 외기를 이용하여 냉각하는 시스템으로 에너지를 절감하기위해 사용되며, 냉각시스템과 외기와 냉수가 열교환을 하는 드라이쿨러로 구성되어있다. 외기냉수냉방 시스템은 지속적인 냉방이 필요한 곳에 에너지절감효과가 뛰어나나 국내의 경우, 외기냉수냉방 시스템에 설계 기준과 자료가 미비하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 상용프로그램 HYSYS를 이용하여, 드라이쿨러를 이용한 외기냉수냉방 시스템의 요소변화에 따른 성능을 비교 분석했으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 드라이쿨러의 냉각능력은 외기온도, 요구냉수온도, 열교환기의 LMTD (Logarithmic Mean Temperature Difference, 대수평균온도차)에 따라 변한다. 드라이쿨러는 외기온도가 낮을 수록 그 냉각능력이 증가하며, LMTD가 낮은 드라이쿨러가 LMTD가 높은 것에 비하여 고온의 외기온도에서 사용이 가능하였다. 외기온도가 극히 낮은 지역에서는 글리콜이 함유된 부동액을 사용해야하며 국내의 외기온도를 고려하였을 때, 글리콜농도 34%의 부동액이 적절한 것으로 판단된다. 냉동기에 적용될 작동유체의 경우, R22, R134a, R407C의 압축일을 비교했으며, R134a가 환경관련 규제와 에너지 사용측면에서 우수한 냉매로 사료된다.

  • A V belt pulley is widely used in automotive industry. More than tow pulleys in one automobile are used, such items as crankshaft, water pump, air-con compressor and power steering pump. Although the shape and usage of pulleys are very simple, the design evaluation of a pulley design is difficult because the load conditions and the installation environment are complicated. So, we formulated the design evaluation for the V belt pulley by using CAE system, which enables to develop a design automation system. By using this system, an engineer can evaluate a pulley design easily without any painstaking effort, such as consideration of the complicated loads and CAE activities. Also the system helps to accumulate the design experience of a company, which guides the optimum design based on experience.
