산지에서의 환경보전형 농업을 위한 토양의 질 평가 -모니터링 시스템의 구축과 기초자료의 수집- (Soil quality Assessment for Environmentally Sound Agriculture in the Mountainous Soils - Installation of Monitoring System and Background Data Collection -)

  • This study was initiated to build runoff plots, install soil and water quality monitoring systems and collect background data from the plots and neighboring soils as the 1st year study of a 5 year project to assess soil quality and develop the management practices for environmentally sound agriculture in mountainous soils. Eleven $3{\times}15m$ runoff plots and monitoring systems were installed at a field of National Alpine Agricultural Experiment Station to monitor soil quality and discharge of nonpoint source pollutants. Corn and potato were cultivated under different fertilizer, tillage and residue cover treatments. The soil has a single-layered cluster structure that has a relatively good hydrologic properties and can adsorb a large amount of nutrient. Concentrations of T-N, $NH_4$-N, and $NO_3$-N of surface soil sampled in the winter were relatively high. Runoff quality in the winter and thawing season in the spring was largely dependent on surface freezing, snow accumulation, temperature, surface thawing depth and so on. Runoff during the thawing season caused serious soil erosion but runoff quality during the winter was relatively good. Serious wind erosion from unprotected fields after the fall harvest were obserbed and best management practices to reduce the erosion need to be developed.

A Genome-wide Scan for Selective Sweeps in Racing Horses

  • Using next-generation sequencing, we conducted a genome-wide scan of selective sweeps associated with selection toward genetic improvement in Thoroughbreds. We investigated potential phenotypic consequence of putative candidate loci by candidate gene association mapping for the finishing time in 240 Thoroughbred horses. We found a significant association with the trait for Ral GApase alpha 2 (RALGAP2) that regulates a variety of cellular processes of signal trafficking. Neighboring genes around RALGAP2 included insulinoma-associated 1 (INSM1), pallid (PLDN), and Ras and Rab interactor 2 (RIN2) genes have similar roles in signal trafficking, suggesting that a co-evolving gene cluster located on the chromosome 22 is under strong artificial selection in racehorses.

농가부부의 의사결정 구조 분석 (A Study of Decision-Making Structure of Rural Couples)

  • The purposes of this study were to explore decision-making patterns of rural couples and to clarify the differences between socio-demographic variables related to the patterns. The data were gathered from 1,870 rural households through interviews with structured questionnaire in the 187 rural communities sampled by multi-staged cluster stratified sampling method in November 2005. A total of 1,106 farm households including householder and spouse participated in the interview. The results of this study were as follows: First, in general, mainly householder made decision-making in the areas of dealing with real estate and selling farm products, while spouse decided in the areas of choosing television channel and deciding living expenses. Second, there were no significant differences of patterns by age, education and income level. Third, decision-making patterns were significantly different by sex and family type. According to the results of the study, in farm household, 'pattern of mainly householder or husband decision-making' was high yet as regarding agricultural decision making. Therefore, researchers suggested that educational program could be helpful for rural couples to participate in practicing gender equity decision- making.

Distribution of ground beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) in Naejangsan National Park, Korea

  • This study was conducted to investigate the distributional characteristics of ground beetles and to provide basis information for biodiversity management including the ground beetles in the Naejangsan National Park area. Pitfall traps were installed throughout 20 sites within Naejangsan National Park during 2008 to 2011 to collect ground beetles. A total of 2,409 collected ground beetles were identified with 35 species belonging to 19 genera of 8 subfamilies. Coptolabrus jankowskii jankowskii, Eucarabus sternbergi sternbergi, and Pterosticus audax were dominant at the core area, while Pheropsophus jessoensis, Synuchus nitidus, Synuchus cycloderus, and Chlaenius naeviger were dominant at the border of the National Park and adjacent to the road or grassland. These differences of dominant species also affected to the similarity of species composition between core and border area, and caused increasing dissimilarities between sites with cluster analysis. Although the result of the present study was a case study using ground beetles, it will be helpful to develop a management strategy of biodiversity conservation in Naejangsan National Park and its surroundings.

펫푸드(반려동물 식품) 선택속성에 대한 소비자 특성 분석 (Consumer Characteristics in Terms of Pet Food Selection Attributes)

  • This study aims to examine consumer types based on pet food selection attributes and to analyze the differences in consumer characteristics by those types. In this study, the researcher uses k-means cluster analysis and crossover analysis to determine market segmention, and then analyzes the resultant characteristics by categorizing consumers. A total of 202 cases are used for this study. First, the selection attributes are classified into the six factors of credibility, quality, design, convenience, information, and price. Second, the clusters are categorized into the four clusters, which are designated pet food lower-involvement type, pet food information- and price-seeking type, pet food convenience-seeking type, and pet food higher-involvement type. Third, these four groups exhibit statistically significant differences in terms of occupational variables, number of pets, and purchase frequency. The results of this study may provide helpful information in establishing customized, market-based marketing strategies based on the characteristics of pet food consumers.

  • In this study, an indicator and assessment system for evaluating the monthly hydrological cycle was prepared using simple factors such as the landuse status of the watershed and topographic characteristics to the dynamic water balance model (DWBM) based on the Budyko framework. The parameters a1 of DWBM are introduced as hydrologic cycle indicators. An indicator estimation regression model was developed using watershed characteristics data for the introduced indicator, and an assessment system was prepared through K-means cluster analysis. The hydrological cycle assessment system developed in this study can assess the hydrological cycle with simple data such as land use, CN, and watershed slope, so it can quickly assess changes in hydrological cycle factors in the past and present. Because of this advantage is expected that the developed assessment system can predict changes in the hydrological cycle and use an auxiliary tool for policymaking.

도시와 농촌의 재유형화와 주거이동 결정요인 분석 (An Empirical Analysis on the Determinants of Residential Mobility and Reclassifying Urban and Rural Areas)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors affecting residential mobility between urban and rural. After classifying urban and rural region based on discriminatory attributes of the regions, we applied a multinomial logistic model, using the sample data of 2020 Korea Population and Housing Census. The major findings are as follows. The young highly educated in cities avoided rural. The young less educated in rural engaged in 2, 3th industries as well as agricultural industry, but remained in low-paying and unstable jobs. In addition, various classes moved to rural and rising house prices in cities pushed people to rural. Therefore, it is necessary to develop diversified regional industry models and provide opportunities for high quality and stable jobs in rural by linking industrial demand, education and jobs. Also, preserving the rural environment, settlement conditions and residential environment are needed for satisfying various needs of urban residents who migrate to rural areas. While regional policies so far have focused on maintaining the population size and promoting a population influx, rural development and population policies should be established in a way that responds to diverse population classes in an era of population decline.

저장 배에서 분리한 Penicillium속의 배양적 특성과 RAPD에 의한 유연관계 분석 (Analysis of Genetic Relationship and Cultural Characteristics of Penicillium species Isolated from Postharvest Decay of Pear by Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA)

  • 저장배에서 분리한 15그룹 3종을 KCTC, KCCM, 충남대에서 분양받은 16균주를 대상으로 상호 유연관계를 분석하고자 배양적 특성을 관찰하고 RAPD 검정에 의한 진단 가능성을 검토하였다. 병원균의 배양특성을 조사한 결과 배지상 생육형태, 색, 속도 등에 있어서 균주간 차이를 보였으며 배양적 특성과 RAPD에 의한 유연관계 분석 결과를 비교 분석하기 위하여 배에서 분리한 15개 균주와 16개 표준 균주의 종간 다형성을 관찰하였다. RAPD을 이용하여 유전적 다양성을 분석하기 위하여 5개의 URP primer를 이용하여 genomic DNA를 증폭시킨 결과 $0.1{\sim}2.0kb$ 크기의 총 744개 band들이 증폭되었다. cluster 분석결과 전체 유사도는 47.7%로 31 균주들은 4개의 genomic DNA RAPD 집단으로 분류되었다. 배에서 분리한 P. expansum 균주간에는 87.4% 이상의 상동성을 보였고, P. solitum 균주간에는 97.5%, P. crustosum 균주 간에는 95.1% 이상의 상동성을 보였다. 배에서 분리된 동일한 종내에서는 배양적 특성에 의한 동정결과와 RAPD에 의한 분석결과와 일치하였다.

GAP 인증 수삼의 표적시장 연구 (Studies on Target Market of GAP Certified Raw-Ginseng)

  • GAP 인증제도 도입초기의 시기적 필요성을 반영하여 GAP 인증 수삼이 어떤 소비자를 대상으로 어떠한 방향의 마케팅전략을 수행해야하는지에 대한 방향성 제시를 위해 수삼 선택속성별 부분가치를 산출하였으며 GAP 인증 수삼의 시장예상점유율 시뮬레이션, 시장세분화(segmentation), 표적시장선정(targeting), 표적시장 소비자 특성 등에 대한 일련의 연구를 수행하였다. 수삼 선택의 주요 속성인 안전성, 크기, 가격에 대한 부분가치효용을 분석해 본 결과 일반 수삼보다는 GAP 수삼을 선호하였으며(1.373), 크기에 있어서는 큰 수삼을 선호하였고(1.014), 가격대는 낮은 것을 선호하였다. 또한 각 속성에 대한 상대적 중요도에서는 안전성이 47.2%, 크기가 35.0%, 가격이 17.8%의 중요도를 나타냈다. GAP 인증 수삼의 가상 상황에서의 시장점유율 시뮬레이션에서는 GAP 인증 수삼이 일반수삼과 비교하여 같은 크기에 가격이 다소 높거나, 같은 가격에 크기가 작은 경우에 도 소비자의 선택확률이 높은 것으로 분석되었다. 소비자 선호특성을 기반으로 군집분석을 통하여 수삼시장을 세분화한 결과, '큰 수삼 선호시장', '안전성 선호시장', '저가격 선호시장' 셋으로 나눌 수 있으며, 표적시장(target market)인 '안전성 선호시장'의 규모는 전체 수삼시장의 26.8%인 약 2,968톤으로 추정되었다. 또한 표적시장 소비자의 구매 특성을 살펴본 결과, 구입과 관련해서는 상대적으로 대형 마트에서의 수삼구매를 선호하는 것으로 나타났으며 포장지에 안전성이나 연근에 대한 정보를 표기하기를 원하고 있었다. 가격 및 재배년근과 관련해서는 750g 한 채당 자가 소비용은 2~3만원, 선물용은 5~6만원대를 상대적으로 선호하는 것으로 나타났으며 재배년근의 경우에는 4년근 선호비율이 타 군집(세분시장)보다 상대적으로 높게 나타나GAP 인증 수삼은 굳이 고년근으로 재배할 필요는 없을것으로 생각된다. 표적시장 소비자의 인구통계학적 특성을 살펴보면 여성비율이 상대적으로 높았으며 연령대는 40대 이하가 많았고 학력과 관련해서는 군집 간 유의성 있는 차이는 보이지 않았다.

Differences in isolates of Tomato yellow leaf curl virus in tomato fields located in Daejeon and Chungcheongnam-do between 2017 and 2018

  • To follow up on a 2017 survey of tomato virus diseases, samples with virus-like symptoms were collected from the same areas (Buyeo-gun, Chungchungnam-Do and Daejeon, Korea) in 2018. While in 2017 mixed infections of Tomato mosaic virus with either Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) or Tomato chlorosis virus were detected, only TYLCV was detected in symptomatic samples in 2018. TYLCV amplicons of c.777 bp representing the coat protein (CP) coding region were cloned from the TYLCV positive samples, and the sequence data showed a 97.17% to 98.84% nucleotide and 98.45% to 99.22% amino acid identity with the 2017 Buyeo-gun isolate (MG787542), which had the highest amino acid (aa) sequence identity of up to 99.2% with four 2018 Buyeo-gun sequences (MK521830, MK521833, MK521834, and MK521835). The lowest aa sequence identity of 98.45% was found in a 2018 Daejeon isolate (MK521836); the distance between Buyeo-gun and Daejeon is about 45 km. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that the currently reported CP sequences are most closely related to Korean sequences from Masan (HM130912), Goseong (JN680149), Busan (GQ141873), Boseong (GU325634), and the 2017 isolate TYLCV-N (MG787543) in the 'Japan' cluster of TYLCV isolates and distinct from the 'China' cluster isolates from Nonsan (GU325632), Jeonju (HM130913) and Jeju (GU325633, HM130914). Our survey data from 2017 and 2018 suggest that TYLCV has become established in Korea and may be spread by whitefly vectors from weed reservoirs within the farm environment.
