Epoxy resin insulator have good electrical properties (high electric strength, high resistivity, low dielectric loss) in addition to high mechanical strength, small dimensions and design versatility. Polymer insulator, however, are subjected to aging processes, caused by the surrounding atmosphere, which may lead to degradation of their properties. This paper describes the results of a important study on the artificial pollution test, Weather-Ometer properties and rotating wheel dip test of high voltage different aging insulators which are the most important factors for outdoor uses. Also, the objects of this paper are to (a)result of insulator under dry(wet) flashover voltage, (b)artificial pollution test of salt spay, (c)Accelerated aging test of Weather-Ometer, (d) wet and dry flashover voltage under rotating wheel dip test.
Mechanical properties of rubber material are very important in design procedure to assure the safety and reliability of the rubber components. In this paper, the material test and accelerated heat aging test were carried out. In order to investigate the effects of heat-aging on the material properties, hardness, elongation, stress-strain curves and dynamic characteristics were obtained from various test conditions. Also, rubber material coefficients were determined by both the uniaxical and equi-biaxial tensile tests.

This study is to investigate the relationship between microstructural factors and tensile properties after aging heat treatment of the 15-5PH stainless steel at the temperature range of $450^{\circ}C$, $500^{\circ}C$ and $550^{\circ}C$ for various time. For the aging time of 2 hours, hardness showed maximum at $450^{\circ}C$ and then decreased with increasing aging temperature. While, hardness decreased gradually during aging $450^{\circ}C$, $500^{\circ}C$ and $550^{\circ}C$ from 1 hour to 5 hours but the hardness nearly unchanged until the 100 hours after 5 hours aging. When aging at $450^{\circ}C$, Cu atoms preferentially aggregated at the prior austenite grain boundaries and martensite lath boundaries, and Cu concentration at those boundaries was nearly unchanged even after aging for 100 hours. Therefore it was suggested that the coherency is still maintained after 100 hours aging at $450^{\circ}C$. Aging at $500^{\circ}C$ and $550^{\circ}C$ results in an increase in the concentration of Ni at the martensite lath boundaries and prior austenite grain boundaries, resulting in the formation of reversed austenite. Especially, when aged at $550^{\circ}C$ for 100 hours, the concentration of Ni remarkably increased at those boundaries, and thus the microstructure of herring bone shape was appeared. Considering the migration of Ni atom to the lath boundaries and prior austenite grain boundaries, Ni atoms contributed greatly to the formation of reversed austenite. On the other hand, it was found that Cu atoms hardly moving to those boundaries may not be contributed to the formation of reversed austenite. When aging at $450^{\circ}C$, the coarsening of the precipitated Cu atoms proceeded very slowly with increasing aging time, therefore the decrease in strengths were small but the reduction area was considerably increased due to the softening of the matrix. At the aging temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ and $550^{\circ}C$, the strengths decreased and the elongation and reduction area increased due to the appearance of the reversed austenite. Especially, the increase of reduction area was remarkable.
The thermal aging effects on mechanical properties and microstructures in China low-activation martensitic steel have been tested by aging at $550^{\circ}C$ for 2,000 hours, 4,000 hours, and 10,000 hours. The microstructure was analyzed by scanning and transmission electron microscopy. The results showed that the grain size and martensitic lath increased by about $4{\mu}m$ and $0.3{\mu}m$, respectively, after thermal exposure at $550^{\circ}C$ for 10,000 hours. MX type particles such as TaC precipitated on the matrix and Laves-phase was found on the martensitic lath boundary and grain boundary on aged specimens. The mechanical properties were investigated with tensile and Charpy impact tests. Tensile properties were not seriously affected by aging. Neither yield strength nor ultimate tensile strength changed significantly. However, the ductile-brittle transition temperature of China low-activation martensitic steel increased by $46^{\circ}C$ after aging for 10,000 hours due to precipitation and grain coarsening.

In the aerospace field, Carbon/Cork composites have been used for rocket propulsion systems as a light weight structural component with a high bending stiffness and high thermal insulation properties. For the fabrication of a carbon composite with a heat insulation cork part, the bonding properties between them are very important to determine the service life of the Carbon/Cork composite structure. In this study, the changes in the interfacial adhesion and mechanical properties of Carbon/Cork composites under accelerated aging conditions were investigated. The accelerated aging experiments were performed with different temperatures and humidity conditions. The properties of the aged Carbon/Cork composites were evaluated mainly with the interfacial strength. Finally, the lifetime prediction of the Carbon/Cork composites was performed with the long-term property data under accelerated conditions.

Cast stainless steel (CSS) is thermally aged by a long term exposure in the range of nuclear power plant operating temperature. The thermal aging is a cause of concern for the continued safe and reliable operation of CSS nuclear components. Therefore, an assessment of degradation in material properties of these components has been importantly considered. In this study the ball indentation tests were performed on four cast stainless steels aged at $400^{\circ}C$ for 3600 hours, to investigate the applicability of ball indentation test to the assessment of aging degradation of cast stainless steels. Thus, the reliability of ball indentation test for aged CSS was analyzed by evaluating the scattering of data tested from each material and by comparing tensile properties obtained from ball indentation test and standard tensile test. Also, the tensile properties of aged CSS obtained from ball indentation test were compared with those predicted by the evaluation procedure developed on the basis of material database for aged CSS.
In this research, silicone rubber with additions of inorganic filler, alumina trihydrate$(Al(OH)_3\;:\;ATH)$, was aged acceleratedly and cyclically by the salt-fog and heating. The optimum amount of ATH addition to silicone rubber have been investigated by measurements of leakage current in the change of electrical properties and tensile strength, %elongation in mechanical properties and FT-IR, TG, SEM in the change of the chemical properties. With regard to un-aged silicone rubber, as the ATH addition amount increases, conductive path formation time was shortened in the electrical properties and tensile strength was increased, %elongation was decreased. In case of identical ATH addition amount, as cyclic aging increases, surface resistivity, tensile strength and %elongation were decreased. Considering the cyclic aging, the most effective amount of ATH addition was about 90phr.
Based on the actual operating environment of transformer, the aging tests of nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) were conducted systematically under four conditions: in air, in transform oil, under compression in air and under compression in transform oil to studythe effect of high temperature, transform oil and compression stress simultaneously on the thermal aging behaviors of nitrile butadiene rubber and predict the lifetime. The effects of liquid media and compression stress simultaneously on the thermal aging behaviors of nitrile butadiene rubber were studied by using characterization methods such as IR spectrosc-opy, thermogravimetric measurements, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) measurements and mechanical property measurements. The changes in physical properties during the aging process were analyzed and compared. Different aging conditions yielded materials with different properties. Aging at $70^{\circ}C$ under compression stress in oil, the change in elongation at break was lower than that aging in oil, but larger than that aging under compression in air. The compression set or elongation at break as evaluation indexes, 50% as critical value, the lifetime of NBR at $25^{\circ}C$ was predicted and compared. When aging under compression in oil, the prediction lifetime was lower than in air and under compression in air, and in oil. It was clear that when predicting the service lifetime of NBR in oil sealing application, compression and media liquid should be involved simultaneously. Under compression in oil, compression set as the evaluation index, the prediction lifetime of NBR was shorter than that of elongation at break as the evaluation index. For the life prediction of NBR, we should take into account of the performance trends of NBR under actual operating conditions to select the appropriate evaluation index.
Currently, peroxide cure is a widely used cure system for rubber materials. To improve its effectivity, co-agents are used to enhance the peroxide efficiency and mechanical properties of rubber materials. Co-agents are multifunctional organic compounds that are highly reactive towards free radicals. These co-agents provide higher cross-link densities for a given peroxide concentration and improve the mechanical properties of peroxide-cured rubber composites. In this study, trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate (TMPTMA) and high vinyl 1,2-polybutadiene (HVPBD) were used as co-agents. In order to obtain a concentration that achieves a favorable balance between mechanical properties and co-agent concentration, this research investigated the effects of co-agent content on the curing characteristics, chemical structures, and mechanical properties of HNBR composites. Additionally, the heat aging properties and compression sets of HNBR composites were investigated. Based on the results, we found that the HNBR composites with TMPTMA co-agents exhibited higher Shore A hardness and 10% modulus and better heat aging resistance and compression set than that of the HVPBD co-agent. The heat aging resistance and compression set deteriorated with increasing HVPBD content.

In order to improve the reliability of XLPE cables, it is necessary to find the useful diagnostic parameter according to long term aging. This paper described the change of partial discharge(PD) phase Properties of XLPE cable insulation with branch type electrical tree degradation. for long term aging. To understand the PD Properties with $\phi$ -q-n distributed shape of XLPE insulation, specimens were prepared by 22.9㎸ distribution cable and made in a type of block(16${\times}$16${\times}$3[mm]). Ogura needles having tip radius of l0${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were inserted into each block pieces. The measuring system was consisted of PD detector, digitizer for digital conversion, VXI system for signal processing. The PD properties of the specimens were measured from initiation of tree to breakdown and their characteristics were analyzed. We analyzed the relationship between electrical properties(PD Quantity, PD initiation angle, PD extinction angle, PD occurrence angle : (PD extinction angle - PD initiation angle)) and the normalized aging rate. We found PD parameter, PD initiation angle and occurrence angle, which are a useful diagnostic parameter in estimating the branch type electrical tree for XLPE insulation condition.
