Agent-Based Modeling for Studying the Impact of Capacity Mechanisms on Generation Expansion in Liberalized Electricity Market

  • This paper presents an approach to solve the long-term generation expansion planning problem of the restructured electricity industry using an agent-based environment. The proposed model simulates the generation investment decisions taken by a particular agent (i.e. a generating company) in a market environment taking into account its competitors’ strategic investment. The investment decision of a particular company is modeled taking into account that such company has imperfect foresight on the future system development hence electricity prices. The delay in the construction of new plants is also explicitly modeled, in order to compute accurately the yearly revenues of each agent. On top of a conventional energy market, several capacity incentive mechanisms including capacity payment and capacity market are simulated, so as to assess their impact on the investment promotion for generation expansion. Results provide insight on the investment cycles as well as dynamic system behavior of long-term generation expansion planning in a competitive electricity industry.

  • Agent-mediated electronic markets have been a grow-ing area of agent research and developmen tin recent year. There exist a lot of e-commerce sites on the In-ternet(e.g. Priceline, com, Amazon, com etc). These e-commerce site have proposed new business models for effective and efficient commerce activity. Intelli-gent agents have been studied very widely in the field of artificial intelligence, For purpose of this paper, an agent can act autonomously and collaboratively in a network environment on behalf of its users. It is hard for people to effectively and efficiently monitor, buy, and sell at multiple e-commerce sites. If we intro-duce agent technologies into e-commerce systems, we can expect to further enhance the intelligence of their support. In this paper, we propose a new coopera-tion mechanism among seller agents based on exchang-ing their goods in our agent-mediated electronic market system. G-Commerce. On G-Commerce, seller agents and buyer agents negotiate with each other. In our model, seller agents cooperatively negotiate in order to effectively sell goods in stock. Buyer agents coopera-tively form coalitions in order to buy goods based an discount proices. Seller agent's negotiation goods. Our current experiments show that exchanging mechanism enables seller agents to effectively sell goods in stock. Also, we present the Pareto optimality of our exchang-ing mechanism.

  • 전자상거래의 성장에 따라 고객의 특성을 파악하고 고객의 기호에 맞는 정보를 제공하여 구매력에 영향을 주고 동시에 웹사이트 운영자의 정보선별과 관련된 의사결정을 지원하는 시스템도구들이 개발되고 있다. 그러나 이런 시스템도구들은 웹운영기업에 경제적 부담을 주고 컴포넌트화 되어 있지 않아서 원하는 데이터를 수집하기보다는 수집된 데이터에 기업들의 요구정보를 맞춰야 하는 어려움이 있다. 이러한 점을 감안하여 본 연구는 기업의 필요정보에 대한 맞춤형 웹에이전트 시스템의 설계로 도구기반 로그분석을 대신할 수 있는 시스템개발을 연구목적으로 설정하였다. 본 연구에서 개발된 웹에이전트는 설계언어로 Java와 ASP를 이용하였으며 데이터 저장방식은 쿠키를 이용하는 방식으로 구현되었고 장기적 보존 데이터를 위해서 My-SQL의 데이터베이스와 연동될 수 있도록 개발되었다. 본 연구에서 개발된 시스템은 데이터마이닝개념을 이용하여 도구에 분석데이터를 전달시키기보다는 적극적으로 웹사이트의 컴포넌트형 에이전트로 데이터를 가공하도록 하였고 따라서 고객 개인화 인터페이스 설계 뿐 아니라 의사결정과 전문가 시스템의 성격을 지닌 정보제공방식을 마련할 수 있다는 점에서 기여도가 있다고 본다.

차량 동역학을 이용한 멀티에이전트 기반 교통시뮬레이션 개발 I : 교통 환경 개발 (Multi-Agent for Traffic Simulation with Vehicle Dynamic Model I : Development of Traffic Environment)

  • The validity of simulation has been well-established for decades in areas such as computer and communication system. Recently, the technique has become entrenched in specific areas such as transportation and traffic forecasting. Several methods have been proposed for investigating complex traffic flows. However, the dynamics of vehicles and their driver's characteristics, even though it is known that they are important factors for any traffic flow analysis, have never been considered sufficiently. In this paper, the traffic simulation using a multi-agent approach with considering vehicle dynamics is proposed. The multi-agent system is constructed with the traffic environment and the agents of vehicle and driver. The traffic environment consists of multi-lane roads, nodes, virtual lanes, and signals. To ensure the fast calculation, the agents are performed on the based of the rules to regulate their behaviors. The communication frameworks are proposed for the agents to share the information of vehicles' velocity and position. The model of a driver agent which controls a vehicle agent is described in the companion paper. The vehicle model contains the nonlinear subcomponents of engine, torque converter, automatic transmission, and wheels. The simulation has proceeded for an interrupted and uninterrupted flow model. The result has shown that the driver agent performs human-like behavior ranging from slow and careful to fast and aggressive driving behavior, and that the change of the traffic state is closely related with the distance and the signal delay between intersections. The system developed shows the effectiveness and the practical usefulness of the traffic simulation.

온라인 추천 서비스를 위한 감성 기반 웹 에이전트 개발 (Development of Human Sensibility Based Web Agent for On-line Recommendation Service)

  • In recent years, with the advent of e-Commerce the need for personalized services and one-to-one marketing has been emphasized. To be successful in increasingly competitive Internet marketplace, it is essential to capture customer loyalty. In this paper, we provide an intelligent agent approach to incorporate human sensibility into an one-to-one recommendation service in cyber shopping mall. Our system exploits human sensibility ergonomics and on-line preference matching technologies to tailor to the customer the suggestion of goods and the description of store catalog. Customizing the system`s behavior requires the parallel execution of several tasks during the interaction (e. g., identifying the customer`s emotional preference and dynamically generating the pages of the store catalog). The recommendation agent system composed of five modules including specialized agents carries on these tasks. By presenting goods that are consistent with user interests as well as user sensibility, the accuracy and satisfaction of the recommendation service may be improved.

  • 유비쿼터스 시대가 시작되면서 유비쿼터스 환경을 어떻게 제시할 것인지와 어떤 서비스와 이용 방법을 사용자에게 제공할 것인지가 중요해지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 모바일 환경에서 지능형 멀티 에이전트를 통해 사용자에게 도움되는 정보를 능동적으로 제공할 수 있는 시스템을 제안한다. 프로파일 모듀르 규칙 생성 모듈, 필터링 모듈, 서비스 모듈 구조로 구성된다. 추천 에이전트를 이용하여 미리 등록한 사용자의 정보를 기반으로 지능적인 사용자의 요구 파악을 가능하게 구성하였다. 이것을 응용하여 구현하고 실험을 통해 확인하였다.

  • We describe a scheme for developing character-based interface within the context of an agent-based tutoring system in the Web environment. The ideas in this paper stem from original work representing aspects of human emotion in tutoring computer models, where may provide mote natural ways for students to communicate with digital learning materials. The proposed system model is a set of software services that enable developers to incorporate interactive animated characters into their Web pages designed for on-line lectures. The prototypical application is developed and shown for validating the applicability and the effectiveness of this model in real tutoring settings.

  • 멀티 에이전트 시스템은 공통의 목표를 위해 함께 일하기로 합의한 협업 에이전트로 구성된다. 에이전트 시스템에서 메시지를 스케줄링 할 때, 동일한 우선순위가 역할의 중요도를 고려하지 않고 모든 에이전트에게 동일하게 할당된다면 성능은 극대화되지 않을 것이다. 본 논문에서 우리는 새로운 메시지 기반 우선순위 스케줄링 기법을 제안한다. 그것은 에이전트 시스템으로 하여금 에이전트와 메시지 작업 처리량의 중요도에 기반으로 메시지의 우선순위를 적절하게 모델링함으로써 환경 변화에 신속히 적응할 수 있게 한다. 에이전트 시스템의 성능은 저자들에 의해 개발된 에이전트 플랫폼을 통해 실행된 범죄 예방 시스템에 대한 사례 연구를 이용한 제안된 계획에 의해 상당히 개선된 것으로 보여준다.

국제적 공급사슬 관리를 위한 웹기반 에이전트모형 설계 (A Design of Web-based Agent Model for Global Supply Chain Management)

  • We proposed a conceptual design of the web-based agent model for global supply chain management(GSCM), where agents representing autonomous operational units, such as suppliers, factories, distribution center and customers, cooperate and are coordinated through the information exchange. The agent model assumed the hierarchical federated system. In the federated system, the agents of the same region are grouped and linked to the region-specific facilitator only through which communication between agents is allowed. The facilitator is responsible for monitoring and controlling the conversations consisting of the message flows across the agents. A web-based user presentation was also designed so that human users could involve in collaborative settings into the GSCM multi-agent system. In the conversation protocols which allow for complex coordinated behavior among agents, the KQML was extended to represent the messages. A GSCM scenario where the supply chain is formed upon customer order and supply decision is made was used to demonstrate the dynamics of the conversation protocols.
