  • A successful, computer-aided design support system can help a process designer focus on making effective design decisions, not merely tedious routine calculations. Such a system is essential to enhance quality of design in terms of economics, environmental benignity, reliability, robustness, and operability. Such a statement is even more accepted when applied to conceptual design problems, where gross design specifications are given while a combinatorial number of design alternatives exists. This paper presents an agent-based approach as a systematic and efficient way to design a design support system for the synthesis of conceptual chemical processes. An agent-based approach allows us to handle design knowledge as an object and thus greatly improve the modularity and reusability of that knowledge. Such modularity and reusability lead to the increased productivity in the development of a design support system and the increased ease in the relaxation of design decisions and the generation of design alternatives, both of which functions are critically important in dealing with the complexity and uncertainty of conceptual design problems.

  • When fresh concrete is exposed to low temperature, the concrete may suffer from the frost damage at early ages and the strength development may be delayed. To solve such problems of cold weather concreting, admixtures called agent for enduring cold climate are developed to prevent the fresh concrete from being frozen at early ages In this study, the experiments are carried out on several kinds of agent for enduring cold climate to present their performance. According to experimental results, most kinds of agent for enduring cold climate show the satisfactory properties of decreasing the freezing point and acceleating the cement hydration in low temperature environment, which is available for placing concrete in spite of cold weather.

  • A pump design system was constructed by several integrating in-house programs and commercial softwares to design and evaluate centrifugal pumps. An agent-based prototype framework has been developed for collaborative design and optimization of a centrifugal pump. This paper introduces the feasible technology needed to construct a pump design system based on software agents. The integrated design system, developed in the present study, was used in designing a centrifugal pump and modifying its impeller shape by using optimization processes to increase the pump performance.

  • The polyepichlorohydrine(poly(ECH)) was prepared by the condensation polymerization of epichlorohydrine. The cationic agent was prepared from poly(ECH) by amination of poly(ECH) with dimethyleneamine. Pretreatment of cellulosic fabric with the poly(ECH)amine produced a modified fabrics that could be dyed under neutral condition with reactive dye using small amount of the salt. Colour yield of cellulosic fabric were increased by increasing salt concentraction. cationic agent concentration. The optimum condition for colour yield was the concentration of cationic agent 5%(o.w.f), that of NaCl 4g/l, and that of $Na_{2}CO_{3}$5g/l. The dyeing of treated fabrics exhibits improved colour yield and high wash fastness.

  • Influence of silane coupling agent, bis-(3-(triethoxisilyl)-propyl)-tetrassulfide, on cure characteristics and bound rubber content of filled styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) compounds and on physical properties of the vulcanizates was studied. Carbon black-filled and silica-filled compounds were compared. Content of the bound rubber increased with increased content of the silane coupling agent and this trend was shown more clearly in the silica-filled compounds. Optimum cure time of the carbon black-filled compound increased with increase of the silane content, while that of the silica-filled one decreased. Cure rate of the carbon black-filled compound became slower as the silane content increased while that of the silica-filled one became faster. By increasing the silane content, the minimum torque decreased and the delta torque increased. Physical properties of the silica-filled vulcanizate were found to be improved by adding the silane coupling agent. However, for the carbon black-filled vulcanizates, the tensile strength and tear resistance decreased with increase of the silane content. The differences between the carbon black-filled and silica-filled compounds were explained by difference in the reactivities of the fillers with the silane.

  • The objective of this study is to develop the Non-compacting concrete with mormal strength in practice by using viscosity agent and flyash. In this paper, we present the reference data about not only the properties of Non-compacting concrete at fresh state such as flowability, segregation-resistibility, placebility and so on but, optimum mixing design using viscosity agent and flyash. The test results indicate that optimum dosage of viscosity agent in combination of flyash in 50% of W/C is about 400g/$\textrm{m}^3$ with 20% of the ratio of flyash replacement.

  • Because buildings which apply color that is various to concrete recently are introduced, value as design element of building is rising gradually in townscape. Even if expense is increased according as importance of concrete that have variety of design because do such social background and connection is emphasized, development of color concrete is pressing. Therefore, in this research, examined concrete physical & chemical characteristics by use of acid agent as part of research to embody diverse surface color of cement material. Here, embodiment of various color by unique color that stained hydrate has as that Color Concrete forms stained oxide that react with hydrate within concrete spreading stained agent that contain acid and metallic-ion in matrix that have cement ingredient on the surface is available.

  • The changes of internet environment have made services through web application server (WAS) popular. Accordingly, technical difficulties in identifying users who access databases through WAS were incurred. In order to solve these problems, many companies adopt an agent-based approach for identifying users by installing additional software on WAS. However, this approach must submit to some disadvantages in terms of cost, maintenance, and development process. In this paper, we devise an non-agent based approach for identifying database users in 3-tier environments.

  • Sharing power data between electrical power grids is crucial in energy management. The multi-agent approach has been applied in various applications to improve the development of complex systems by making them both independent and collaborative. The smart grid is one of the most intricate systems that requires a higher level of independence, reliability, protection, and adaptability to user requests. In this paper, a multi-agent system is utilized to share knowledge and tackle challenges in smart grids. The shared information is used to make decisions that aid in power distribution management within the grid and with other networks. The proposed multi-agent mechanism improves the reliability of the power system by providing the necessary information at critical times. The results indicate that the multi-agent system operates efficiently and promptly, making it a highly promising candidate for smart grid management.

  • The knowledge of the narrative agent not only constitutes the content and meaning of the narrative itself, but is also closely related to the emotional response of the recipient. Also, the disparity of knowledge between narrative agents is an important factor in making a narrative richer and more interesting. But It tends to be treated as a sub-topic of narration theory or genre/style studies rather than an independent subject of narrative studies or criticism. In this paper, I propose a model that can systematically and quantitatively analyze the knowledge of narrative agents. The proposed model consists of the knowledge structure that represents a narrative, the knowledge state that expresses the knowledge of narrative agent as a degree of belief, and the knowledge flow that means changes in the knowledge state according to the development of events. In addition, the formal notation of the knowledge structure and a probabilistic inference model that could obtain the state of knowledge were proposed, and the knowledge structure and knowledge flow were analyzed by applying the model to the actual narrative. It is expected that the proposed model will be of practical help in the creation and evaluation of narratives.
