  • Background: The objective of this study is to identify the working conditions and health status of Vietnamese male migrant workers in Republic of Korea, in comparison to the Korean general population. Methods: We conducted our survey through the Migrant People Center, and we received completed questionnaires from 87 male Vietnamese migrant workers. The questionnaire employed was identical to those used in the Korean Working Conditions Survey and the 2020 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The collected data from the Vietnamese migrant workers was then compared with the Korean reference population using indirect age-standardization. Results: Vietnamese male workers demonstrated a higher prevalence of health problems including hearing problems (age-standardized prevalence ratio (aSPR) 13.22, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 8.07-20.4), skin problems (aSPR 13.49, 95% CI: 8.07-20.4), and low back pain (aSPR 8.40, 95% CI: 6.50-10.69). Elevated exposure to workplace hazards such as chemicals (aSPR 2.36, 95% CI: 1.51-3.51), organic solvents (aSPR 2.22, 95% CI: 1.44-3.28), handling of heavy objects (aSPR 1.67, 95% CI: 1.24-2.21), and high temperatures (aSPR 1.96, 95% CI: 1.46-2.57) was observed among them. Additionally, they faced a higher risk of no personal protective equipment (aSPR 2.53, 95% CI: 1.26-4.52) and a greater prevalence of unmet medical needs (aSPR 7.14, 95% CI: 4.74-10.32). Conclusion: Our findings highlight the elevated workplace hazards, health problems, and unmet medical needs among Vietnamese male workers compared to the Korean reference population. These findings underscores the urgency for enhanced scrutiny over working conditions and protective equipment provision, coupled with efforts to improve healthcare accessibility and worker education.

  • In this paper, we examine whether the poor performance of distressed firms where banks take equity may occur due to agency problems in banks. By adopting the debt-equity swap, the bank can effectively postpone the occurrence of bad loans form the failure of the distressed firm. As a result, firms with more debt will be more likely to obtain debt-equity swap, regardless of their probabilities of revival. This is not because they are more profitable, but because they have more debt and thus it poses greater risk to the bank. We empirically look into these predictions with the data of 44 workout firms and find the following results. First, debt-equity swap appears to be more applicable especially when the distressed firms are large and when BIS of related banks is low. Specifically, the conditional probability of 'large firms' based on debt-equity swap is 65.52% and the conditional probability of 'bad banks' based on debt-equity swap is 75.86%. Also, as predicted, the performance of these debt-equity firms is poorer than that of non debt-equity firms. The conditional probability of 'large firms' based on posterior failure is 84.62% and the conditional probability of 'bad banks' based on posterior failure is 84.62%. This is consistent with our predictions and is also confirmed through results of the logit regression analysis. Second, when the restructuring is led by 'good banks', the performance of equity-swap firms is superior to that of non equity-swap firms. This result is consistent with that of James(1995). Hence, we can conclude that there may be some agency problems in restructuring distressed firm-especially when distressed firms are large and banks are bad. And these agency problems can reconcile the difference between James' results and Park, Lee, and Jang's.

  • This article investigates the software acquisition problems as two dimensional : custom/pacakage and insource /outsource. The analysis adopts the cost-benefit frame work in explaining software acquisition problems and takes two leveled approach. The first level examines the cost-benefit relationship of the determinants affecting both dimensions, and these determinants are derived from theories of transaction cost, incomplete contracting, and agency. The second level focuses on the impact of general cost-benefit frivers of the software acquisition decisions. The results facilitate a broader and more detailed understanding on the software acquisition problems.

  • The film has far-reaching power than any other media. For this reason, a censorship has existed in some way but censorship is like a double-edged sword. If KMRB stood in front of a desire to preserve the morals of society and youth protection, creativity of artists must be shaken. On the contrary if free will is emphasized, social chaos will be increase. Thus most countries made various censorship systems in order to overcome this contradiction. In recent years, mainly on the issue of censorship and the rating is a tendency to transfer to the voluntary deliberation agency. However, this issue is still dealing with this problem at KMRB in Korea. Then KMRB mistakes itself as the guardian of situation ethics and morality. Recently various problems appeared in the film rating system. KMRB should be devolved on the voluntary deliberation agency in order to solve the problem. therefore this study The study will be to review the need for voluntary veliberation agency.

  • Enterprise Architecture (EA) is known as a means to solve IT management problems. In 2005, the South Korean government introduced it and required each agency to develop a variety of architectural products. Such an early-stage EA effort turned out to be not very effective because those products were hardly of use for pan-government IT governance. Realizing these problems, the Lee Myung Bak government has decided to change its direction so that EA products would also be utilized at pan-government IT decisionmaking. After reviewing the early stage of EA effort, we in this study describe such a transition. Future directions of EA efforts are also discussed at the end.

  • The presence of musculoskeletal burden tasks and work related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) at Industrial workers was not well-known until 2000 in Korea. Since The Occupational Safety & Health Law was registered a business of proprietor duty in preventing work-related MSDs of workers In July of 2003 WMSDs became a big issue in Korea. A social previous interest was focused on the manufacturing industry just like auto and shipping industry in manufacturing sectors but nowadays it is spreading out to non-manufacturing fields gradually. Nevertheless, we have WMSD prevention Law and System in Korea to reduce WMSDs effectively and systematically we recognized some mistakes and problems of WMSD Law and System. In this paper we study these recent problems in Korea from about 10 years experience and proposed some proposals as discussion.

  • In the real system application, the interacting multiple model (IMM) based algorithm requires less computing resources as well as a good performance with respect to the various target maneuverings. And it further requires an easy design procedure in terms of its structures and parameters. To solve these problems, a fuzzy interacting multiple model (FIMM) algorithm, which is based on the basis sub-models defined by considering the maneuvering property and the time-varying mode transition probabilities designed by using the mode probabilities as inputs of a fuzzy decision maker, is proposed. To verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, airborne target tracking is performed. Simulation results show that the FIMM algorithm solves all problems in the real system application of the IMM based algorithm.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the development of mechanical projectile transfer system to prevent musculoskeletal problems in the firing test range. Prior to 2010, the projectile has been transferred from the worktable to the loading device of 155mm K9 fixed-type artillery by manual. Because the amount of firing test has been increased drastically since 2010, two types of mechanical projectile transfer system were developed to prevent musculoskeletal problems. The NIOSH lift equation and the working posture assessment system such as OWAS, RULA and REBA were used to evaluate the appropriacy of working weight and posture by manual transfer of projectile. The configuration and operation procedure of projectile transfer systems which were developed to improve work efficacy and to reduce the burden of manual transferring were described. The improvements were assessed by the number of processes, the tact time and the working posture assessment for operation of this system by comparing to the manual transfer of projectile.
