In recent, the application of polymeric insulators for outdoor is significantly increasing. These materials have shown good performance in service, but had disadvantages under long-term exposure to contamination and moisture, resulting in some problems. Thus, this study concentrated on the development of technique evaluating the insulating status. Experiment was referred to lEC publ. 587, with data aquisition system to monitor leakage current. The components of leakage current investigated were waveform and 3rd harmonic. FFT was conducted for the analysis of harmonic components. The distortion of waveform with application time of voltage was evident, and so the 3rd harmonic component.

This study investigates the color of daily clothes of middle era of Yi dynasty by examining the color of excavated clothing which was the real clothes in 16th and 17th centuries. The purposes of this study lie in understanding emotional feeling observed by exact measurement of the color of the excavated and devising a method of reserving the color of the excavated by inspecting the discolored color of the excavated. For this, the color difference was measured by color measuring system. Minolta Chroma-meter, and then recorded in L*a*b system. The 3-dimensional color difference was observed by analyzing these data on Methmetica and change in color with ageing was assessed by reconstructing the color by Phoposhop. The color construction of daily clothes of middle era of the Chosun Dynasty was founded on a philosophy, and it was made up of colors such as white, brown, and blue. This color construction seemed to be based on the philosophy of naturalism symbolizing surrounding nature, e.g., white symbolizes Bak-sasang(bak-philosophy) and blue implies Eumyangohangsul.

Elderly people living in poverty are one of the most vulnerable population groups who are at risk of experiencing social exclusion. Social participation is an important contributing factor to active aging and social integration of the older adults living in poverty. This study aims to identify factors affecting social participation of the poor elderly. Data from the second wave of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing was used for the analyses and 1,346 poor elderly aged over 65 were analyzed. The findings showed that age, education, health status, a level of depression, financial stress, and economic activity were associated with the social participation of the elderly living in poverty. These results indicated that psychological empowerment and specific needs of the older adults living in poverty should be considered in developing services and programs to promote social participation of the poor elderly.

Material degradation should be considered to assess integrity and residual life of high temperature equipments. However, the property data reflecting degradation are not sufficient for practical use. In this study, mechanical properties of 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V casting steel generally used for turbine casing were measured and variation of microstructure was observed. Degradation was simulated by isothermal heat treatment.

Among several non-destructive testing methods, ultrasonic pulse velocity method has been widely used for the evaluation of concrete strength. However, this method might not provide accurate estimated results since factors influencing the relationship between strength and wave velocity is not considered. In this study, the evaluation methods of concrete strength using compression wave velocities measured by either ultrasonic pulse velocity method or impact-resonance method are proposed. A basic equation is obtained by the linear regression with velocity vs. strength data at a specific age and then, ageing factor is employed in the equation to consider the difference of the increasing rate between wave velocity and strength. Strengths predicted by the proposed equation agree well with test results.

More a reddish color of KNBP was related to higher frequency of slower fiber type. Tender meat with a faster ageing rate for KNBP was coincided with a faster proteolytic rate, and likely a higher collagen solubility (data not shown). However, it is not confirmed whether the results were linked to the favorable pH/temperature window during rigor development, or fiber composition for tender meat.

This study examines whether regular exercise moderates the relationship between hand grip strength and cognitive function in older adults. Older adults 65 and over from the third wave of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing Data were analyzed. A moderated multiple regression analysis was conducted to assess the moderating effects of regular exercise on the relationship between hand grip strength and cognitive function. According to the results, regular exercise moderated the effects of hand grip strength on cognitive function, suggesting that regular exercise should be promoted for older adults to reduce unfavorable effects of a decrease in hand grip strength on cognitive function.

The purpose of this study is to examine support policies regarding work and family reconciliation, to suggest plans to improve workplace policies, and to suggest directions for further studies. This study looks at OECD's work-life reconciliation policies as well as family friendly workplace policies in Korea to find a way to enhance business' receptiveness and implementation of the policies. By examining women's labor conditions, this study finds that family friendly workplace policies are necessarily imminent in our society of low fertility and ageing. Along with the evaluation of benefit level and the effectiveness of current policies, this study uses data from interviews with working mothers who have had the experience of family friendly benefits. The results of the analyses suggest that the government should focus on improving the workplace environment in companies that do not show bias against the use of family friendly policies. In order to farm more successful policies, future studies are needed to analyze the changes of fertility, working conditions, support programs, and benefits.

The ageing process was checked by leakage current monitoring in Salt Fog Method. In order to monitor leakage current, DAS with 12-bit, 8-channel A/D converter was prepared. The monitored components of leakage current were averages of the rms and peak, max peak, cumulative charge, and the cumulative number of peak pulses. The acquired data were stored to the disc periodically. And, surface conductivity was measured to investigate loss of hydrophobicity. The results suggest that surface conductivity and leakage current are well corresponding to initial loss of hydrophobicity.

Due to the aging of economically active population in the world, the average age of workers in the domestic construction industry is also steadily increasing. This study analyzes the aging of construction workers in small-size construction sites in Busan, where the aging of the economically active population is the most severe in Korea. As a result of the study on the aging of construction workers in six construction sites with a construction cost of less than 500 million won in Busan, it was found that 65% of the workers were over 50 years of age. In addition, several experts interviews and survey revealed that 'securing welfare facilities for construction workers' and 'diminishing prejudice about the construction industry" were the most urgent and effective methods to overcome the aging problems. The results of this study can be served as basic data to solve the aging problems in the industry.
