Properties of Porous Silver with Polysiloxane Addition (다공성 은의 폴리실록센 첨가에 따른 물성 변화)

  • A porous material which can contain liquid perfume was manufactured by adding 1~4 wt% of polysiloxane into a composite containing 20 ㎛ Ag powder and 30 wt% of 53 ㎛ salt, sintering for 60 min at 750℃, and melting salt selectively. The changes in pore, hardness, and microstructure were confirmed according to the polysiloxane content both before and after sintering. The manufactured silver liquid container was formed with open pores both before and after sintering, and the container shrunk by 2~7 % in both perpendicular and parallel directions after sintering. Vickers hardness was increased after sintering and was doubled when 2 wt% of polysiloxane was added. In case of the microstructure, the surface condition of the silver liquid container became darker according to the polysiloxane content, and the pore size was decreased from 50 ㎛ to under 10 ㎛. The composition distribution result revealed an even distribution when 2 wt% of polysiloxane was added but uneven distribution when over 3 wt% of polysiloxane was added due to decreased hardness by cluster. Therefore, the addition of an appropriate amount of 2 wt% polysiloxane reinforced the porous silver with open pores to offer application for jewelry usage.

Improving Joint Reliability of Lead-free Solder on Flexible Substrate under Cyclic Bending by Adding Graphene Oxide Powder (그래핀 산화 분말을 첨가한 플렉시블 기판 솔더 접합부의 반복 굽힘 신뢰성 향상)

  • In this study, a new approach using graphene oxide (GO) powder-composited Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu(in wt.%) solder paste for improving the bending reliability of solder joints between a flexible substrate and small outline package (SOP) was suggested. The GO addition slightly affected the melting temperature, however, the change in the melting temperature was not significant. Meanwhile, we observed the addition of GO could suppress IMC growth and IMC thickness of solder joint during the reflow process. Moreover, the cyclic bending test was also performed for evaluation of reliability in solder joint and we could improve the cyclic bending reliability of solder joint by adding GO powders. For 0.2 wt.% of GO added to the solder joint, the bending lifetime was increased to 20% greater than that without GO. Pull strength and ductility of the solder joint with GO were also higher than those of the joint without GO and it was assumed that this effect by adding GO could contribute to improve cyclic bending reliability of solder joint.

Microstructure and Electric Contact Properties of Spark Plasma Sintered Ta-Cu Composite (방전플라즈마 소결법으로 제조된 Ta-Cu의 미세조직 및 전기접점 특성)

  • Microstructure, electric, and thermal properties of the Ta-Cu composite is evaluated for the application in electric contact materials. This material has the potential to be used in a medium for a high current range of current conditions, replacing Ag-MO, W, and WC containing materials. The optimized SPS process conditions are a temperature of $900^{\circ}C$ for a 5 min holding time under a 30 MPa mechanical pressure. Comparative research is carried out for the calculated and actual values of the thermal and electric properties. The range of actual thermal and electric properties of the Ta-Cu composite are 50~300 W/mk and 10~90 %IACS, respectively, according to the compositional change of the 90 to 10 wt% Ta-Cu system. The results related to the electric contact properties, suggest that less than 50 wt% of Ta compositions are possible in applications of electric contact materials.

  • 스크린 프린팅에 의한 압전 후막은 MEMS 공정을 이용하여 마이크로 펌프, 마이크로 벨브, 마이크로 센서, 마이크로 로봇 등 여러 초소형 기계부품에 응용되고 있으며, Sol-Gel, PLD를 이용해 증착된 막 등에 비해 수십${\mu}m$의 비교적 두꺼운 막을 형성시킬 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다. 그러나 실리콘 기판을 사용하여 스크린 프린팅으로 형성된 압전 후막의 경우, 공정상 바인더를 연소시키는 과정을 거치게 되므로, 밀집된(Dense) 구조를 가지는 막을 만들기가 어렵다. 이로 인해 스크린 프린팅에 의한 후막은 전기적 특성 및 기계적 특성이 떨어지는 경향이 있다. 본 연구에서는 스크린 프린팅에 의한 압전 후막의 밀집된 구조 및 특성을 향상시키기 위해 0.01Pb$(Mg_{1/2}W_{1/2})$O3-0.41Pb$(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-0.35PbTiO_3-0.23PbZrO_3$의 powder와 Attrition 밀링 처리된 powder를 비율별로 혼합하여 입자의 크기를 변화시켜 막의 충진 밀도를 향상시켰으며, 열처리 효과를 극대화시키기 위해 RTA(Rapidly Thermal Annealing)를 통해 열처리 하였다. Attrition 밀링에 의한 파우더를 각각 비율별로 100%, 50%, 25%로 혼합하여 만든 압전 세라믹 페이스트는 P-type(100)Si Wafer sample 위에 $1{\mu}m$의 하부전극용($1100^{\circ}C$) Ag 전극을 screen print하여 소결했다. 그리고 다시 전극이 형성된 Si wafer 위에 스크린 프린팅하고, 건조 한 후 RTA로 300초 동안 열처리 한 결과 밀집된 구조를 가지는 압전 후막을 제작 수 있었다.

A STUDY ON THE MICROSTRUCTURES OF THE AMALGAM ALLOYS AND AMALGAMS (치과용 아말감합금 및 아말감의 마세구조에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of the compositions and phases of amalgam alloys and amalgams by using EMPA and X-ray diffractometer. Each specimen was made from Caulk Fine Cut Clow copper lathe cut amalgam), Caulk Spherical (low copper spherical amalgam), Tytin (high copper unicorn position amalgam), Dispersally (high copper admixed amalgam) and Valiant (Palladium enriched amalgam). For preparing amalgam alloys, Tytin and Valiant were used as powder forms and the others were used as tablet forms after being polished with polishing machine. For preparing amalgams, each amalgam alloy and Hg were measured, and triturated by mechanical amalgamater according to user's instructions. After triturating, the triturated mass was inserted to cylindrical metal mold and simultaneously adapted by cylindrical condenser with same diameter and condensed by Instron universal testing machine with 80kg pressure & 1mm/min speed. Each specimen was removed from the metal mold and stored at room temperature for a week. The specimen was polished with the same polishing machine for amalgam alloy. For observation of microstructure and analysis of composition of amalgam alloys and amalgams, EMPA was used to get secondary electron images, backscattered images and characteristic X-ray images of Ag, Sn, Cu, Zn, Hg. To analyze compositions of amalgam alloys and amalgams, X-ray diffractometer was used. Amalgam alloys were scanned at the range of 2${\theta}$ of 30-$85^{\circ}$ and the speed of $4^{\circ}$/min with Cuka line and amalgams were scanned at the range of 2${\theta}$ of 28-$44^{\circ}$ and the speed of $4^{\circ}$/min with Cuka line. By comparing obtained d(distance between surfaces) and d of expected phases and atoms in amalgam alloys and amalgams in ASTM card, phases and atoms were identified. The results were as follows, 1. In Caulk Fine Cut amalgam alloy typical ${\gamma}$ phase was shown, and in amalgam, ${\gamma}$, ${\gamma}_1$ and ${\gamma}_2$ phases were observed. 2. In Caulk Spherical amalgam alloy ${\gamma}$, Ag, Cu and $\varepsilon$ phases were shown, and in amalgam ${\gamma}$, ${\gamma}_1$, ${\gamma}_2$ and $\eta$ phases were observed. 3. In Tytin amalgam alloy ${\gamma}$, Cu and $\varepsilon$ phases were shown, and in amalgam ${\gamma}$, ${\gamma}_1$, $\eta$ and $\varepsilon$ phases were observed. 4. In Dispersalloy ${\gamma}$, Ag, Cu and $\varepsilon$ phases were shown, and in amalgam ${\gamma}$, ${\gamma}_1$, $\eta$ and $\varepsilon$ phases were observed. 5. In Valiant alloy ${\gamma}$, Cu and e phases were shown, and in amalgam ${\gamma}$, ${\gamma}_1$, $\eta$ and $\varepsilon$ phases were observed.

Microwave Absorbing Properties of Silver-coated Ni-Zn Ferrite Spheres Prepared by Electroless Plating (무전해 도금법에 의해 제조된 은 피복 Ni-Zn Ferrite Sphere의 전파흡수특성)

  • The present investigation provides an electromagnetic radiation absorptive composition which comprises silver-coated ferrite microspheres dispersed in silicon rubber matrix for the aim of thin microwave absorber in GHz frequencies. Ni-Zn ferrite spheres with $50{\mu}m$ size in average were prepared by spray-drying and sintering at $1130^{\circ}C$. Conductive silver layer was plated on ferrite spheres by electroless plating. Conductive Ni-Zn ferrite sphere with uniform silver layer were obtained in the concentration of 10 g/L $AgNO_3$ per 20 g ferrite spheres. For this powder, electrical resistance is reduced as low as $10^{-2}\~10^{-3}\;\Omega$. The most sensitive material parameters with silver plating is real and imaginary parts of complex permittivity. The conductive Ni-Zn ferrite spheres have large values of dielectric constant. Due to this high dielectric constant of microspheres, matching thickness is reduced to as low as 2 mm at the frequency of 7 GHz, which is much thinner than conventional ferrite absorbers.

Freshness Maintenance of Polyethylene Film Containing Surface-modified Zeolite (표면 개질된 제올라이트를 포함한 폴리에틸렌 필름의 선도유지기능)

  • Freshness maintenance of polyethylene packaging film containing surface-modified zeolite was investigated depending on the nature of substituted cations and cationic surfactants. Freshness maintenance was designed to work by cation or cationic surfactant adsorbed onto the zeolite surface by ion-exchange method. Cationic surfactants such as DODAB (n-dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide), CTAB (n-cetyltrimethylammonium bromide), and DHAB (n-dihexadecyldime-thylammonium bromide), and cations ($Ce^{3+},\;Al^{3+},\;Mg^{2+},\;Ca^{2+},\;Ag^{3+},\;Na^{1+}\;and\;Cu^{3+}$) were used. Surface-modified zeolite powder was compounded with LDPE to produce $20\;wt\%$ zeolite masterbatch (M/B), and the M/B was again blended with LDPE to get zeolite-containing LDPE films with 3, 5, $10\;wt\%$ of zeolite (width: 40 cm, thickness: $40\;{\mu}m$). Mechanical properties of zeolite-containing LDPE films generally decreased with increasing zeolite content. However, cationic surfactant-modified zeolite film showed the better mechanical properties compared to cation-modified zeolite film. As for the freshness maintenance, the zeolite-containing films modified with cationic surfactants or cations ($Al^{3+},\;Ag^{3+}$) showed the best performance.

  • An important business-field of world-wide steel-industry is the coating of thin metal-sheets with zinc, zinc-aluminum and aluminum based materials. These products mostly go into automotive industry. in particular for the car-body. into building and construction industry as well as household appliances. Due to mass-production, the processing is done in large continuously operating plants where the mostly cold-rolled metal-strip as the substrate is handled in coils up to 40 tons unwind before and rolled up again after passing the processing plant which includes cleaning, annealing, hot-dip galvanizing / aluminizing and chemical treatment. In the liquid Zn, Zn-AI, AI-Zn and AI-Si bathes a combined action of corrosion and wear under high temperature and high stress onto the transfer components (rolls) accounts for major economic losses. Most critical here are the bearing systems of these rolls operating in the liquid system. Rolls in liquid system can not be avoided as they are needed to transfer the steel-strip into and out of the crucible. Since several years, ceramic roller bearings are tested here [1.2], however, in particular due to uncontrollable Slag-impurities within the hot bath [3], slide bearings are still expected to be of a higher potential [4]. The today's state of the art is the application of slide bearings based on Stellite\ulcorneragainst Stellite which is in general a 50-60 wt% Co-matrix with incorporated Cr- and W-carbides and other composites. Indeed Stellite is used as the bearing-material as of it's chemical properties (does not go into solution), the physical properties in particular with poor lubricating properties are not satisfying at all. To increase the Sliding behavior in the bearing system, about 0.15-0.2 wt% of lead has been added into the hot-bath in the past. Due to environmental regulations. this had to be reduced dramatically_ This together with the heavily increasing production rates expressed by increased velocity of the substrate-steel-band up to 200 m/min and increased tractate power up to 10 tons in modern plants. leads to life times of the bearings of a few up to several days only. To improve this situation. the Mechanical Alloying (MA) TeChnique [5.6.7.8] is used to prOduce advanced Stellite-based bearing materials. A lubricating phase is introduced into Stellite-powder-material by MA, the composite-powder-particles are coated by High Energy Milling (HEM) in order to produce bearing-bushes of approximately 12 kg by Sintering, Liquid Phase Sintering (LPS) and Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP). The chemical and physical behavior of samples as well as the bearing systems in the hot galvanizing / aluminizing plant are discussed. DependenCies like lubricant material and composite, LPS-binder and composite, particle shape and PM-route with respect to achievable density. (temperature--) shock-reSistibility and corrosive-wear behavior will be described. The materials are characterized by particle size analysis (laser diffraction), scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. corrosive-wear behavior is determined using a special cylinder-in-bush apparatus (CIBA) as well as field-test in real production condition. Part I of this work describes the initial testing phase where different sample materials are produced, characterized, consolidated and tested in the CIBA under a common AI-Zn-system. The results are discussed and the material-system for the large components to be produced for the field test in real production condition is decided. Outlook: Part II of this work will describe the field test in a hot-dip-galvanizing/aluminizing plant of the mechanically alloyed bearing bushes under aluminum-rich liquid metal. Alter testing, the bushes will be characterized and obtained results with respect to wear. expected lifetime, surface roughness and infiltration will be discussed. Part III of this project will describe a second initial testing phase where the won results of part 1+11 will be transferred to the AI-Si system. Part IV of this project will describe the field test in a hot-dip-aluminizing plant of the mechanically alloyed bearing bushes under aluminum liquid metal. After testing. the bushes will be characterized and obtained results with respect to wear. expected lifetime, surface roughness and infiltration will be discussed.

Application of Art Clay Silver in Manufacturing Necklace (목걸이 제작에 있어서 Art Clay Silver활용에 관한 연구)

  • In the world, most of the metal technologists were as called as adornment artists than other field of industrial arts strongly industrial characters functional materials and manufacturing technology many used in the present age. In the study, one of adornments researched and material character analyzed about Art Clay Silver. The shrinkage rate of shape was about 0.24%. A shrinking phenomenon drying time thought of evaporation of water linking bonding agents and powders. After calcination of Art Clay Silver, the EDX used that just Ag 100% analyzed a result from the surface assay in the room temperature. A binder with powder in the room temperature considered to disappear, because it was been fume and smoke at high calcined temperature. A study showed when handicrafted necklaces make by these characteristic as using in difficult and delicated operations rather than naturally and beautifully expressive products.

  • 제지산업에 경쟁력을 부여할 수 있는 방법의 일환으로 제지용 도공안료의 표면개질을 시도하였다 은(Ag)이 항균력이 있다는 것이 여러 사람에 의해 증명된바 있으므로 이 은의 항균력을 제지용 무기안료에 이산화티탄과 함께 표면개질하고 다기능성 복합 항균분체를 설계하였다. 표면개질장치에 설치한 기상분사장치를 통해 은 용액을 고압기상분사로 TiO$_2$입자 표면에 Coating 하였다 이때의 분무각도는 60$^{\circ}$이고 오리피스 직경은 0.6mm, 분사 압력은 14kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ 이다. TiO$_2$에 은 용액을 기상분사하여 코팅시킨 후 표면개질 계산식에 의한 배합비로 모입자(clay, CaCO$_3$, PE)와 자입자(TiO$_2$)를 혼합하였고, 분체의 대전현상을 이용하여 모입자 주위에 자입자를 부착시킨 후, 고속기류중 충격력으로 표면개질처리를 하였다 표면개질 장치를 사용하여 제지용 무기안료 표면에 은용액이 코팅된 TiO$_2$를 개질 시켰다. 각종 물성(항균성, 백색도, 산란도)과 XRD, SEM 측정을 통해 기능성 항균분체의 실용방안 가능성에 대하여 조사하였다.
