신문을 활용한 토의 학습 활동이 초등학교 5학년 학생들의 과학 학업 성취도와 정의적 특성에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Discussion Using Newspapers on 5th Grade Elementary School Students' Scientific Academic Achievement and Affective Characteristics)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of discussion using newspapers on fifth grade elementary school students' academic achievement and affective characteristics related to science. Additionally, this study intended to examine students' ideas about newspaper utilization, discussion based learning and science with questionnaire. The subjects were 59 fifth grade students from two classes. NIE was used in the experimental group and traditional teaching methods in the control group. In pretest and posttest sessions, both groups were evaluated by the academic achievement test, and an affective characteristics related science test. The results of this study showed that the academic achievement of the experimental group which applied discussion using newspapers was significantly higher than that of the control group which applied traditional instruction, especially in terms of knowledge and understanding. Additionally, the results showed that discussion using newspapers had a positive effect on affective domains such as perception, interest and attendance for science classes. In particular, the post-results of the experimental group were higher than pre-results, on the other hand, those of the control group were lower than preresults in all affective domains. It appeared that students had positive thoughts about newspaper utilization, discussion based learning, and science. The half of students who had low academic achievement showed negative reactions for discussion based learning.

과학교사에 의해 조성되는 심리적 학습환경이 학생들의 과학 성취도에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of the Psychological Learning Environment by Science Teachers on Students' Science Achievement)

  • 과학 및 과학교과에 대한 학생들의 정의적 인식이 어떻게 하면 긍정적인 방향으로 행동변화를 가져올 수 있는가?에 연구의 목적을 가지고서, 과학수업 과정에서 교사에 의한 학습환경의 분위기나 풍토를 조성하는 심리적 측면이 학생들의 성취도에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 1년간 동일한 교사로부터 과학수업을 받은 중 고등학교 2, 3학년학생들이 가지고 있는 교사인식을 바탕으로 심리적 학습환경을 측정하고, 이 환경인식에 따른 과학불안 인식, 과학에 대한 태도, 과학 탐구능력, 과학성취도와의 관계 및 효과를 조사하였다. 이를 토대로 밝혀진 결과는 심리적 학습 환경은 학생들의 정의적 인식 성향과 인지적 학습결과에 직 간접적인 효과를 주며, 유의한 정적 상관을 보였다. 즉, 교사가 조성하는 수업태도, 인성특성, 학습분위기, 수업행동, 지원적 행동 등은 학생들의 과학에 대한 정의적인 행동특성을 변화시킬 수 있는 수업의 사태로써 유의하게 작용할 수 있으며, 과학 성취에도 의미있게 작용한다는 점을 시사해주고 있다.

중학교 과학에서 탐구자료 활용 수업의 효과 (The Effects of Inquiry Instruction Utilizing Materials in Middle School Science)

  • The purpose for this study is to check if research activities can make positive effects on inquiry instruction utilizing materials when compared to traditional instruction utilizing the textbook. The effects of the class should be measured both in cognitive domain and in affective domain. The cognitive domain was measured by the change in achievements in learning science, and the affective domain was measured by the change in learning attitudes of science. The assumptions to be verified in this study were as follows. First, achievements in learning science are higher in the learner oriented inquiry instruction utilizing materials than in the learner oriented traditional instruction utilizing the textbook. Second, learning attitudes of science are higher in the learner oriented inquiry instruction utilizing materials than in the learner oriented traditional instruction utilizing the textbook.The results of the research are as follows. In the cognitive domain, achievements in learning science showed significant change(p=.045) measured by verifying the score for the difference among the averages for each sub-scale, in 5% of meaningful probability, and were higher in the inquiry instruction utilizing materials study. In the affective domain, learning attitudes of science showed significant change(p=.019) measured by verifying the score for the difference among the averages for each sub-scale, in 5% of meaningful probability, and were higher in the inquiry instruction utilizing materials study. In learning attitudes of science, 2 items(self-conception of science, attitudes of learning science) out of 3 items(self-conception of science, attitudes of learning science, learning habits of science) showed significant changes (p=.045, p=.001). But the difference(learning-habits of science) was not significant(p=.914).

수학 학습에 미치는 주요 영향 요인 분석: 선행 연구로부터의 통찰 (Identifying Key Influences on Mathematics Learning: Insights from Prior Research)

  • Achieving something in learning is a very important task. Due to its significance, extensive research has been conducted over a long period to determine what factors influence learning. In the field of mathematics, such research has been continuously carried out, and as a result, it has been revealed that cognitive, affective, and socio-environmental factors influence mathematics learning. However, most of these studies were based on one or two variables, and thus, they did not comprehensively examine the factors affecting mathematics learning. Therefore, this study aims to synthesize the existing research to comprehensively derive the factors influencing mathematics learning.

Effect of coding integrated mathematics program on affective mathematics engagement

  • The integration of coding and mathematics education, known as coding-integrated mathematics education, has received much attention due to the strength of Artificial Intelligence-based Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (AI-based STEAM) education in improving students' affective domain. The present study investigated the effectiveness of coding-integrated mathematics education on students' development of affective mathematics engagement. Participants in this study were 86 middle and high school students who attended the coding-integrated mathematics program. Surveys of students' affective mathematics engagement were administered before and after the intervention period. The results showed that students' affective mathematics engagement was statistically significantly improved through coding-integrated mathematics education. In particular, students exhibited increased positive affective mathematics engagement in terms of mathematical attitude, emotion, and value. These findings indicate the positive influence of coding-integrated mathematics education on students' learning in mathematics.

간호학과 학생들의 협동적 정보행태에 대한 만족도와 정서적 경험에 관한 연구 (Undergraduate Nursing Students' User Satisfaction and Affective Experiences of Collaborative Information Behavior)

  • 본 연구는 간호학과 학생들의 그룹과제 시 협동적 정보행태에서 나타나는 만족도 및 정서적 경험 등을 설문조사하여 이들의 관계에 대해 종합적으로 분석해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 이용자들의 협동적 정보검색에서 나타나는 긍정적 또는 부정적 정서에 대한 평가는 동일 설문지에서 PANAS 척도를 이용하여 정서적 경험을 측정하였다. 학생들의 협동적 정보검색에 대한 경험은 정서적 측면과 상관관계를 살펴보고, 일반적 특성, 협동적 정보검색에 대한 경험, 정서적 측면과의 통계적 우의성은 t-test로 분석하였다. 연구결과, 간호학과 학생들의 협동적 정보검색과 정서적 경험은 상관관계가 있었으며, 또한 학생들의 일반적 특성, 협동적 정보검색과 정서적 경험은 통계적으로 유의미한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 학생들의 성별과 '전반적 협동에 대한 만족도', 학생들의 성별과 긍정적 정서에서 유의미한 상관관계를 나타내었다. 본 연구를 통해서 협동적 정보행태에서 정서적 경험에 대한 후속 연구에 가능성을 발견하였다.

문제제기 활동이 수학에 대한 정의적 영역에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Problem-posing Activities on the Affective Domain of Mathematics)

  • 본 연구에서는 '수학 문제로부터의 문제제기' 수업이 학생들의 수학과 정의적 영역에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고 학생들의 정의적 성취에 대한 교사차원에서의 평가 관리 방안을 마련하기 위해 실험연구를 실시하였다. 그리고 양적 질적 접근을 결합한 3단계로 연구대상 전체학생 및 개별학생의 정의적 성취의 변화를 분석하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 문제제기 수업은 문제해결능력 향상과 학습활동 자체에서의 유의미한 경험으로 이어지면서 학생들의 수학에 대한 자신감, 흥미, 가치, 학습의욕을 향상시켰다. 둘째, 중학교 1학년 수학부터 고등학교 3학년 수학까지 학생들의 정의적 영역은 중시되어야 하며 체계적인 평가 관리가 실시되어야 한다. 셋째, 수학과 정의적 영역의 평가 체계와 방법을 국가수준에서 구체적으로 제시하고 보급할 필요가 있다. 이런 맥락에서 교사는 교실수업에서 문제제기 교수 학습을 적극적으로 실행하여 학생들의 정의적 성취를 도와야 하며, 정기적으로 모든 학생의 정의적 성취를 측정하고 관리할 필요가 있다는 결론과 시사점을 얻었다.

자연과 포트폴리로 적용 수업이 초등학생의 과학 정의적 특성과 포트폴리오 인식에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Portfolio Applied Science Instruction on the Students Scientific Affective Domain and Perceptions of Portfolio in Elementary Schools)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the Portfolio applied science instruction on the students' scientific affective domain and perceptions of portfolio in elementary schools. Portfolio applied science instruction of the 6th grade science unit 'Environment pollution and Nature protection' was developed for this study. Traditional instruction was implemented to the control group and portfolio applied science instruction was implemented to the experimental group. Pretests of the scientific affective domain were administered to both groups. The treatment was given for about seven weeks for both groups. Instruments about scientific affective domain were administered to both groups. A questionnaire on perception of portfolio applied science instruction was given to the experimental group after the treatment. The results were analyzed using t-test on the students' scientific affective domain. The results of this study are as follows: 1. Portfolio applied science instruction program for elementary schools was developed. Students themselves determine the portfolio learning goal in a portfolio applied science instruction. Students construct the portfolio and they evaluate themselves and other colleagues. Also teachers go on portfolio applied science instruction considering portfolio purpose, concepts, evaluation. 2. There was not a statistically meaningful difference between an experimental group and a control group o]1 the students' scientific affective domain. In three sub categories of a scientific affective domain, the science perception, the interest on science and scientific attitude, there were not statistically meaningful difference among them. 3. As the results of the questionnaire on perceptions of portfolio, they didn't understand it very well but after learning portfolio, they showed positive attitude to perceptions of portfolio. Students in portfolio applied science instruction like more the portfolio applied science instruction than general instruction. 4. Portfolio applied science instruction has an useful value as a method of teaching and evaluation. Students and teachers can produce various portfolios products in portfolio applied science instruction. As a conclusion, portfolio applied science instruction was not statistically meaningful on the students' scientific affective domain, but it gives positive effects on perceptions of portfolio in elementary schools. Therefore, portfolio has an educational value as a method of teaching and evaluation for students' growth. In the future, teachers and students must have interaction and feedback in portfolio applied science instruction.

Affective Computing in Education: Platform Analysis and Academic Emotion Classification

  • The main purpose of this study isto explore the potential of affective computing (AC) platforms in education through two phases ofresearch: Phase I - platform analysis and Phase II - classification of academic emotions. In Phase I, the results indicate that the existing affective analysis platforms can be largely classified into four types according to the emotion detecting methods: (a) facial expression-based platforms, (b) biometric-based platforms, (c) text/verbal tone-based platforms, and (c) mixed methods platforms. In Phase II, we conducted an in-depth analysis of the emotional experience that a learner encounters in online video-based learning in order to establish the basis for a new classification system of online learner's emotions. Overall, positive emotions were shown more frequently and longer than negative emotions. We categorized positive emotions into three groups based on the facial expression data: (a) confidence; (b) excitement, enjoyment, and pleasure; and (c) aspiration, enthusiasm, and expectation. The same method was used to categorize negative emotions into four groups: (a) fear and anxiety, (b) embarrassment and shame, (c) frustration and alienation, and (d) boredom. Drawn from the results, we proposed a new classification scheme that can be used to measure and analyze how learners in online learning environments experience various positive and negative emotions with the indicators of facial expressions.

PISA 2015 과학 영역에 나타난 학생 성취수준 집단 및 성별에 따른 교육맥락 변인의 특성 및 영향력 분석 (The analysis of characteristics and effects of contextual variables in terms of student achievement levels and gender based on the results of PISA 2015 science domain)

  • 본 연구에서는 PISA 2015의 과학 영역 결과를 토대로 우리나라 학생의 성취수준 집단 및 성별 집단에 따른 다양한 교육맥락 변인의 특성과 학생들의 성취에 미치는 영향력을 비교 분석하였다. PISA 2015는 과학이 주영역이었기 때문에 과학 영역과 관련된 교수 학습 변인 및 정의적 특성 관련 변인들이 다수 포함되었다. 다집단 구조방정식 모형을 통해서 분석한 결과, 학생들의 수업 환경, 교사의 피드백 등과 같은 교수 학습 특성은 과학 교과의 정의적 특성에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 정의적 특성을 매개로 과학 성취에도 간접적으로 통계적으로 유의하게 정적인 영향을 미치는 것이 확인되었다. 특히 교사의 지지와 맞춤식 수업 등의 교수 방법은 성취수준이 낮은 집단의 정의적 특성향상에 상대적으로 효과가 있었다. 또한 성취수준 집단 간에는 차이가 나타났으나, 성별 집단에서는 차이가 발생하지 않았다. 따라서 학생들의 인지적, 정의적 성취를 향상시키기 위해서 적절한 교수 학습 환경과 전략을 제공하는 것에 대해 지속적으로 강조할 필요가 있을 것이다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 한 우리나라 교육 개선을 위한 시사점과 학생들의 인지적, 정의적 특성을 향상할 수 있는 방안이 논의되었다.
