This study compares the results of collection efficiency of difference gas temperature in cyclone dust collector. The previous researcher's experiment results were used to confirm the reliability of CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamics) model. Based on this verified CFD model, we extended the analysis on the cyclone dust collectors. In CFD study, we used RNG k-epsilon model for analysis of turbulence flow, fluid is air, the velocity at inlet is 10 m/s, the temperature of air is $20^{\circ}C$, $100^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$, $300^{\circ}C$, $600^{\circ}C$ and $1000^{\circ}C$. As the temperature decreases, the average velocity of outer vortex and collection efficiency is increased, showed the highest collection efficiency at $20^{\circ}C$. It can be inferred smooth flow in cyclone dust collector is difficult because air viscosity increases as temperature increases. The power required at $1000^{\circ}C$ is almost 18 times greater than that of $20^{\circ}C$ to get the similar collection efficiency.
The nanoparticles have several interesting properties which cannot be shown in their bulk materials because of their high ratio of surface area to volume. They can be used to manufacture the nanostructured materials, the industrial materials, or the catalyst materials etc.. We can prepare nanoparticles of various sizes with high degree of monodispersity by gas phase processes and those particles can be used as raw materials for various advanced functional materials. In this paper, we introduced the aerosol reactors to synthesize nanoparticles by gas phase processes and also analyzed several features of those aerosol reactors and tried to introduce the recent interesting studies on nanoparticle synthesis by gas phase processes.
In the SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system which is used for controlling the NOx emission from the Diesel engines, the soot deposited on the catalysis causes degradation of the system performance. Numerical study was done to evaluate the performance of soot blower which is proposed as a method for removing the soot on the catalysis. The spray conditions and the effect of the compressed air from the AIG (air inlet gun) were analyzed numerically to evaluate the overall effective method of the soot blowing. The characteristics of the final velocity distribution and velocity waves across the inlet section of the catalysis were evaluated with respect to the geometries of the AIG outlets and pressure conditions. An experimental model was used to validate the results of the numerical calculation that is used for finding the effective removal blowing momentum transfer quantities of soot the inlet section of the catalysis, and it is proposed that the required minimum blowing momentum transfer quantities are over than 0.499 $kg/m{\bullet}t_{eff}$ in the current study.

Most of livestock houses are concentrated in certain area with mass rearing system resulting in rapid spread of infectious diseases such as HPAI (highly pathogenic avian influenza). The livestock-related vehicles which frequently travel between farms could be a major factor for disease spread by means of transmission of airborne aerosol including pathogens. This study was focused on the quantitative measurement of aerosol concentration by field experiment while vehicles were passing through the road. The TSP (total suspended particle) and PM10 (particle matter) were measured using air sampler with teflon filter installed downward the road with consideration of weather forecast and the direction of road. And aerosol spectrometer and video recorders were also used to measure the real-time distribution of aerosol concentration by its size. The results showed that PM2.5 was not considerable for transmission of airborne aerosol from the livestock-related vehicle. The mass generated from the road during the vehicle movement was measured and calculated to 241.4 ${\mu}g/m^3$ by means of the difference between TSP and PM2.5. The dispersion distance was predicted by 79.6 m from the trend curve.

Pig chronic wasting disease, including porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) and postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS), have made a continuous economic damage in pig farms. Airborne spread of livestock viruses are an important spread factor which is difficult to analyze due to invisible airflow and limitation of measurement. The objective of this study is to analyze airborne disease spread between buildings in the experimental pig farm by means of field experiment and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The field experiments were conducted to capture airborne virus using air sampler and teflon filter along multi points in the experimental pig farm. The samples were tested in terms of virus detection resulting in positive reaction for PRRS and PCV-2 viruses, which can be a firm evidence of airborne virus spread. The CFD simulation model was developed by considering complex topography, wind conditions, building arrangement, and ventilation systems and was used to analyze airborne virus spread according to different wind conditions. The CFD computed result showed a possibility of airborne virus spread via livestock aerosol from infected pig house to neighboring pig houses according to wind directions. The CFD simulation technique is expected to provide significant data for estimating and making a counterplan against airborne disease spread.
One of purposes in this study was to confirm the behavior of coughed particles under different ventilation conditions. Three types of ventilation systems were applied for this experiment and the properties of coughed particles were measured using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in an intensive care unit. The changes of total airborne particles for each case showed different trends according to the ventilation type and time, but the deposited particles were similar in all conditions. Although the time taken for 50% of the particles to be deposited was the fastest in case 2, the portion of deposited particles after 300 seconds was only 5% in all conditions. In case 1, a relatively small number of particles were deposited on the wall, but the particle exhaust and deposition on the occupants were the highest. In case 3, the downward ventilation was applied as that recommended by the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and showed different exhaust efficiencies according to the particle size.
For the prediction of the ventilation rate for removing the non-isothermal concentrated fume from the semi-enclosed space, the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis was done. Securing the proper ventilation conditions in emergency state such as in fire is crucial factor for the protection of the resident in the space. In the analysis for the determining the proper ventilation rate, the experimental study had the limitation for simulating the versatile conditions of fume development. The theoretical and computational method had been chosen as the alternate tool for the experimental analysis. In this study, the CFD analysis was done on the defined model which already had been done the experimental analysis by the previous workers. By comparing the prediction on the plume heights and the ventilation rates by the CFD analysis at, and in the parametric model of $1m^3$ with those of the previous experimental works, the feasibility of the computational analysis was evaluated. For the required ventilation rate analyzed by the CFD analysis was over predicted in 7.1% difference with that of the experimental results depending on the different plume height. With the comparison with the analytical Zukoski model at, the CFD analysis on the ventilation was under predicted in 8.3%. By the verification of the feasibility of the CFD analysis, the extended analysis was done for getting the extra information such as the water vapor distribution and $CO^2$ distribution in the semi-enclosed spaces.

This study examines the effect of aerosols on the vertical invigoration of continental stratiform clouds, using a dataset of Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Intensive Operational Period (IOP, March 2000) at the Southern Great Plains (SGP) site. To provide further support to our observation-based findings, the weather research and forecasting (WRF) sensitivity simulations with changing cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) concentrations have been carried out for the golden episode over SGP. First, cross correlation between observed aerosol scattering coefficient and cloud liquid water path (LWP) with a 160-minutes lag is the highest of r = 0.83 for the selected episode, which may be attributable to cloud vertical invigoration induced by an increase in aerosol loading. Modeled cloud fractions in a control run are well matched with the observation in the perspective of cloud morphology and lasting period. It is also found through a simple sensitivity with a change in CCN that aerosol invigoration (AIV) effect on stratiform cloud organization is attributable to a change in the cloud microphysics as well as dynamics such as the corresponding modification of cloud number concentrations, drop size, and latent heating rate, etc. This study suggests a possible cloud vertical invigoration even in the continental stratiform clouds due to aerosol enhancement in spite of a limited analysis based on a few observed continental cloud cases.
The performance of the ammonia injection gun (AIG) used for maximizing the utilization of reducing agent in the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system is decided by several parameters such as the pattern of flow distribution, geometry of the air distribution manifold (ADM) and the array and geometry of nozzles. In the study, the uniformity of jet flows from the nozzles in AIG was analyzed statistically by using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method to evaluate the role of design parameters on the performance of the SCR system. The uniformity of jet flows from the nozzles is being deteriorated with increasing the supplying flow rate to the AIG. Distribution rates to each branch pipe become lower with decreasing distance to the header, and flow rates from nozzle are also reduced with decreasing distance to the header. The uniformity of jet flows from nozzles becomes stable significantly when the ratio of summative area of nozzles to each sectional area of the branch pipe is below 0.5.

A study of polydispersed aerosol dynamics by Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) was carried out. The log-normal particle size distribution was assumed and moment method was considered. In order to apply moment method in Deutsch-Anderson equation, Cunningham slip correction factor and Cochet's charge equation were simplified for certain range of particle size. The three parameters, which explain the particle size distribution, such as total number concentration, geometric mean diameter, and geometric standard deviation were considered to derive the analytic solution. The obtained solution was compared with available numerical results (Bai et al., 1995). The comparison of the numerical and analytic results showed a good agreement.
