수평 이류항의 공간이산화 개선을 통한 급변 유동의 효율적 해석 (Effective Analysis for Rapidly Varying Flows through Improvement in Spatial Discretization of Horizontal Advection Terms)

  • In this study, the numerical model developed by Hong et al.(2008) was improved to be applied to rapidly varying flows such as the inundation of dry land or flow transitions due to large gradients of the bathymetry. A numerical approximation was applied that was consistent with the conservation of momentum in flow expansions and with the Bernoulli equation in flow contractions. The approximation was second order, but the accuracy reduced to first order near extreme values by the use of a minmod limiter. The modified model was verified by acomparison with the theoretical critical depth of weir, and for sufficiently smooth conditions and a fine grid size, both approximations converged to the same solution. In terms of the grid size, it was more effective at obtaining solutions than the previous model and reproduced the inundation of dry land.

  • Streamline simulation researches have been extensively accomplished due to the swiftness of computation and the reduction of numerical dispersion. In this study, we developed a streamline simulation model using a semianalytical solution of ID transport equation. To validate accuracy of the developed model, we compared simulation results of contaminant transport, which were acquired by streamline simulation models using an analytical solution, a numerical solution, and a semianalytical solution. The developed model using the semianalytical solution matched well with the model using an analytical solution. However, streamline simulation model using a numerical solution showed numerical dispersion. For an advection-dominant flow, there was little difference in the simulation results between the developed model and tile analytical model, but the differences between the analytical model and the numerical model were cleary shown. From the comparison of computing time we know that the streamline simulation using the semianalytical solution is 2-60 times as fast as the streamline simulation using the numerical solution.

대기오염모델에서의 이류방정식에 대한 수치적 방법의 비교 (A Comparison of Numerical Methods for the Advection Equation for Air Pollution Models)

  • Numerical solutions to the advection equations used for long-range transport air pollution models are calculated using three numerical methods; Antidiffusion correction method(Smolarkiewicz, 1983), Positive definite advecton scheme obtained by nonlinear renormalization of the advective fluxes(Bott, 1989), and Positive definite pseudospectral method(Bartnicki, 1989). Accuracy, numerical diffusion and computational time requirement are compared for two-dimensional transport calculations in a uniform rotational flow field. The solutions from three methods are positive definite. Bartnicki(1989)'s method is most conservative but requires approximately 10 times as much computational time as Smolarkiewicz(1983)'s method of which numerical diffusion is the largest. All three methods are more conservative for a cone shape initial condition than for a rectangular block initial condition with a steep gradient.

  • Sandy soils are generally used as a capping material to reduce the pollutants transport from the contaminated dredged sediment. However, dredged material capping is not widely used because regulatory agencies are concerned about the potential for contaminants migration through the cap. Movement of contaminated pore water from sediment into cap is mainly related to sediment consolidation during and after cap placement. To evaluate the significance of consolidation induced transport of contaminants from sediment into cap, research centrifuge tests were conducted. Centrifuge test results illustrate that advection and dispersion are the dominant contaminants transport processes and that capping reduces the potential of contaminant migration from the dredged sediment effectively.

  • Interface tracking of two phase is significant to analyze multi-phase phenomena. The VOF(Volume of Fluid) and level set are well known interface tracking method. However, they have limitations to solve compressible flow and incompressible flow at the same time. CIP(Cubic Interpolate Propagation) method is appropriate for considering compressible and incompressible flow at once by solving the governing equation which is divided up into advection and non-advection term. In this article, we analyze the droplet impingement according to various We number using improved CIP method which treats nonlinear term once more comparison with original CIP method. Furthermore, we compare spread radius after droplet impingement on the wall with the experimental data and original CIP original CIP method, and it reduces the mass conservation error which is generated in the numerical analysis comparison with original CIP method.

  • The nuclide transport in the one-dimensional porous medium is considered as a first step in developing a decay chain transport in multidimensional inhomogeneous media. A method of solving conventional advection-dispersion equation with decay chain of arbitrary length by using the method of characteristics (MOC) is introduced. In specific cases where the advection are dominant rather than dispersion, the method is known to be useful : one of the most distinctive advantages in applying the model is that the MU minimizes the numerical dispersion, which is distinguished in such common numerical schemes as finite element method and finite difference method. The suggested model is considered to be effective through several illustrations for the case that decay chain of arbitrary length is involved during transport which is difficult to solve by standard numerical solutions if the medium becomes more complicated.

낙동강하구둑 상류 접근수로에서의 유사량 공식 및 유사 이송형태에 따른 하상변동 수치모의에 관한 연구 (Numerical Analysis for Bed Changes due to Sediment Transport Capacity Formulas and Sediment Transport Modes at the Upstream Approached Channel of the Nakdong River Estuary Barrage)

  • 본 논문에서는 2차원 하상변동 수치모형인 CCHE2D 모형을이용하여 유사량 공식과 유사이송형태별 이류-확산 방정식의 선택이 하상변동 수치모의결과 값에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 실제 현장자료와 비교하였다. 또한 이러한 분석을 기초로 낙동강하구둑 상류 접근수로에서의 최적의 유사량 공식과 유사 이송형태별 이류-확산 방정식을 제안하였다. 낙동강하구둑 상류 접근수로에 대해 Ackers and White와 Engelund and Hansen의 유사량 공식과 소류사와 부유사 유사 이송형태에 따른 이류-확산 방정식을 각각 다르게 적용하여 모의한 결과, Engelund and Hansen 공식을 적용한 경우에는 Ackers and White 공식을 적용한 경우와 비교했을 때, 평수 및 홍수 조건에서 모두 하상변동량이 거의 없는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 Ackers and White 공식으로 2002년에 발생한 실제 수문사상을 적용하여 하상변동 모의한 결과, 소류사 이송형태의 이류-확산 방정식을 적용한 모의결과가 부유사 이송형태를 적용했을 경우 보다 실제 하상변동에 더 근접한 것으로 나타났다.

  • The effect of the Dirichlet boundary condition for the redistance equation of level set method on the solutionof sloshing problem is investigated by adopting four Dirichlet boundary conditions. For the solution of the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, P1P1 four-step fractional finite element method is employed and a least-square finite element method is used for the solutions of the two hyperbolic type equations of level set method; advection and redistance equation. ALE (Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian) method is used to deal with a moving computational domain. It has been shown that the free surface motion in a sloshing tank is strongly dependent on the type of the Dirichlet boundary condition and the results of broken dam and sloshing problems using various Dirichlet boundary conditions are discussed and compared with the existing experimental results.

  • We present a numerical simulation technique and some preliminary results of the impact and spreading of a droplet containing particles on the solid substrate in 2D. We used the 2nd-order Adams-Bashforth / Crank-Nicholson method to solve the Navier-Stokes equation and employed the level-set method with the continuous surface stress for description of droplet spreading with interfacial tension. The impact velocity has been generated by the instantaneous gravity. The distributed Lagrangian-multipliers method has been combined for the implicit treatment of rigid particles and the discontinuous Galerkin method has been used for the stabilization of the interface advection equation. We investigated the droplet spreading by the inertial force and discussed effects of the presence of particles on the spreading behavior using an example problem. We observed reduced oscillation and spread for the particulate droplet.

2차원 채널유동에서의 액적 변형에 대한 수치해석적 연구 (STUDY ON THE DEFORMATION OF DROPLETS IN A TWO-DIMENSIONAL CHANNEL FLOW)

  • In this study, the two-phase incompressible flow in two-dimensional channel considering the effect of surface tension is simulated using an improved level-set method. Quadratic element is used for solving the continuity and Navier-Stokes equations to avoid using an additional pressure equation, and Crank-Nicholson scheme and linear element are used for solving the advection equation of the level set function. Direct approach method using geometric information is implemented instead of the hyperbolic-type partial differential equation for the reinitializing the level set function. The benchmark test case considers various arrays of defomable droplets under different flow conditions in straight channel. The deformation and migration of the droplets are computed and the results are compared very well with the existing studies.
