황화수소(H2S) 흡착을 위한 금속산화물 기반 흡착제의 활성물질 최적화 및 입상형 흡착제 제조에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Optimization of Active Material and Preparation of Granular Adsorbent of Metal Oxide-based Adsorbent for Adsorption of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S))

  • 본 연구에서는 각종 산업시설에서 발생하는 $H_2S$를 처리하기 위하여 금속산화물 기반의 흡착제의 활성물질 최적화 및 입상형 흡착제 제조에 관한 연구를 진행하였다. 적용되는 흡착제는 금속산화물 중 높은 물리화학적 안정성과 비교적 큰 비표면적을 가지는 $TiO_2$를 이용하여 활성물질의 종류와 함량을 다르게 제조하였다. 이러한 흡착제의 물리화학적 특성과 흡착성능과의 상관관계를 확인한 결과 활성금속 중 대표적인 알칼리 물질인 KI를 첨착한 흡착제의 흡착성능이 가장 우수하였으며, 함량과 흡착성능의 관계는 비례하지 않고 volcano plot을 나타냈다. XRD, SEM, BET 분석을 통해 특정 함량 이상부터 활성물질이 표면에 노출됨을 확인하였으며, 비표면적은 $40{\sim}100m^2/g$, 기공의 부피는 $0.1{\sim}0.3cm^3/g$의 기공 특성을 가질 때 흡착성능이 가장 우수한 것으로 판단하였다. 실 공정 적용을 위해 흡착제를 입상형으로 성형 또는 세라믹 지지체에 코팅을 진행하였으며, 성형보다는 세라믹 지지체에 흡착제를 코팅하였을 때 우수한 흡착성능을 나타내는 것으로 확인하였다.

CO2 흡착제의 전처리 온도에 따른 흡착능 평가 (Adsorption Capacity of CO2 Adsorbent with the Pretreatment Temperature)

  • This study deals with the effect of pretreatment on the $CO_2$ adsorption capacity of zeolitic adsorbents including a commercial A-type zeolite and cation exchanged adsorbents. The pre-heating could change the intrinsic properties such as specific surface area and adsorption capacity of the adsorbent. As a result of the experiment, the moisture previously filled inside might affect the potential adsorption capacity of the adsorbent, and could be disappeared throughout the heat treatment. An optimum pretreatment temperature for the test adsorbent was found to be $400^{\circ}C$, at which temperature enabled more than 90% refreshment. Precise examination through the TPD test showed that the TSA (Temperature Swing Adsorption) process would be desirable in dry adsorption of $CO_2$.

경유오염 농경지의 톱밥 처리효과 (Effect of Sawdust Treatment at Oil Contaminated Soil)

  • 경유로 인한 농작물 피해를 줄이기 위한 방법으로 톱밥처리 효과를 구명하기 위하여 톱밥의 경유 흡착능과 시용 효과를 상탄(上炭(Muck)), 이탄(泥炭(Peat)) 및 PEAT SORB 등과 비교, 검토한 결과, 흡착제 종류별 경유 제거효율은 톱밥과 PEAT SORB가 토탄 및 이탄에 비해 높았다. 톱밥의 경유 제거효율은 경유에 대한 처리 비율이 1:2(w/v)이상일 때 97% 이상으로 높게 나타났으며, 흡착된 경유의 재용출은 거의 없었다. 경유오염 토양에서의 톱밥 처리효과는 분얼기에 $4,000L{\cdot}ha^{-1}$의 경유를 처리하고 흡착제를 처리하지 않은 구에서는 초장과 엽록소 함량이 대조구에 비해 감소한 반면 톱밥 처리구에서는 생육이 좋았다.

흡착포집 및 열탈착/GC 분석에 의한 공기 중 휘발성 유기화합물의 측정방법론 평가 (Evaluation of Methodology for the Measurement of VOCs in the Air by Adsorbent Sampling and Thermal Desorption with GC Analysis)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the performance of a sampling and analytical methodology for the measurement of selected volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the ambient air. VOCs were determined by the adsorbent tube sampling and automatic thermal desorption coupled with GC/FID and GC/MSD analysis. Target analytes were aromatic VOCs, including BTEX, 1,3,5-and 1,2,4,-trimethylbenzenes(TMBs), and naphthalene. The methodology was investigatedwith a wide range of performance criteria such as repeatability, linearity, lower detection limits, collection efficiency, thermal conditioning, breakthrough volume and calibration methods using internal and external standards. standards. Stability of samples collected on adsorbent tubes during storage was also investigated. In addition, the sampling and analytical method developed during this study was applied to real samples duplicately collected in various indoor and outdoor environments. Precisions for the duplicate samples and distributed volume samples appeared to be well comparable with the performance criteria recommended by USEPA TO-17. The audit accuracy was estimated by inter-lab comparison of both duplicate samples and standard materials between the two independent labs. The overall precision and accuracy of the method were estimated to be within 30% for major aromatic VOCs such as BTEX. This study demonstrated that the adsorbent sampling and thermal desorption method can be reliably applied for the measurement of BTEX in ppb levels frequently occurred in common indoor and ambient environments.

파클리탁셀 정제 효율에 미치는 실리카-알루미나 흡착제의 영향 (Effect of Silica-Alumina Adsorbent on the Efficiency of Paclitaxel Purification)

  • 본 연구에서는 분무열분해(spray pyrolysis)에 의해 다양한 혼합비의 다공성 메조기공 실리카-알루미나 흡착제를 제조하여 항암물질 파클리탁셀(paclitaxel)의 정제에 이용하였다. 흡착제 처리와 헥산 침전을 수행한 결과, $S_{0.5}A_{0.5}$ (Si/Al 몰비 = 0.5/0.5)을 사용하였을 때 가장 높은 순도 (~27%)와 수율 (~63%)의 파클리탁셀을 얻을 수 있었다. 이러한 불순물(타르 및 왁스 성분 포함) 제거 효과는 흡착제에 붙은 유기물의 TGA 정량 분석 결과로도 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구진이 개발한 적니응집제를 제조하는 과정에서 발생하는 침출슬러지를 재활용하여 중금속이온 제거용 흡착제를 제조하였다. 침출슬러지 10 g에 kaolin 1 g, sodium silicate solution 2 g을 혼합하여 펠�� 형태로 성형한 후 $600^{\circ}C$에서 2시간 동안 열처리하여 흡착제를 제조하였다. 회분식 흡착실험을 한 결과, 본 연구에서 제조된 흡착제는 $Pb^{2+}$ 이온에 대하여 우수한 흡착성능을 가졌다.

Removal of methylene blue using lemon grass ash as an adsorbent

  • Wastewater from textile industries is a major cause of water pollution in most developing countries. In order to address the issues of water pollution and high cost for treatment processes, the use of an inexpensive and environmentally benign adsorbents has been studied. The objective was to find a better alternative to the conventional methods. Lemon grass waste (ash) collected from a lemon grass stream distillation subunit in Bhutan was tested for dye removal from aqueous solutions. The study investigated the removal of methylene blue using the following operational parameters: initial concentration (100-600 mg/L), contact time, adsorbent dose (0.1-0.55 gm/100 mL), and pH (3-10). It was found that the percentage removal of dye increased with a decrease of the initial concentration and increased contact time and dose of adsorbent. The basic pH solution of dye showed better adsorption capacity as compared to the acidic dye solution. Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms were fitted to the data well. Data fitted better to Lagergren pseudo 2nd order kinetics than a 1st order kinetic model. Surface morphology was also examined via scanning electron microscopy. An elemental analysis was also carried out and the chemical composition and functional groups were analyzed using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy techniques, respectively. The obtained results indicate that lemon grass ash could be employed as a low cost alternative to commercial activated carbon in wastewater treatment for the removal of dyes.

Identification of Volatile Organic Compounds in Several Indoor Public Places in Korea

  • A comprehensive profile of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in public spaces is needed for interpreting indoor air measurements. Seasonal differences in profiles are critical for epidemiological study and risk assessment. The purposes of this study were to establish profiles for individual VOCs in 50 indoor public places in Korea and to determine seasonal variations in their concentrations. Air samples were taken during working hours. Seventy-two of the 91 targeted VOCs were identified using multiple standards. Six VOCs detected in all summer and winter samples were toluene, acetone, m,p-xylenes, ethylbenzene, benzene, and styrene. In summer, methyl ethyl ketone and 1-butanol were also found in all samples. In both seasons, the dominant indoor VOCs were toluene, m,p-xylenes, ethylbenzene, acetone, and isopropyl alcohol. Other chemicals associated with gasoline emissions were dominant in summer. Limonene was dominant only in winter due to the consumption of tangerines. The nine VOCs with the highest concentrations comprised 64.8% and 49.6% of the TVOC in summer and winter, respectively. Comparing two types of adsorbent tube, a single adsorbent tube with Tenax-TA had similar detection performance as a double adsorbent tube with Tenax and Carbotrap.

  • For trying to frontal attack of new solution by fusion of technical tasks and conditions with it's solving methods of the essential tasks of marine resource development and environmental conservation in addition with elements of electronic high-technologies, the skimmer robot was proposed by using of oil spill disaster prevention and its disposal system with sequentially circular collection type of magnetic oil spill adsorbent powder and fabrics on the electronic barge robot for the scheme of sustainable development of environment-friendly technology. It was verified from the experiment of electronic barge robot demonstrator that the skimmer system of magnetic oil spill adsorbent powder and fabrics was very effective and useful technique to collect oil spill samples. At this point, the barge-based electronic remote control was very useful system operating easily on the marine fields to skim oil spill with dangerous toxic substances of crude oil and very harmful to human. Therefore, fusion technology proposed in this study combined with electronic and marine technology is the novel contributable technology for developing marine environmental conservation and environment-friendly disaster prevention, and also its management techniques.

Efficacy and Reusability of Commercial Adsorbent for Isolation of Proanthocyanidins from Hot Water Extract of Pinus radiata Bark

  • This study was carried out to investigate the feasibility and usefulness of a commercial synthetic adsorbent, Diaion HP 20, for the isolation of proanthocyanidins (PAs) from hot water extract (HWE) prepared from Pinus radiata bark. Most ultraviolet (UV) absorbing materials in HWE were adsorbed onto Diaion HP 20 and easily recovered by simple ethanol (EtOH) washing. More than 50% of the UV absorbing materials were adsorbed within 20 minutes, and the adsorption equilibrium was reached within 3 h. The recovered materials from Diaion HP 20 were mostly composed of PAs, but some monomeric flavonoids such as taxifolin and unidentified hydrophobic materials were also adsorbed. The impurities such as carbohydrates and inorganic materials contained in HWE were mostly removed by Diaion HP 20. The adsorption ability of the UV absorbing materials onto Diaion HP 20 was almost the same as the first cycle even after 14 times of repeating cycles of adsorption and desorption. The radical scavenging ability of the recovered materials from the adsorbent was slightly higher than that of the pure PAs prepared by Sephadex LH 20 from the same HWE.
