Measuring RFID Adoption Factors with Cognitive Styles : A Preliminary Examination of Consumers' Perceptions

  • The Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID), once used widely, is expected to provide improved convenience in our everyday life. Crude observations of RFID consumption show that there is a wide variation in the adoption of this technology across different individuals. One plausible explanation is that consumers with challenging mind who seek for new technologies and have a good grasp of the new RFID technology should have higher propensity to use the technology. A better understanding of such acceptance pattern of RFID is of high importance in establishing technology providers' marketing strategies. This study is aimed to explain differences in the level of RFID acceptance focusing on cognitive styles of potential RFID users. By presenting potential RFID users' discriminative propensity toward RFID technology, this study hopes to provide guidelines for the design of service strategies that facilitate consumers' acceptance of RFID.

한국기업의 EDI 채택요인에 관한 연구 (Research on Factors Influencing Adoption of EDI in Korean Companies)

  • This study is to establish the validity of EDI adoption model Korean Companies. The research model is hypothesized in the external factors of company directly affect on EDI adoaption and the internal factors of company moderately affect on the direct effect. The external factors of company consists of economic factors, organizational power factors, and technological factor. The internal factors of company consists of the size of the company, innovative tendency of the top management, and maturity of the information technology. In the result of data analysis-the data were collected from a total of 81 companies in 6 industries adopted variables are the existence of EDI standard, transaction frequency, inter-organizational bargaining power, and pressure from industry association. Also size of the company and innovative tendency of the top management in a company's internal factors were adopted as moderate variables.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 RFID의 도입 성과에 영향을 미치는 요인과 조직의 혁신성의 조절효과를 분석하는 연구모형과 가설을 제시하는데 있다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 RFID에 관한 이론적 배경을 바탕으로 RFID 성과에 영향을 미치는 요인을 기술적 특성에는 표준화, 지각된 보안, 지각된 비용, 조직적 특성에는 최고경영층의 지원, 재정적 지원, 기술적 지원, 환경적 특성에는 모방적 압력, 강제적 압력, 규범적 압력으로 설정하였고, RFID는 BSC 성과를 이용하여 재무성과, 프로세스성과, 학습/성장성과, 고객성과로 설정하였다. 그리고 조직의 혁신성을 이용하여 혁신적인 조직은 RFID 도입요인과 도입 성과에 어떠한 영향을 주는지에 대한 연구모형을 설정하였다. 향후 연구에서는 이러한 연구모형과 가설에 대한 실증분석이 요구된다.

물류기업의 RFID 도입 요인과 물류성과의 관계 연구 (A Study on RFID Adoption and Logistics Performance in Logistics Company)

  • 물류분야에서 RFID 기술의 응용이 확산되면서 RFID 도입 요인과 물류성과와의 관계를 분석할 필요가 있다. 기존 여러 분야의 선행연구를 통하여 RFID 도입이나 채택에 영향을 미치는 요인을 도출하고, 물류기업을 대상으로 이러한 요인이 물류성과에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하고, 그에 대한 시사점을 제시하고자 하였다. 관련 선행연구에서 물류기업이 RFID를 도입하는데 있어 CEO 지원, 기술 우위성, 거래 파트너, 상호 양립성 및 상대적 이익과 같은 요인이 물류성과에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. SCM, 물류 및 유통, 제조분야를 대상으로 한 선행연구를 기초로 연구모형 및 가설을 설정하고, 물류기업 종사자를 대상으로 RFID 도입 요인이 물류성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 탐색적 요인분석, 신뢰성 분석, 확인적 요인분석 및 구조방정식모형 분석을 통해 가설을 검증하였다. 연구 결과, CEO 지원과 거래 파트너의 RFID 도입 요인은 물류성과에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤으며, 상호 양립성과 상대적 이익은 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 기술 우위성은 물류성과에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났으나 p=0.052라는 것을 고려할 때, 물류성과에 유의한 영향을 미칠 수 있을 것으로 사료되며, 유의수준 0.1에서는 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

냉장고 수축팽창 소음원의 규명과 저감 방법 (Identification and Reduction Method for Refrigerator Contraction and Expansion Noise)

  • The contraction and expansion noise of a refrigerator are investigated, and some effective methods are proposed to reduce the level and occurrence frequency of noise. First, the noise of a refrigerator is measured to estimate the frequency spectrum and occurrence frequency of noise. Second, a sound visualization was conducted using an acoustic camera to determine the location of the noise source. From the results, it was observed that the internal part mainly producing noise was the third shelf in the freezer room. A method to estimate the acceleration on the location of the noise source is introduced to analyze the contraction and expansion noise precisely and accommodate experimental convenience. Noise reduction methods such as the replacement of the existing shelf with glass shelves, adoption of rail slides, and increase of roughness on the contact surface of the shelf are proposed and tested.

A Study on the Analysis and Identification of Seafarers' Skill-Rule-Knowledge Inherent in Maritime Accidents

  • The purpose of this study is to classify the deficient abilities of seafarers into SRK (Skill, Rule, and Knowledge) and analyze and identify the SRK by the type of accident and ship. Experimental data used the SRK cumulative frequency for 1,606 marine accident records and two-way ANOVA and t-test were used for the analysis tools. The results of two-way ANOVA showed that it is possible to identify the deficient abilities by using the cumulative frequency of SRK in both accident and ship types. As a result of the t-test, the adoption of the null hypothesis (H=0) that the mean of two pairs is equal and the rejection of the null hypothesis (H=1) were 29.2 % and 70.8 %, respectively. For the ship type, H=0 is 33.3 % and H=1 is 66.7 %. Through this study, it was found that about 70 % of the deficient abilities of seafarers inherent in maritime accidents can be identified using the proposed method.

  • This paper describes the application of sliding mode control based on the variable structure control(VSC) concept for high-performance position control of an induction servo motor A design method based on external load parameters has been developed for the robust control of AC induction servo drive. Also, a slip frequency vector control with software current control technique has been adopted to achieve fast response of an induction motor drive The position control scheme is comprised of a variable structure controller and slip frequency vector control for inverter fed induction servo motor. Simulated results are given to verify the proposed design method by adoption of sliding mode and show robust control for a change of shaft inertia, viscous friction and torque disturbance.

Parallel damage detection through finite frequency changes on multicore processors

  • This manuscript deals with a novel approach aimed at identifying multiple damaged sites in structural components through finite frequency changes. Natural frequencies, meant as a privileged set of modal data, are adopted along with a numerical model of the system. The adoption of finite changes efficiently allows challenging characteristic problems encountered in damage detection techniques such as unexpected comparison of possible shifted modes and the significance of modal data changes very often affected by experimental/environmental noise. The new procedure extends MDLAC and exploits parallel computing on modern multicore processors. Smart filters, aimed at reducing the potential damaged sites, are implemented in order to reduce the computational effort. Several use cases are presented in order to illustrate the potentiality of the new damage detection procedure.

  • The electric arc welding machine with high-frequency inverter is studied in this paper which could make more saving in energy than conventional ones with inherent low efficiency. The inverter circuit has been already adopted to special welding machines such as MIG and TIG for improving operating performances so much. But this adoption has not be applied to conventional ac arc welding machine until now. The proposed technology for higher efficiency is to apply the high frequency inverter, together with noise-cut transformer. Overall output characteristics are investigated in aspect of cost and circuit performance. The proposed system is conducted practical experiments using PWM controller.

  • An inverter-driven induction motor is used as the traction motor for a high speed drive system that required safety, reliabillity, performance, compact size owing to the space and weight alloted for attaching to train, etc. particularly it is possible to happen the saturation effects of flux density at constant voltage-frequency region and then increase very higher than the at lowed capacity of no-load current and temperature in any case. therefore the optimum design of core, optimum voltage-frequency ratio, adoption of high grade magnetic core have been developed and researched for preventing these problems. this paper show the saturation effects of traction rotor by measuring the induced voltage of search coil at stator teeth and presents optimum voltage-frequency ratio as well as optimum core design through the comparison with efficiency, power factor, load current and no-load current for korea high speed train.
