  • Objective: Recently, Korean adolescent has the problems of nutrition unbalance due to bad eating habits. Also, single-parent and step-parent families have consistently increased because of the increase of divorce rates. Adolescent who lives with a single or step family tends to have unhealthy behaviors and habits. The purpose of this study was to analyze relationship between family structure and irregular breakfast among Korean adolescent. Method: We analyzed 60,040 participants from Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey 2018. Study variables included family structure and irregular breakfast. Control variables were sex, school, economic status, parent education levels, drinking, smoking and nutrition education. In terms of this study, descriptive, Chi-square and multivariate logistic regression analysis were performed. Results: After adjusting for socio-demographic variables among boys, family structure was associated with irregular breakfast (living with both parents reference group vs living with single-parent : OR 1.250, 95% CI: 1.142, 1.368). Among girls, after adjusting for control variables, family structure was also associated with irregular breakfast (living with both parents reference group vs living with no both parents : OR 1.409, 95% CI: 1.065, 1.865). Conclusion: According to this study, family structure would be a risk factor of adolescent breakfast habit. Nutrition programs for adolescent should consider these factors.

  • Herein, we present a compact transversal bandpass filter (BPF) with an extremely wide upper stopband and multiple transmission zeros (TZ). Three signal transmission paths with shorted stubs and open-coupled lines allow signal transmission from input port to output port. Two resonant modes can be excited simultaneously and managed easily for bandpass response. Eleven TZs are achieved via transmission path cancelation; an extremely wide upper stopband with an attenuation level better than -12 dB is achieved up to 11.7 f0, where f0 is the center frequency (CF). In addition, bandwidth and CF can be controlled by adjusting electrical lengths. For proof of concept, a wideband BPF centered at 1.04 GHz with 3 dB fractional bandwidths of 49.2% was designed, fabricated, and evaluated. The overall circuit measures 0.045λg × 0.117λg; good agreement was observed between the measured and simulated results.

  • Purpose: Investigating the prevalence of hyperuricemia and its association with metabolic syndrome (MetS) and cardiometabolic risk factors (CMRFs) in Korean children and adolescents. Methods: This cross-sectional survey used data from the 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2016-2017); 1,256 males and females aged 10-18 years were included. Hyperuricemia was defined as serum uric acid levels were >6.6 mg/dL at 10-11 years of age (both sexes), >7.7 mg/dL for males at 12-18 years of age and >5.7 mg/dL for females at 12-18 years of age. MetS was defined by the International Diabetes Federation criteria. Logistic regression analysis was used to analyze hyperuricemia-associated risk factors. Results: The prevalence of hyperuricemia was 9.4% (male, 8.4%; female, 10.5%) (P<0.281). After adjusting for sociodemographic factors and health behaviors in multivariate analysis (model 1), the odds ratio (OR) for hyperuricemia of MetS was 3.05 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1.17-7.92; P=0.022). After adjusting for the same variables in model 1 plus obesity and all MetS components (model 2), only abdominal obesity was significant, and the OR for hyperuricemia was 3.38 (95% CI, 1.72-6.63; P<0.001) After adjusting for the same variables in model 1 plus body mass index (BMI) z scores and all MetS components except abdominal obesity (model 3), only BMI z scores was significant, and the OR for hyperuricemia was 1.59 (95% CI, 1.34-1.89; P<0.001). Conclusion: MetS, abdominal obesity, and BMI z scores were CMRFs significantly associated with hyperuricemia in Korean children and adolescents. Therefore, attention should be paid to hyperuricemia in patients with obesity or MetS.

  • The study reported a phenomenological analysis of the interviews with 19 mothers who had a child preparing a college entrance examination. The research question was what mothers experienced in supporting their child in his/her study for the examination. Results indicated that 'the senior year in a highschool' was described as the most stressful period affecting all the family members. Mothers' experiences were portrayed from three perspectives: mothers, as family members, experiencing the attachment to her child but conflicts with her husband; mothers, as individuals, adjusting by trying to setting realistic academic goals for her child while supporting him/her physically, emotionally, and spiritually; and mothers, as critics to extrafamily systems, blaming the inconsistency of educational policies. 1bis study was conducted with a holistic view, and highlighted the importance of interactions between traditional ideology about the mother roles and socioeconomic contexts when interpreting mothers' supporting their child in study for a college entrance examination.

  • In this study, the ultrasonic irradiation in elevated pressure was used to alter the molecular weight and MWD of polystyrene. The high pressure reactor was filled with 0.5w/v% polystyrene solution, and then it was pressurized from 500psi to 4000psi. The ultrasound was irradiated in 10 minutes at each pressure, and the extract was collected and analyzed by GPC. Molecular weight distribution was predicted by log-normal and Schulz distribution function. The average molecular weight and polydispersity of polystyrene were decreased, as the pressure applied during the ultrasonic irradiation was increase. It was able to fractionate polymer material and control polydispersity by adjusting pressure in the ultrasonic irradiation.

  • Poloxamer, block copolymers of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide was crosslinked by diisocyanates and triisocyanates to form water-swellable, physically strong, rubber-like elastic, high biocompatible polyurethanes. The isocyanate-hydroxyl stoichiometry was kept 1:1, but the crosslinking density was varied. The variations examined were the ratio of diisocyanate and triisocyanate. The delivery of two drugs of different water solubilities from hydrogel matrices was studied. It appeared that the drug nature greatly influenced its release kinetics possibly due to drug-polymer interactions. The release profiles, however, could be modified to a great extent by adjusting the polymer network structure Generally the high crosslinking density was required for prolonged drug delivery.

Therefore, through this study, it has produced the dynamic kidney phantom to reproduce images through the dynamic flow of the kidney, it desires to evaluate the usefulness of nuclear medicine imaging. The production of the kidney phantom was fabricated based on the normal adult kidney, in order to reproduce the dynamic situation based on the fabricated kidney phantom, in this study it was applied the volume pump that can adjust the speed of blood flow, so it can be integrated continuously radioactive isotopes in the kidney by using 99mTc-pertechnate. Used the radioactive isotope was supplied through the two pump. It was confirmed the changes according to the infusion rate, radioactive isotopes and the different injection speeds on the left and right, analysis of the acquired images was done by drawn five times ROI in order to check the reproducibility of each on the front and rear of the kidney and bladder. Depending on the speed of injection, radioisotope was a lot of integrated and emissions up when adjusting the pressure of the pump as 30 stroke, it was the least integrated and emissions up when adjusting as 40 stroke. The integration of the left & right kidney was not reached in the amount of the highest when adjusting as 10 stroke. In the changes according to the amount of the radioactive isotope, 0.6 mCi(22.2 MBq), 0.8 mCi (29.6 MBq)was showed up similar tendency but, in the result of the injection 0.8 mCi, it was showed up counts close to double of 0.6 mCi. In the result of the differently injection speed of the left & right kidney, as a result of different conditions that injection speed was 20 stroke through left kidney phantom, the injection speed was 30 stroke through right kidney phantom, it was enough difference in the resulting image can be easily distinguished with the naked eye. Through this study, the results showed that the dynamic kidney phantom system is able to similarly reproduce renogram in the actual clinical. Especially, the depicted over time for the flow to be excreted through the kidney into the bladder was adequately reproduce, it is expected to be utilized as basic data to check the quality of the dynamic images.
