깊은 굴착에서 근접시공에 따른 구조물 피해사례 연구 (Case Study of Structure Damage due to Adjacent Deep Excavation)

  • Deep excavation,1 in the urban areas may cause terrible damages to the adjacent structures. Most damages are due to the settlement of ground during excavation work. This article introduces two actual examples of structure damage in subway construction projects. A through of attempts to find out the factors that are affecting to the settlement of ground was made through site investigations and analyses of measurement data. Some suggestions are given to prevent the repeat of trial and error in deep excavation projects. This kind of attempts are eccentrical to the development and improvement of information-oriented construction method.

  • The study on the lateral earth pressure is briskly preformed for various conditions such as type of retaining walls, ground condition, and type of supporting systems. It is not simple to determine the distribution of lateral earth pressure accurately, however, because the lateral earth pressure is affected by various factors. This study is performed to analyze the behavior of earth retaining walls for new excavation contacting with existing excavation by comparing with the site measuring values before and after new excavation. On the base of observation, the distribution of strut axial forces is similar to that of ganeral earth retaining walls, but strut axial forces is increased by removal of existing earth anchors. When new excavation is performed contacting with existing excavation, the axial force of strut is decreased because of soil exclusion in the behind walls, but that force is increased after new exeavation. The analysis result show that the installation of strut in middle part makes a effect to not only 1 adjacent strut, but 3-5 adjacent struts. Also during new excavation strut axial forces is decreased by relaxation of total earth retaining wall system.

  • 최근 건축공사가 활성화됨에 따라 기존 구조물과의 근접한 공사 그리고 인접 굴착공사와 병행하여 굴착공사가 진행되는 환경이 증가하고 있지만 이에 대한 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 두 개의 굴착 흙막이 구조물에 대해 기존 굴착 흙막이 구조물과 후속 굴착 흙막이 구조물 간의 상호작용 분석을 위해 수치해석을 수행하였다. 수치해석 분석결과 선행 굴착으로 인해 작용하는 지보재의 하중을 고려하지 않는 경우 구조물에 발생하는 변위는 과소평가 될 수 있는 것으로 분석되었고, 지보재에 작용하는 응력은 과하게 평가되어 실제 지반의 거동을 모사하기 위해서는 선행굴착으로 인해 발생하는 지보재 응력을 고려해야 하는 것으로 분석되었다.

  • 분기기 궤도구조는 매우 복잡한 구조와 다양한 구성품으로 구성되어 일반 궤도보다 유지관리가 어렵고 보다 상세한 관리기준이 필요한 철도시설물이다. 본 연구의 목적은 공용중인 도시철도 선로와 인접한 굴착공사에 따른 지상부 분기기 궤도구조의 변형에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 인접굴착 시공단계별 수치해석을 바탕으로 지상구간에 부설된 분기기 궤도선형을 고려한 주요위치별 궤도변형을 분석하였으며 이를 궤도틀림 기준과 비교하여 안전성을 확인하였다. 분석결과, 지상 분기기 궤도변형에 영향을 미치는 주요 시공단계는 굴착 최종 단계로 나타났으며, 면(고저)틀림인 연직변위가 상대적으로 크게 발생하였으나, 전체적으로는 수평방향의 변형이 지배적인 것으로 분석되었다. 이는 굴착 현장이 분기기 측면에 위치하는 측방굴착의 영향인 것으로 판단된다. 또한 분기기 주요위치별 변형량이 상이하고 굴착현장과의 이격거리에 따른 위치별 궤도변형의 편차가 발생하여 평면성틀림이 발생될 소지가 있을 것으로 분석되었다. 따라서 현재 발생된 궤도틀림을 바탕으로 인접굴착에 따른 추가적인 변위를 포함한 실 운행선 분기기 궤도구조의 궤도변형을 주요변형 특성이 발생되는 위치별로 중요도를 구분하여 별도의 관리가 필요한 것으로 분석되었다.

Experimental investigation of earth pressure on retaining wall and ground settlement subjected to tunneling in confined space

  • To study the influences of tunneling on the earth pressure and ground settlement when the tunnel passes through the adjacent underground retaining structure, 30 two-dimensional model tests were carried out taking into account the ratios of tunnel excavation depth (H) to lateral width (w), excavation width (B), and excavation distance using a custom-made test device and an analogical soil. Tunnel crossing adjacent existing retaining structure (TCE) and tunnel crossing adjacent newly-built retaining structure (TCN) were simulated and the earth pressure variations and ground settlement distribution during excavation were analyzed. For TCE condition, the earth pressure increments, maximum ground settlement and the curvature of the ground settlement curve are negatively related to H/B, but positively related to H/s and H/w. For TCN condition, most trends are consistent with TCE except that the earth pressure increments and the curvature of ground settlement curve are negatively related to H/w. The maximum ground settlement is larger than that observed in tunnel crossing the existing underground structure. This study provides an assessment basis for the design and construction under confined space conditions.

지하철 굴착공사에 따른 인접지반의 침하 해석 (Analysis of Peripheral Surface Settlement during Subway Excavation)

  • In this study, the influence of groundwater variation and surface settlement adjacent to the excavation site of subway station on $\bigcirc$$\bigcirc$ Gas station and the $\bigcirc$$\bigcirc$ building is analized. Measurement data of surface settlement, horizontal deformation and groundwater level are used to verify the results of Caspe analytical method and FLAC numerical analysis. Variation of groundwater level adjacent to the excavation site is modelled by the 3-D groundwater flow program, MODFLOW. The results of both the analytical method and the numerical method were quite close to the measurement data of surface settlement.

  • This report describes aspects of recent braced excavation constructed in built up areas where adjacent buildings or underground utilities are likely to be subjected to settlement and damages. Trends and choice of earth retaining structures for deep excavation are present, and some desigen and construction techniques are introduced in order to minimise possible adverse effects to the urban environment. Some problems in design and construction of braced excavation in urban area are closely examined and remedial measrures are proposed.

Investigation of three-dimensional deformation mechanisms of box culvert due to adjacent deep basement excavation in clays

  • In this study, a series of three-dimensional numerical parametric study was conducted to investigate deformation mechanisms of an existing box culvert due to an adjacent multi-propped basement excavation in clays. Field measurements from an excavation case history are first used to calibrate a baseline Hardening Soil Small Strain (HS-small) model, which is subsequently adopted for parametric study. Results indicate that the basement-box culvert interaction along the basement centerline can be considered as a plane strain condition when the length of excavation (L) reaches 14 He (i.e., final excavation depth). If a plane strain condition (i.e., L/He=12.0) is assumed for analyzing the basement-box culvert interaction of a short excavation (i.e., L/He=2.0), the maximum settlement and horizontal movement of the box culvert are overestimated significantly by up to 15.7 and 5.1 times, respectively. It is also found that the deformation of box culvert can be greatly affected by the basement excavation if the distance between the box culvert and retaining wall is less than 1.5 He. The induced deformation in the box culvert can be dramatically reduced by improving the ground inside the excavation or implementing other precautionary measures. For example, by adding jet grouting columns within the basement and installing an isolation wall behind the retaining structures, the maximum settlements of box culvert are shown to reduce by 37.2% and 13.4%, respectively.

도심지 깊은 굴착으로 발생하는 인접 지반 지표침하 분석 (Analysis of Perimetrical Ground Settlement Behavior for Deep Excavations in Urban Areas)

  • 풍화토 및 모래질 충적토가 암반위에 쌓인 형태로 구성된 국내 수도권 도심 지역에서, 깊은 굴착 공사로 인하여 발생하는 인접 지표의 침하에 대해 현장 측정을 중심으로 연구를 수행하였다. 먼저, 토류벽 설치, 중간 말뚝 설치 등 본격적인 굴토 공사가 진행되기 이전의 공정으로 인한 인접 지표침하량, 침하 영향거리 등을 측정, 분석하였으며 다음으로, 본격적인 굴토로 인하여 발생하는 인접 지표의 침하에 대해 침하량, 침하 영향거리 등을 측정, 분석하고 균질한 사질토 지반이나 단단한 점토 지반에 대해 기존에 제시된 연구 결과와 비교하였다. 또한 굴착 공사시 과도한 변형으로 인하여 인접 지표 및 구조물에 균열 등의 피해가 발생한 7개 현장 사례를 통하여 굴착 공사로 인한 인접 지표의 균열 발생 범위에 대하여 분석하였다.
