  • Miniature inertance pulse tube refrigerator was designed and fabricated to provide optimal performance with 10W compressor. An adiabatic model was used to design an inertance pulse tube refrigerator. Among the various design parameters which should be optimized, pulse tube length and inertance tube length were considered. PdV work and various losses were calculated for various pulse tube and inertance tube length. Experiments were carried out for different pulse tube length and inertance tube length. It was shown that the experimental results were similar to the calculated results. The reason why the quantitative optimal point exists is explained.

  • We have implemented the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) into the cosmological N-body simulation code. The pre-initial particle distribution is set to follow the glacial conditions and the initial temperature of hydro particles is calculated based on the adiabatic process in the expanding backgrounds. Typical adiabatic SPH equations are adopted and, additionally, non-adiabatic processes such as heating/cooling and supernova explosion are added. We study the effect of star formation criteria on the global star formation rate and compare it with the observations.

  • Low frequency sound propagation in a range-dependent shallow water environment of the Korea Strait has been studied by using the adiabatic coupled mode, ADIAB. The range-dependent environment is unique in terms of horizontal variations of sound velocity profiles, sediment thickness and attenuation coefficients and water depths. For shallow source and receiver depths, the most important mechanism involved in the propagation loss is the depth changing character of mode functions that strongly depends on the local sound velocity profile. Application of the adiabatic coupled mode theory to shallow water environment is reasonable when higher modes are attenuated due to bottom interaction effects. • This study is investigated numerically on the heat transfer characteristics of surface radiation-natural convection interactions in a two dimensional enclosure assumed Ondol cavity. Mean Nusselt number of the bottom surface with surface radiation is increased by increasing wall emissivity and by decreasing dimensionless thickness of adiabatic wall. and is greater than that without radiation. Mean Nusselt number of the bottom surface for convection only with surface radiation is slightly smaller than that without surface radiation with decrease dimensionless thickness of adiabatic wall.

  • A Finkelstein adiabatic analysis is performed for Stirling refrigerator with real gas properties of helium. The mass balance and the energy balance equations are formulated into the form that is convenient for incorporating an available computer code of the helium properties. The differential equations are solved numerically. The calculated coefficient of performance(COP) and the pressure variation are compared with the results obtained when helium is assumed to be an ideal gas. The relative errors in COP are presented as functions of the refrigeration temperature and the maximum cycle pressure.

  • This study was carried out to examine application of surface adiabatic curing method in slightly cold weathering period. So, early aged freezing damage and compressive strength of concrete were examined through temperature analysis of construction concrete. Temperature analysis was carried out according to the average temperature, concrete placement completion time and surface adiabatic curing method. Analysis results show that additional curing plans are demanded in concrete construction below 0$^{circ}C$, surface adiabatic curing method is could apply in the average temperature more than -2$^{circ}C$ and curing method as heating are needed under -2$^{circ}C$.

  • Time-dependent formulations of the reactive scattering theory based on the wavepacket correlation functions with the M${\phi}$ller wavepackets for the electronically nonadiabatic reactions are presented. The calculations of state-to-state reactive probabilities for the quasi-Jahn-Teller scattering model system were performed. The conical intersection (CI) effects are investigated by comparing the results of the two-surface nonadiabatic calculations and the single surface adiabatic approximation. It was found that the results of the two-surface nonadiabatic calculations show interesting features in the reaction probability due to the conical intersection. Single surface adiabatic calculations with extended Born-Oppenheimer approximation using simple wavepacket phase factor was found to be able to reproduce the CI effect semi-quantitatively, while the single surface calculations with the usual adiabatic approximation cannot describe the scattering process for the Jahn-Teller model correctly.

  • Steady laminar natural convection heat transfer from an isothermal square beam with adiabatic wall has been studied for various inclination angles of the wall and Rayleigh numbers by using Mach-Zehnder Interferometer in air. The different temperature and fluid fields were obtained as the inclination angle changes showing the effects of the ascending heated fluid and the adiabatic wall. The maximum total mean Nusselt number was found at ${\theta}=45^{\circ}$.

  • In this study, in regard to concrete considering variety of admixture content rate, we evaluated property of adiabatic temperature rise. By setting up high temperature history, we evaluated effect to compression strength property of high strength concrete by early high temperature history. As a result, early high temperature history accelerated Hydration reaction of cement and contribute early strength development but it didn't accomplish performance objective in long-term aged.

  • This study reviews dynamic deformation behavior of ultra-fine-grained Al alloys, ultra-fine-grained conventional low carbon steel and dual phase steel and Zr-based amorphous alloys. Dynamic tests were conducted using a Kolsky bar then the test data was analyzed in relation to resultant microstructures, mechanical properties and propensity of adiabatic shear band. In addition, deformed microstructures and fracture surfaces were used to investigate the behavior of both the dynamic deformation and fracture, and adiabatic shear banding. As a result, increasing microstructural homogeneity, strain hardenability and forming multiple shear bands could be a better way to increase the fracture resistance under dynamic loading as the formation of adiabatic shear bands was reduced or prevented.
