단면 겹치기 이음 시험에 의한 경량구조물용 접착 이음강도의 평가 (Strength Evaluation of Adhesive Bonded Joint for Light Weight Structure by Single-Lab Joint Test)

  • The bonding strength evaluation of light weight materials for electrical vehicle applications has been performed through single lap joint tests in which the design parameters such as fillet, joint style, adherend, bonding overlap length,bonding thickness, and environmental condition(soaking time in $25^{\circ}C$ water) are considered. It is experimentally oberved that lap shear strength of joint increases for higher fillet height, longer overlap length, and thinner bonding layer thickness. Al-Al adherend combination shows much higher lap shear strength than AL-FRP and FRP-FRP adherend combinations. Riveting at adhesive bonded joint of AL-AL adherend combination makes lap shear strength decrease. Effect of soaking time on lap shear strength is negligible.

Theoretical and experimental modal responses of adhesive bonded T-joints

  • The modal frequency responses of adhesive bonded T-joint structure have been analyzed numerically and verified with own experimental data. For this purpose, the damped free frequencies of the bonded joint have been computed using a three-dimensional finite element model via ANSYS parametric design language (APDL) code. The practical relevance of the joint structure analysis has been established by comparing the simulation data with the in-house experimental values. Additionally, the influences of various geometrical and material parameters on the damped free frequency responses of the joint structure have been investigated and final inferences discussed in details. It is observed that the natural frequency values increase for the higher aspect ratios of the joint structure. Also, the joint made up of Glass fiber/epoxy with quasi-isotropic fiber orientation indicates more resistance towards free vibration.

  • 섬유강화 복합재료는 적층각도와 적층순서에 따라 이방성을 가지기 때문에, 복합재료가 튜브형 접합부의 피접착체로 사용될 경우 지금까지 많이 수행된 등방성 피접착체를 가지는 접합부에 대한 해석을 통하여 복합재료 접합부의 거동을 예측하는 것은 한계가 있다. 본 연구에서는 접착제의 비선형 거동을 고려하여 복합재료 피접착체를 가지는 튜브형 접합부에 대한 비선형 해석을 수행하였다. 먼저 적층 복합재료 튜브에 대한 해석을 수행하였고, 이를 바탕으로 튜브형 접합부에 대한 비선형 방정식을 유도하였으며, 접착층의 응력 분포 및 접합부의 토크전달능력을 계산하였다. 복합재료 튜브의 적층순서와 접착길이가 접착층의 응력 분포 및 토크전달능력에 어떤 영향을 미치는 지 살펴보았으며, 또한 비선형 해석과 선형해석의 차이점을 비교하고 분석하였다.

Ply-lam CLT의 합판 접합방식에 따른 휨 성능 평가 (Evaluation of Flexural Performance According to the Plywood Bonding Method of Ply-Lam CLT)

  • 본 연구에서는 층재 수종과 길이방향의 합판 접합방식과 접합부의 접착제 도포 여부에 따른 휨 성능 및 파괴 양상 분석을 통하여 합판을 코어로 사용한 CLT에 적합한 합판의 접합 방식을 최적화 하고자 하였다. 더글라스 퍼 층재의 경우 길이방향 접합에 의해 휨탄성계수 약 11.5% 감소, 휨강도는 접착제 도포 및 접합방식에 따라 증가 또는 감소하였다. 접착제 미도포 butt joint, 접착제 도포 half lap joint, butt joint 조건이 최적조건으로 도출 되었다. 낙엽송 층재의 경우 길이방향 접합에 의해 휨강도는 약 15%, 휨탄성계수는 약 40% 감소하였으며 접합방식에 따른 차이를 나타내지 않았다. half lab joint와 tongue & groove joint 사용 시 합판 층의 접합부에서 휨에 파괴를 1차적으로 방지해줌으로써 중층의 층재로 전달되는 하중을 감소시켜 주는 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 Ply-lam CLT 제조과정에서 낙엽송 층재를 사용하는 경우 접합방법에 따른 차이를 나타내지 않았으며 더글라스퍼 층재를 사용할 경우 butt joint와 half lap 접합 방식이 적합할 것으로 판단된다.

  • The co-cured Joining method, which is regarded as an adhesively bonded Joining method, is an efficient joining technique because both curing and bonding processes for the composite structures can be achieved simultaneously. It requires neither surface treatment onto the composite adherend nor an additional adhesive joining process because the excess resin, which is extracted from composite materials during consolidation, accomplishes the co-cured Joining process. Since the adhesive of the co-cured joint is the same material as the resin of the composite adherend, the analysis and design of the co-cured joint for composite structures are simpler than those of an adhesively bonded joint, which uses an additional adhesive. In this paper, effects of the manufacturing parameters, namely surface roughness, stacking sequence of the composite adherend, and manufacturing pressure in the autoclave during curing process, on the tensile load bearing capacity of the co-cured single lap joint will be experimentally investigated.

  • We ensure a flat and regular basic surface by using part of joint waterproofing improved sheet method applying the upper slab of a concrete structure. We solve the problem of getting loose scale the general sheet by waterproofing of the sheet and improving adhesive strength of the basic concrete. Also, waterproofing sheet union to problem of joint have solved using of insertion type method so that, it improved a watertightness. It has improved in resist impact, resist abrasion and it is the effect of shortened construction period and cutting down on construction expenses. Here are the special quality and superiority of this waterproofing research. (1) Level material has the super adhesive strength so that it makes the basic surface without the gab of waterproofing sheet and waterproofing layer with the string adhesive strength. (2) We unite the sheet with the joining part between sheets by waterproofing sheet joint using of method. (3) There is the effect of shortened construction period and cutting down on construction expenses without waterproofing of protection.

일방향 복합재료 Single Lap접합 조인트의 파손 모드 및 강도 I. 실험 (Failure Mode and Strength of Unidirectional Composite Single Lap Bonded Joints I. Experiments)

  • 본 연구에서는 몇 가지 접합 방법에 따라 일방향 복합재료 단일 겹치기 접합 조인트의 파손 과정, 모드 및 강도를 실험적으로 평가하였다 접합 방법으로는 접착제 없는 동시성형, 접착제를 사용한 동시성형 및 이차 접합의 세 가지를 고려하였다 또한 이차 접합 조인트에서 몇 가지 파라미터의 영향도 살펴보았다. 접착제 없는 동시성형 시편은 가장 우수한 조인트 강도를 나타내었다. 이차접합 조인트에서는 접착제 층의 점진적인 파손이 발생하였다. 접착제의 재료 및 접합 강도가 상대적으로 강한 필름 접착제의 동시성형 조인트는 갑작스런 층간분리 파손이 발생하였으며 이차 접합 조인트보다 더 낮은 파손 강도를 나타내었다. 이차 집합 조인트에서 층간분리 파손이 발생하지 않은 것은 접착제 층에서의 균열 진전 및 점진적 파손이 층간분리 파손을 방지한 것으로 보인다. 따라서 복합재료 접합 조인트의 파손 강도는 접착제의 재료 강도 또는 접착 성능과 항상 비례하지 않으며 이것은 복합재료가 층간 분리 파손에 약하기 때문이다.

An experimental and numerical investigation on fatigue of composite and metal aircraft structures

  • The static strength and fatigue crack resistance of the aircraft skin structures depend on the materials used and joint type. Most of the commercial aircraft's skin panel structures are made from aluminium alloy and carbon fibre reinforced epoxy. In this study, the fatigue resistance of four joint configurations (metal/metal, metal/composite, composite/composite and composite/metal) with riveted, adhesive bonded, and hybrid joining techniques are investigated with experiments and finite element analysis. The fatigue tests were tension-tension because of the typical nature of the loads on aircraft skin panels susceptible of experimenting fatigue. Experiment results suggest that the fatigue life of hybrid joints is superior to adhesive bonded joints, and these in turn much better than conventional riveted joints. Thanks to the fact that, for hybrid joints, the adhesive bond provides better load distribution and ensures load-carrying capacity in the event of premature adhesive failure while rivets induce compressive residual stresses in the joint. Results from FE tool ABAQUS analysis for adhesive bonded and hybrid joints agrees with the experiments. From the analysis, the energy release rate for adhesive bonded joints is higher than that of hybrid joints in both opening (mode I) and shear direction (mode II). Most joints show higher energy release rate in mode II. This indicates that the joints experience fatigue crack in the shear direction, which is responsible for crack opening.

접착제로 접합된 복합재료 구동축의 토크 전달특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Torque Transmission Characteristics of Adhesively Bonded Composite Drive Shafts)

  • The stresses and torque transmission capabilities of adhesively bonded circular, hexagonal and elliptical lap joints were analyzed by the finite element and compared with the experimental results. The adherends of the joints were composed of carbon fiber/epoxy composite shafts and steel shafts. In calculating the torque transmission capabilities, the linear laminate properties of the composite material and the nonlinear shear properties of the adhesive were used. Using this method, the torque transmission capabilities of adhesively bonded lap joints could be obtained within 10% error compared to the experimental results except some single lap joints. The experiments revealed that the hexagonal joint had the best torque transmission capability from the single lap joints and the double lap joint had better torque transmission than the single lap joint.

Influence of the presence of defects on the stresses shear distribution in the adhesive layer for the single-lap bonded joint

  • In this study, the finite element method was used to analyze the distribution of the adhesive shear stresses in the single-lap bonded joint of two plates 2024-T3 aluminum with and without defects. The effects of the adhesive properties (shear modulus, the thickness and the length of the adhesive were highlighted. The results prove that the shear stresses are located on the free edges of the adhesively bonding region, and reach maximum values near the defect, because the concentration of high stress occurs near this area.
