  • The effects of resin additives and inorganic compounds addition on the thermal decomposition of low density polyethylene(LDPE) resin have been studied in a thermal analyzer(TGA, DSC) and a small batch reactor. The silica-alumina type compounds tested were kaolinite, bentonite, perlite, diatomaceous earth, activated clay and clay. The resin additives were antiforgging-agent and longevity-agent. As the results of TGA experiments, addition of antifogging-agent, longevity-agent and clay increased the temperature of the maximum reaction rate($T_{max}$). The silica-alumina type inorganic materials increased the pyrolysis reraction rate in the order of activated clay, diatomaceous earth, bentonite, perlites, and kaolinite. In the DSC experiments, addition of antifogging-agent and clay decreased the heat of fusion and the heat of pyrolysis reaction. Bentonite decreased 20% of the heat of fusion and 25% of the heat of pyrolysis reaction. In the batch system experiments, the mixing of clay retarded the initial producing rate of fuel oil, but increased the yield of fuel oil. Addition of bentonite increased the yield of fuel oil from LDPE resin. Mixing of antifogging-agent and longevity-agent produced the fuel oil having lower carbon number. The amounts of the carbon number below 12 in fuel oil decreased with adding the clay. That below 23 in fuel oil increased with mixing of bentonite, perlite, kaolinite, and activated clay. But the mixing of diatomaceous earth did not affect the carbon contents of fuel oil from pure LDPE resin. In the silica-alumina type inorganic material used in this experiments, bentonite was the most effective from the pyrolysis heat, yields, and the characteristics of fuel oil.

  • This study is the result of examining the growth and survival rate of larva and spat when supplied with Enriched live food by adding $B_{12}$, chitosan, PSB, and polysaccharides to microalgae (Chaetoceros gracilis, Isochrysis galbana) to raise the survival rate of larva and spat during artificial clam seed production. Microalge (Chaetoceros gracilis, Isochrysis galbana) was strengthened for nutrition with $B_{12}$ 0.1 ppm, chitosan 0.2 ppm, PSB 3 ppm and polysaccharides 1 ppm and was daily supplied for $3{\times}10^3-15{\times}10^3Cells/mL$ and the growth and survival rates were measured. As the result of experiment, the growth of larva did not show much difference with PSB test section $199{\pm}0.59{\mu}m$, $B_{12}$ test section $198{\pm}0.64{\mu}m$, and chitosan $197{\pm}0.52{\mu}m$, survival rate was highest at PSB test section with 99.3%, followed by $B_{12}$ test section 95.9%, and chitosan 94.5%. Growth of early spat was the highest for PSB test section at $2.74{\pm}0.58mm$, followed by polysaccharides $2.67{\pm}0.55mm$, $B_{12}$ $2.54{\pm}0.48mm$, and chitosan $2.49{\pm}0.51mm$, and the survival rate was the highest for PSB test group at 32.1%, followed by $B_{12}$ test section 31.6%, chitosan 28.5%, and polysacharrides 21.4%. From such results, PSB is found to be very effective with low-quality improvement when breeding early spat of clams, and especially for floor-type early spat breeding, it had the effect of suppressing protozoan and germs so that detailed studies from various perspectives should be conducted with various chemicals in the future.

  • This research was performed to evaluate the recycling feasibility as a construction material of dredged harbor soil mixed with clay and glass frit. Concentration of heavy metals of the dredged soil from D harbor was severly high, showing Zn of 526.0~13,150.1 mg/kg. The dredged soil was maily composed of 48.30 wt% $SiO_2$, 16.60 wt% $Al_2O_3$, 10.10 wt% CaO, 7.75 wt% $Fe_2O_3$. The clay and the glass frit contained 70.82 wt% $SiO_2$ and $Al_2O_3$ 18.78 wt%, and 71.75 wt% $SiO_2$, 13.99 wt% CaO, 8.51 wt% $Na_2O$, respectively. After adding 10~40 wt% to the clay and sintering them at $1,000^{\circ}C$ or $1,100^{\circ}C$, the compressive strength of the sintered specimens showed $132.6{\sim}178.5kgf/cm^2$ or $581.2{\sim}793.7kgf/cm^2$, respectively. In case of SC46 with the addition 40 wt% of the dredged soil to the clay, the compressive strength ($793.7kgf/cm^2$) of specimen sintered at $1,100^{\circ}C$ was over 5 times higher than that at $1,000^{\circ}C$. The specimen mixed with 40 wt% of dredged soil, 60 wt% of clay and 1 wt% of glass frit satisfied the 1st grade standard for clay brick by KS L 4201. The results of all specimens by Korean Standard Leaching Test also satisfied the standard criteria.

  • Purpose: Post-mastectomy radiotherapy (PMR) is known to decrease loco-regional recurrence. Adequate skin and dermal dose are achieved by adding bolus. The more difficult clinical issue is determining the necessary number of bolus treatment, given the limits of normal skin tolerance. The aim of this study is to evaluate the necessary number of bolus treatment after PMR in patients with breast cancer. Materials and Methods: Four female breast cancer patients were included in the study. The median age was 53 years(range, $38{\sim}74$), tumor were left sided in 2 patients and right sided in 2patients. All patients were treated with postoperative radiotherapy after MRM. Radiotherapy was delivered to the chest wall (C.W) and supraclavicular lymph nodes (SCL) using 4 MV X-ray. The total dose was 50 Gy, in 2 Gy fractions (with 5 times a week). CT was peformed for treatment planning, treatment planning was peformed using $ADAC-Pinnacles^3$ (Phillips, USA) for all patients without and with bolus. Bolus treatment plans were generated using image tool (0.5 cm of thickness and 6 cm of width). Dose distribution was analyzed and the increased skin dose rate in the build-up region was computed and the skin dose using TLD-100 chips (Harshaw, USA) was measured. Results: No significant difference was found in dose distribution without and with bolus; C.W coverage was $95{\sim}100%$ of the prescribed dose in both. But, there was remarkable difference in the skin dose to the scar. The skin dose to the scar without and with bolus were $100{\sim}105%\;and\;50{\sim}75%$. The increased skin dose rates in the build-up region for Pt. 1, Pt. 2. Pt. 3 and Pt. 4 were 23.3%, 35.6%, 34.9%, and 41.7%. The results of measured skin dose using TLD-100 chips in the cases without and with bolus were 209.3 cGy and 161.1 cGy, 200 cGy and 150.2 cGy, 211.4 cGy and 160.5 cGy, 198.6 cGy and 155.5 cGy for Pt. 1, Pt. 2, Pt. 3, and Pt. 4. Conclusion: It was concludes through this analysis that the adequate number of bolus treatments is 50-60% of the treatment program. Further, clinical trial is needed to evaluate the benefit and toxicity associated with the use of bolus in PMR.

  • 1. Purpose of study In the medical science of 'Sasang', a constitutional examination(diagnosis) and a medical treatment are important however a dietary cure is considered as very important at the medical prevention and treatment. But there has been a confusion due to the different view concerning the constitutional foods in between scholars. There it is necessary for us to bring up the theoretical basis of the 'Sasang' constitutional - dietary cure by means of the bibliographical study in relation to a historic, characteristics, efficiency of the major foods. A mellow as called "Baekchejiju" has been used as a source of adding food materials when we make a boiling soup, which is only in Korea but not other countries case. We also studied a hollyhock, a 'Darkpull', a sunflower together with a mellow, because these plants contains a similar characteristics and same chinese word of 'Gue' at their name. At this study we would like to bring up the basis correcting the evil of the misinterpretation to be translated 'Gue' into 'Sunflower', which would be helpful to the current academic circles studied very rarely for the introduction process of sunflower. 2. Method of study We did a comparative study based on not only 'Bonchoseo - original plants book' but also agricultural books, boos of the same kinds and private books. 3. Result of study 1) A mellow has been changed its inscribed name from 'Abushil' to 'A-uk', to 'A-ok', to 'A-uk'. And a winter mellow is called as 'Dol-a-uk' which means the thing is changed a year. 2) The heliotropism of mellow has been used as the symbol of the loyalty and the intelligence. Its meaning has been interpreted expansively engaging with the heliotropism of a hollyhock, a Darkpull, and a sunflower. 3) Once 'Darkpull' had been recognized as 'one day flower'. But after sunflower come, people have confused and misread 'Darkpull' by 'Sunflower'. 4) The first record of sunflower among the existing bibliographical documents is "Chung-jang-gam-chun-seo" (1795). And It is presumed thal the sunflower had introduced in Korea at the early to mid of the eighteen century. 5) The interpretation for mellow has been made s confusion by a several documentary and dictionary record, but should be corrected to be right.

  • The black pine logs damaged by pine wilt disease in Jeju-do were heat-treated to extend the utilization of domestic trees damaged by pine wilt disease. The heat-treatment of wood requires wood to be heated to $56^{\circ}C$ for 30 min at the core. The average moisture content and top-diameter of the black pine logs were ranged from 46% to 141% and from 180 mm to 500 mm, respectively. And the basic specific gravity and oven-dry specific gravity of the black pine logs were 0.47 and 0.52, respectively. The time required for heat-treatment at $105^{\circ}C$ temperature was ranged from 7.7 h to 44.2 h, depending on moisture content and top-diameter. The temperature distribution was used to predict the time required for heat-treatment of black pine log with various moisture contents and top-diameters using finite difference method. The thermal properties of wood including the thermal conductivity and specific heat in accordance with moisture content were calculated. Heat transfer coefficient for mixed convection in form of adding natural convection and forced convection was used for heat transfer analysis. The error between the measured and predicted values ranged from 3% to 45%. The predicted times required for heat-treatment of black pine log with 50% moisture content and 200 mm, 300 mm, and 400 mm top-diameter were 10.9 h, 18.3 h, and 27.0 h, respectively. If the initial moisture content of black pine log is 75%, heat treatment times of 13.6 h, 22.5 h, and 32.8 h were predicted in accordance with top-diameter. And if the initial moisture content of black pine log is 100%, heat treatment times of 16.2 h, 26.5 h, and 38.2 h were predicted in accordance with top-diameter. When the physical properties of logs damaged by pine wilt disease are presented, these results can be applicable to the heat-treatment of red pine and Korean pine logs as well.

  • In this research, composite alumina was prepared to add the various promoters by sol-gel method and examined its thermal stability. After sintering at $1,200^{\circ}C$, the thermal stability resulted in following order, $Si{\fallingdotseq}La$ > Ti > $Ba{\fallingdotseq}Ce$ > Y > $Zr{\fallingdotseq}Mg$, in accordance with adding the promoters. Especially in case of silica-added alumina, a phase transformation temperature to ${\alpha}$-alumina increased about $150^{\circ}C$ and after sintering at $1,200^{\circ}C$, it showed to maintain in ${\gamma}$-form and ${\delta}$-form alumina phase. Also it showed an increase of surface area from $3m^2/g$ to $71m^2/g$ compared with pure ${\alpha}$-alumina. In the case of silicaadded alumina, the characterization change of this alumina particle resulted in a delay of phase transformation because Si-O-Al bond was increased when sintered at high temperature. In case of lanthanum-added alumina, there was a sintering delay phenomenon in inter-particles as $LaAlO_3$ structure existed. The existence of lanthanum structure was confirmed by XRD and XPS analysis. It appeared on the alumina surface as $La_2O_3$ structure when it was sintered under $1,000^{\circ}C$, as the perovskite structure of $LaAlO_3$ at above $1,000^{\circ}C$ and as the magneto-plumbite structure of $LaAl_{11}O_{18}$ at above $1,300^{\circ}C$.

  • Bus stops are places that a variety of things happen including waiting, meeting and taking breaks. Therefore, these locations need to be made to meet the usage demands. They should be landscaped to provide a comfortable and satisfying environment for users. At present, bus stops are made with artificial materials and are all unified in form without consideration to landscape, ecology and other characteristics. Users are exposed to the poor surroundings. However, if small urban parks, which are of vital importance as well as extremely convenient, were connected to bus stops, the results would be a quantitative increase in the leisure locations and a qualitative change in the form of improved landscape and various forms of parks. The research was carried out to determine the effects of connecting bus stops and small parks, and the results are as follows. First, small parks provide resting areas for waiting passengers and buses. Second, it provides presently insufficient rest areas with convenience facilities and makes it more comfortable to take buses and use the park. Third, it provides a multi-functional efficient use of space that functions as both bus stop and park. Fourth, it can be a symbolic landmark that can represent the color of the area by adding a cultural element. Fifth, the existing green space in the park can contribute to the natural environment of the city. This study deduced general problems surrounding bus stops on the basis of selected indices and researched bus stops which are being used as parks and the places which have the potential for such purposes, in order to suggest a plan of attack. In addition, this proposal can create a new form of space, the bus stop park, and try to create a module of cases to establish it.

  • In order to obtain the basic knowledges concerned to the semen preservation of aquacultural fishes, studies on the physical and chemical properties of semen, and sperm motility with the different osmotic pressures making by adding $Na^+,\;K^+,\; Mg^{++},\;and\;Ca^{++}$ to artificial seawater (ASW) were conducted in black seabream, Acanthopagrus schlegeli. Average semen volume per fish in one strip was 1.97ml and sperm concentration was $2.33\pm1.30\times10^{10}$ sperm/ml. Spermatocrit and pH of semen were $90.6\pm5.0\;and\;8.3\pm0.1$, respectively, Osmotic pressures of rearing seawater, seminal fluid and plasma were $939\pm24,382\pm70\;and\;342\pm77$ mOsm/l, and $Na^+,\;K^+$ and $Cl^-$ concentrations of seminal fluid were $169.5\pm4.5,\;4.9\pm2.2,\;156.0\pm2.0\;mM/l$, respectively. When semen were diluted by using $Na^+,\;K^+,\;Mg^{++}\;and\;Ca^{++}$ free ASW, only $Na^+$ free ASW had no sperm motility. As raising osmotic pressure graduary by addition of 1M NaCl to the $Na^+$ free ASW, spermatozoa showed the high motilities in 457-1128 mOsm/l, but the low motilities in 1398-1736 mOsm/l. In the case of same treatments with 1M of KCl, $MgC1_2\;and\;CaC1_2$ to the $K^+,\;Mg^{++}\;and\;Ca^{++}$ free ASW, spermatozoa revealed the high motilities in $904\~1434,\;818\~1175\;and\;956\~1343$ mOsm/l, respectively.
