  • This paper estimate a desired signal in a correlation wireless communication. The transmitted signal is mixed with the information signal, interference, and noise in wireless channel, and it is incident on the receiver. In this paper, we apply MUSIC algorithm and sub-array method to recover the total rank of the correlation matrix in order to estimation a desired signal among receiving signals. Through simulation, we analyze to compare the proposed method with the classical MUSIC algorithm. As a result of the simulation, the proposed method improved the resolution about 10degrees compared to the conventional MUSIC algorithm. We prove the superiority of the proposed method for the desired signal estimation in correlation channel.

  • In this paper, we propose a fast ICI suppression algorithm with adaptive channel estimation for the LTE-Advanced uplink system. In order to effectively remove phase noise and carrier frequency offset at time varying channel, we use the comb type pilot. The purpose is to improve performance by reducing computational complexity than conventional PNFS(Phase Noise & Frequency offset Suppression) algorithm. We reduce computational complexity by decreasing overlapping computation or unnecessary computation at conventional PNFS algorithm. Also, we propose an effective channel estimation method. We estimate and compensate multipath channel through the proposed adaptive channel estimation method. The BER performance of the proposed method is better about 0.5 dB than the conventional method at the Vehicular A channel.

  • In mobile communication systems, the Reduced State Sequence Estimation(RSSE) receiver must be able to track changes in the channel. This is carried out by the adaptive channel estimator. However, when the tentative decisions are used in the channel estimator, incorrect decisions can cause error propagation. This paper presents a new channel estimator using the path history in the Viterbi decoder for preventing error propagation. The selection of the path history in the Viterbi decoder for preventing error propagation. The selection of the path history for the channel estimator depends on the path metric as in the decoding of the Viterbi decoder in RSSE. And a discussion on the channel estimator with different adaptation algorithms such as Least Mean Square(LMS) algorithm and Recursive Least Square(RLS) algorithm is provided. Results from computer simulations show that the RSSE receivers using the proposed channel estimator have better performance than the other conventional RSSE receiver, and that the channel estimator with RLS algorithm is adequate for multipath fading channel.

  • Blind equalization of transmission channel is important in communication areas and signal processing applications because it does not need training sequences, nor dose it require a priori channel information. In this paper, an adaptive blind MMSE channel equalization technique based on second-order statistics in investigated. We present an adaptive blind MMSE channel equalization using multichannel linear prediction error method for estimating cross-correlation vector. They can be implemented as RLS or LMS algorithms to recursively update the cross-correlation vector. Once cross-correlation vector is available, it can be used for MMSE channel equalization. Unlike many known subspace methods, our proposed algorithms do not require channel order estimation. Therefore, our algorithms are robust to channel order mismatch. Performance of our algorithms and comparisons with existing algorithms are shown for real measured digital microwave channel.

  • Blind channel identification and equalization attempt to identify the communication channel and to remove the inter-symbol interference caused by a communication channel without using any known trainning sequences. In this paper, we propose a blind adaptive channel identification and equalization algorithm with phase offset compensation for single-input multiple-output (SIMO) channel. It is based on the one-step forward multichannel linear prediction error method and can be implemented by an RLS algorithm. Phase offset problem, we use a blind adaptive algorithm called the constant modulus derotator (CMD) algorithm based on condtant modulus algorithm (CMA). Moreover, unlike many known subspace (SS) methods or cross relation (CR) methods, our proposed algorithms do not require channel order estimation. Therefore, our algorithms are robust to channel order mismatch.

  • Adaptive modulation(AM) is an important technique to increase the system efficiency, in which transmitter selects the most suitable modulation mode adaptively according to channel state in the temporary and spatially varying communication environment. Fixed modulation on channels with varying signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) is that the bit-errorrate(BER) probability performance is changing with the channel quality. An adaptive modulation scheme can be designed to have a BER which is constant for all channel SNRs. The correct as well as fast and simple SNR estimation is required essentially for this adaptive modulation. In order to operate adaptive modulation system effectively, in this paper, we analyze the effect of SNR estimation performance to it through the average BER and data throughput. Applying SNR estimation based on auto-correlation of decision feedback signal and others to adaptive modulation system, we also confirm performance degradation or improvement of its which is decided by SNR estimation error at each transition point of modulation level. Since SNR estimation based on auto-correlation of decision feedback signal shows stable estimation performance for various quadrature amplitude modulation(QAM) comparatively, this can be reduced degradation than others at each transition point of modulation level.

  • In this series of two papers, adaptive code rate change schemes in DS-SSMA systems are proposed. In the proposed schemes the error correcting code rate is changed according to the channel states. Two channel states having significant effects on the bit error probability are considered: one is the effective number of users considered in Part 1, and the other is the fading environment considered in Part 2. These channel states are estimated based on retransmission requests. The criterion for the change of the code rate is to maximize the throughput under given error bound. Simulation results show that we can transmit maximum amount of information if we change the code rate based on the channel states.

  • In this paper, the performance of OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) was assessed by using computer simulations performed using Matlab. We analyzed channel estimation algorithm for adaptive modulation techniques and effect of system using designed simulator in Multimedia wireless communication multipath fading channel environment. Also, we analyzed performance of adaptive OFDM systems that apply adaptive equalizer using guided result through BER. In result, in case of adaptive modulation OFDM systems that modulation mode changes according to channel state, we knew that adaptive modulation OFDM systems have gains of about 7dB performance than general system (BER=$10^{-1}$). Thus we know that adaptive OFDM propose systems is required for efficient transmission in the high speed Multimedia wireless communication channel environment.

  • Multiuser detection (MUD) and channel estimation techniques in space-division multiple-access aided orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing systems recently has received intensive interest in receiver design technologies. The maximum likelihood (ML) MUD that provides optimal performance has the cost of a dramatically increased computational complexity. The minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) MUD exhibits poor performance, although it achieves lower computational complexity. With almost the same complexity, an MMSE with successive interference cancellation (SIC) scheme achieves a better bit error rate performance than a linear MMSE multiuser detector. In this paper, hybrid ML-MMSE with SIC adaptive multiuser detection based on the joint channel estimation method is suggested for signal detection. The simulation results show that the proposed method achieves good performance close to the optimal ML performance at low SNR values and a low computational complexity at high SNR values.

  • In this paper, we propose a new adaptive MIMO switching algorithm that provides the optimal trade-off between throughput and reliability of data in MIMO system. The proposed algorithm is based on the variable packet error predictor which is robust for channel estimation error, and we show that our algorithm has a better spectrum efficiency than the conventional MIMO switching techniques about 8 percent point.
