In this paper, an adaptive observer based upon the exponentially weighted least-square method is implemented in the design of a model reference adaptive controller for an unknown time-invariant discrete single-input single-output linear plant. The adaptive observer estimates the padrameter vectors and initial state vector. The control input is determined so that the output of the plant converges to the output of the stable model reference.
It is well known that the model of nuclear reactors features natural nonlinearity, and variable parameters during power tracking operation. In this paper, a disturbance observer-based adaptive sliding mode control (DOB-ASMC) strategy is proposed for power tracking of the pressurized-water reactor (PWR) in the presence of lumped disturbances. The nuclear reactor model is firstly established based on point-reactor kinetics equations with six delayed neutron groups. Then, a new sliding mode disturbance observer is designed to estimate the lumped disturbance, and its stability is discussed. On the basis of the developed DOB, an adaptive sliding mode control scheme is proposed, which is a combination of backstepping technique and integral sliding mode control approach. In addition, an adaptive law is introduced to enhance the robustness of a PWR with disturbances. The asymptotic stability of the overall control system is verified by Lyapunov stability theory. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate that the proposed DOB-ASMC strategy has better power tracking performance than conventional sliding mode controller and PID control method as well as conventional backstepping controller.

For precise tracking control of a servo system with nonlinear friction, a robust friction compensation scheme is presented in this paper. The nonlinear friction is difficult to identify the friction parameters exactly through experiments. Friction parameters can be also varied according to contact conditions such as the variation of temperature and lubrication. Thus, in order to overcome these problems and obtain the desired position tracking performance, a robust adaptive back-stepping control scheme with a dual friction observer is developed. In addition, to estimate lumped friction uncertainty due to modeling errors, a DEKF recurrent neural network and adaptive reconstructed error estimator are also developed. The feasibility of the proposed control scheme is verified through the experiment fur a ball-screw system.
This paper presents a sensorless speed control of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor using an adaptive integral binary observer and fuzzy logic controller. In view of composition with a main loop regulator and an auxiliary loop regulator, the binary observer has a property of the chattering alleviation in the constant boundary layer. However, the steady state estimation accuracy and robustness are dependent upon the width of the constant boundary. In order to improve the steady state performance of the binary observer, the binary observer is formed by adding extra integral dynamics to the switching hyperplane equation. Also, because the conventional fixed gain PI controller are very sensitive to step change of command speed, parameter variations and load disturbance, the fuzzy logic controller is used to compensate a fixed gain PI controller. Therefore, a gain PI is fixed and the IPMSM is drived at another speed region. The effectiveness of the proposed the adaptive integral observer and the fuzzy logic controller are confirmed by experimental results.
A new control method for precision robust position control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is presented. In direct drive motor systems, a load torque disturbance directly affects the motor shaft. The application of the load torque observer is published in using a fixed gain to solve this problem. However, the motor flux linkage cannot be determined precisely for a load torque observer. Therefore, an asymptotically stable adaptive observer base on a deadbeat observer is considered to overcome the problems of unknown parameters, torque disturbance and a small chattering effect. To find the critical parameters the system stability analysis is carried out using the Liapunov stability theorem.
This paper is proposed to position and speed control of surface permanent magnet synchronous motor(SPMSM) drive without mechanical sensor. A adaptive state observer is used for the mechanical state estimation of the motor. The observer was developed based on nonlinear model of SPMSM, that employs a d-q rotating reference frame attached to the rotor. A adaptive observer is implemented to compute the speed and position feedback signal. The validity of the proposed sensorless scheme is confirmed by various response characteristics.
In this paper, we propose an adaptive observer for electrically driven mobile robots in the presence of parametric uncertainties. To estimate the unmeasured velocities of the mobile robot, we develop an adaptive observer using the transformation matrices which can solve the difficulty caused by the quadratic velocity terms depending on the uncertain parameters. Using the Lyapunov stability theory, we prove that all signals in a closed-loop system converge to zero. Finally, the simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed observer system.

An adaptive state observer is presented for a class of LTI systems that have a sinusoidal disturbance in the measurement output. Adaptation rules are developed for identifying the unknown sinusoidal disturbance signal from the system output. For the application of the identification result to the state estimation problem, the sinusoidal signal with arbitrary initial phase has been considered in this paper. In order to test the performance of proposed algorithm, comparative computer simulations have been carried out with an existing robust observer. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A disturbance-observer-based adaptive neural tracker design problem is investigated for a class of perturbed uncertain non-affine nonlinear systems with unknown control direction. A nonlinear disturbance observer (NDO) design methodology using neural networks is presented to construct a tracking control scheme with the attenuation effect of an external disturbance. Compared with previous control results using NDO for nonlinear systems in non-affine form, the major contribution of this paper is to design a NDO-based adaptive tracker without the sign information of the control coefficient. The stability of the closed-loop system is analyzed in the sense of Lyapunov stability.

In this paper, an observer-based adaptive controller is proposed to control the longitudinal motion of vehicles. The standard gradient method will be used to estimate the vehicle parameters, mass, time constant, etc. The nonlinear model between the driving force and the vehicle acceleration will be chosen to design the state observer for the vehicle velocity and acceleration. It will be shown that the proposed observer is exponentially stable, and that the adaptive controller proposed in this paper is stable. It will be proved that the errors of the relative distance, velocity and acceleration converge to zero asymptotically fast, and that the overall system is also asymptotically stable. The simulation results are presented to investigate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
