  • This paper presents a digitally speed sensorless control system for induction motor with direct torque control (DTC). The drive is based on Mode1 Reference Adaptive System (MRAS) using state observer as a reference model fat flux estimation. The system are closed loop stator flux and torque observer for wide speed range that inputs are currents and voltages sensing of motor terminal, model reference adaptive control (MRAS) with rotor flux linkages for the speed turning aignal at low speed range, two hysteresis controllers. The Proposed system is verified through simulation.

  • This paper presents observer-based virtual sensors for YMC(Yaw Moment Control) systems by differential braking. A high-fidelity empirical model of the hydraulic unit in YMC system was developed for a model-based observer design. Optimal, adaptive, and robust observers were then developed and their estimation accuracy and robustness against model uncertainty were investigated via HILS tests. The HILS results indicate that the proposed disturbance attenuation approach indeed exhibits more satisfactory pressure estimation performance than the other approach with admissible degradation against the predefined model disturbance.

  • For the speed control of motors, the position or speed sensors are necessary to obtain the position information of the rotor. Specially, SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) needs an accurate rotor position data because both the rotor and the stator have a salient pole structure. High functional sensors like resolver or encoder are expensive and have complex connecting lines to the controller so the pure signals are apt to be mixed with noised. In the sight of SRM drives, the high temperature, heavy dust, and the EMI surroundings reduce the reliability of speed and position sensors. Therefore, the speed and position sensorless control algorithms using observer have been accepted widely. In this paper An adaptive sliding observer is described to control the SRM without speed or position sensors. The adaptive sliding observer is set on the basis of variable structure control theory. The sliding surface is constructed by current error terms and this surface guarantees the errors converge to "zero". The stability of observer is affirmed by Lyapunov stability analysis and popov's hyper stability theory.ty theory.

  • In the adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control, from a set of fuzzy IF-THEN rules adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control whose parameters are adjusted on-line according to some adaptation laws is constructed for the purpose of controlling the plant to track a desired trajectory. Most of the research works in nonlinear controller design using fuzzy systems consider the affine system with fixed grid-rule structure based on system state availability. The fixed grid-rule structure makes the order of the controller big unnecessarily, hence the on-line fuzzy rule structure and fuzzy observer based adaptive fuzzy sliding mode controller is proposed to solve system state availability problems. Therefore adaptive laws of fuzzy parameters ...

  • This paper presents a Modified Adaptive Complementary Sliding Mode Control (MACSMC) system for the longitudinal motion control of the Fully-Submerged Hydrofoil Craft (FSHC) in the presence of time varying disturbance and uncertain perturbations. The nonlinear disturbance observer is designed with less conservatism that only boundedness of the derivative of the disturbance is required. Then, a complementary sliding mode control system combined with adaptive law is designed to reduce the bound of stabilization error with fast convergence. In particularly, the modified complementary sliding mode surface which contains the estimation of the disturbance can reduce the switching gain and retain the normal performance of the system. Moreover, a hyperbolic tangent function contained in the control law is utilized to attenuate the chattering of the actuator. The global asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system is demonstrated utilizing the Lyapunov stability theory. Ultimately, the simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • This paper propose how to track the position of the observer to control the viewing zone using an adaptive parallax barrier. The pose is estimated using a Constrained Local Model based on the shape model and Landmark for robust eye-distance measurement in the face pose. Camera's correlation converts distance and horizontal location to centimeter. The pixel pitch of the adaptive parallax barrier is adjusted according to the position of the observer's eyes, and the barrier is moved to adjust the viewing area. This paper propose a method for tracking the observer in the range of 60cm to 490cm, and measure the error, measurable range, and fps according to the resolution of the camera image. As a result, the observer can be measured within the absolute error range of 3.1642cm on average, and it was able to measure about 278cm at 320×240, about 488cm at 640×480, and about 493cm at 1280×960 depending on the resolution of the image.

  • In a companion paper, Pasala and Nagarajaiah analytically and experimentally validate the Adaptive Length Pendulum Smart Tuned Mass Damper (ALP-STMD) on a primary structure (2 story steel structure) whose frequencies are time invariant (Pasala and Nagarajaiah 2012). In this paper, the ALP-STMD effectiveness on a primary structure whose frequencies are time varying is studied experimentally. This study experimentally validates the ability of an ALP-STMD to adequately control a structural system in the presence of real time changes in primary stiffness that are detected by a real time observer based system identification. The experiments implement the newly developed Adaptive Length Pendulum Smart Tuned Mass Damper (ALP-STMD) which was first introduced and developed by Nagarajaiah (2009), Nagarajaiah and Pasala (2010) and Nagarajaiah et al. (2010). The ALP-STMD employs a mass pendulum of variable length which can be tuned in real time to the parameters of the system using sensor feedback. The tuning action is made possible by applying a current to a shape memory alloy wire changing the effective length that supports the damper mass assembly in real time. Once a stiffness change in the structural system is detected by an open loop observer, the ALP-STMD is re-tuned to the modified system parameters which successfully reduce the response of the primary system. Significant performance improvement is illustrated for the stiffness modified system, which undergoes the re-tuning adaptation, when compared to the stiffness modified system without adaptive re-tuning.

  • In this paper, the problem of designing on adaptive controller for dc drives using state observers, which is operated under varying load conditions, is addressed. A robust self-tuning controller that can track a constant reference and reject constant load disturbances is also studied. This scheme is very attractive since the estimates of system parameters are available in real time. Parameter estimation is based on the recursive least squares method and the control algorithm of the pole placement technique. Also, state observer systems are applied. State observer systems are required to estimate the states quickly and exactly without being affected by the disturbances.
