  • A fuzzy dispatching algorithm with adaptable control scheme is proposed for more flexible and adaptable operation of AGV system. The basic idea of the algorithm is prioritization of all move requests based on the fuzzy urgency. The fuzzy urgency is measured by the fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making method, utilizing the relevant information such as incoming and outgoing buffer status, elapsed time of move request, and AGV traveling distance. At every dispatching decision point, the algorithm prioritizes all move requests based on the fuzzy urgency. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with several dispatching algorithms in terms of system throughput in a hypothetical job shop environment. Simulation experiments are carried out varying the level of criticality ratio of AGVs , the numbers of AGVs, and the buffer capacities. The rule presented in this study appears to be more effective for dispatching AGVs than the other rules.

  • This paper presents an adaptive PID control scheme with fuzzy model for nonlinear system. TSK(Takagi-Sugeno-Kang) fuzzy model was used to estimate the error of control input, and the parameter of PID controller was adapted from the error The parameter of TSK fuzzy model was also adapted to plant by comparing the activity output of plant and model output. PID controller which was adapted the uncertainty of nonlinear plant and the change of parameter can be designed by using the presented method. The usefullness of algorithm which was proposed by the simulation of several nonlinear system was also certificated.

  • In this paper, we propose a ADALINE controller using fuzzy-backpropagation algorithm to adjust weight. In the proposed ADALINE controller, using fuzzy algorithm for traning neural network, controller make use of ADALINE due to simple and computing efficiency. This controller includes adaptive learning rate to accelerate teaming. It applies to servo-motor as an controlled process. And then it take a simulation for the position control, so the verify the usefulness of the proposed ADALINE controller.

  • Accurate detection and classification of faults on transmission lines is vitally important. High impedance faults(HIF) in particular pose difficulties for the commonly employed conventional overcurrent and distance relays, and if not detected, can cause damage to expensive equipment, threaten life and cause fire hazards. Although HIFs are far less common than LIFs, it is imperative that any protection device should be able to satisfactorily deal with both HIFs and LIFs. This paper proposes an algorithm for fault detection and classification for both LIFs and HIFs using Adaptive Network-based Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS). The performance of the proposed algorithm is tested on a typical 154[kV] Korean transmission line system under various fault conditions. Test results show that the ANFIS can detect and classify faults including (LIFs and HIFs) accurately within half a cycle.

Adaptive Clustering Algorithm for Recycling Cell Formation: An Application of Fuzzy ART Neural Networks

  • The recycling cell formation problem means that disposal products are classified into recycling part families using group technology in their end-of-life phase. Disposal products have the uncertainties of product status by usage influences during product use phase, and recycling cells are formed design, process and usage attributes. In order to deal with the uncertainties, fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic-based neural network model are applied to recycling cell formation problem for disposal products. Fuzzy C-mean algorithm and a heuristic approach based on fuzzy ART neural network is suggested. Especially, the modified Fuzzy ART neural network is shown that it has a good clustering results and gives an extension for systematically generating alternative solutions in the recycling cell formation problem. Disposal refrigerators are shown as examples.

  • A new interacting multiple model (IMM) method using intelligent input estimation (IIE) is proposed to track a maneuvering target. In the proposed method, the acceleration level for each sub-model is determined by IIE-the estimation of the unknown acceleration input by a fuzzy system using the relation between maneuvering filter residual and non-maneuvering one. The genetic algorithm (GA) is utilized to optimize a fuzzy system for a sub-model within a fixed range of acceleration input. Then, multiple models are composed of these fuzzy systems, which are optimized for different ranges of acceleration input. In computer simulation for an incoming ballistic missile, the tracking performance of the proposed method is compared with those of the input estimation (IE) technique and the adaptive interacting multiple model (AIMM) method.

  • This paper is proposed adaptive fuzzy-neural network(FNN) controller for the speed control of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) drive. The design of this algorithm based on FNN controller that is implemented by using fuzzy control and neural network. This controller uses fuzzy rule as training patterns of a neural network. Also, this controller uses the back-propagation method to adjust the weights among the neurons of neural network in order to minimize the error between the command output and actual output. A model reference adaptive scheme is proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed by fuzzy logic based on the error and change of error measured between the motor speed and output of a reference model. The control performance of the adaptive FNN controller is evaluated by analysis for various operating conditions. The results of analysis prove that the proposed control system has strongly high performance and robustness in parameter variation, steady-state accuracy and transient response.

  • In adaptive fuzzy control, system designer develops an adaptive law for the output of the unknown plant to track a given signal. The adaptation gains of the adaptive law are critical elements in the overall system, however, they were used to be selected by the designer's experience or intuition. In this paper, genetic algorithm is used to search an optimal adaptation gain and simulation results will be presented to show the improved tracking responses.

Neuro-fuzzy based approach for estimation of concrete compressive strength

  • Compressive strength is one of the most important engineering properties of concrete, and testing of the compressive strength of concrete specimens is often costly and time consuming. In order to provide the time for concrete form removal, re-shoring to slab, project scheduling and quality control, it is necessary to predict the concrete strength based upon the early strength data. However, concrete compressive strength is affected by many factors, such as quality of raw materials, water cement ratio, ratio of fine aggregate to coarse aggregate, age of concrete, compaction of concrete, temperature, relative humidity and curing of concrete. The concrete compressive strength is a quite nonlinear function that changes depend on the materials used in the concrete and the time. This paper presents an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) for the prediction of concrete compressive strength. The training of fuzzy system was performed by a hybrid method of gradient descent method and least squares algorithm, and the subtractive clustering algorithm (SCA) was utilized for optimizing the number of fuzzy rules. Experimental data on concrete compressive strength in the literature were used to validate and evaluate the performance of the proposed ANFIS model. Further, predictions from three models (the back propagation neural network model, the statistics model, and the ANFIS model) were compared with the experimental data. The results show that the proposed ANFIS model is a feasible, efficient, and accurate tool for predicting the concrete compressive strength.
