Face Region Extraction Algorithm based on Adaptive Range Decision for Skin Color (적응적 피부색 구간 설정에 기반한 얼굴 영역 추출 알고리즘)

  • Generally, skin color information has been widely used at the face region extraction step of the face region recognition process. But many experimental results show that they are very sensitive to the given threshold range which is used to extract the face regions at the input image. In this paper, we propose a face region extraction algorithm based on an adaptive range decision for skin color. First we extract the pixels which are regarded as the candidate skin color pixels by using the given range for skin color extraction. Then, the ratio between the total pixels and the extracted pixels is calculated. According to the ratio, we adaptively decide the range of the skin color and extract face region. From the experiment results for the various images, the proposed algorithm shows more accurate results than the conventional algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive face region extraction algorithm based on skin color information. It consists oi the extraction of face candidate region and projection step. In the step of face candidate region extraction, we extract the pixels which are regarded as the candidate skin color pixels by using the given range. Then, the ratio between the total pixels and the extracted pixels is calculated. According to the ratio, we adaptively decide the range of the skin color and extract face candidate region. In the projection step, we project the extracted face candidate region into vertical direction to estimate the width of the face. Then the redundant parts are efficiently removed by using the estimated face width. And the extracted face width information is used at the horizontal projection step to extract the height of the face. From the experiment results for the various images, the proposed algorithm shows more accurate results than the conventional algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose a face region extraction algorithm using color information and projection. After the extraction of face candidate image using adaptive color information, we project it into vertical direction to estimate the width of the face. Then the redundant parts of the face are efficiently removed by using the estimated face width. And the width information of the face is used at the horizontal projection step to extract the height of the face, and non-face region such as the neck and some background regions, which are represented as the similar skin color, effectively eliminated. From the experiment results for the various images, the proposed algorithm shows more accurate results than the conventional algorithm.

  • In this paper, face recognition algorithm, by using skin color information of HSI color coordinate collected from face images, elliptical mask, fratures of face including eyes, nose and mouth, and geometrical feature vectors of face and facial angles, is proposed. The proposed algorithm improved face region extraction efficacy by using HSI information relatively similar to human's visual system along with color tone information about skin colors of face, elliptical mask and intensity information. Moreover, it improved face recognition efficacy with using feature information of eyes, nose and mouth, and Θ1(ACRED), Θ2(AMRED) and Θ 3(ANRED), which are geometrical face angles of face. In the proposed algorithm, it enables exact face reading by using color tone information, elliptical mask, brightness information and structural characteristic angle together, not like using only brightness information in existing algorithm. Moreover, it uses structural related value of characteristics and certain vectors together for the recognition method.

  • Human faces have been broadly studied in digital image and video processing fields. An appearance-based method, the adaptive boosting learning algorithm using integral image representations has been successfully employed for face detection, taking advantage of the feature extraction's low computational complexity. In this paper, we propose a face-detection postprocessing method that equalizes instantaneous facial regions in an efficient hardware architecture for use in real-time multimedia applications. The proposed system requires low hardware resources and exhibits robust performance in terms of the movements, zooming, and classification of faces. A series of experimental results obtained using video sequences collected under dynamic conditions are discussed.

  • In this paper, I propose a method for detection of look-alike offenders by using hidden face information. For extraction of moving objects, PRA matching is used to extract moving components, and brightness changes can be dealt with by an adaptive threshold adjusting in the proposed method. Moving objects extracted in the territory of the face region is extracted using the complexion, facial area, eyes, nose, mouth. The extracted information detected by the presence of these characteristics were likely to help judge a person. Results of the extracted face makes the recognition rate of possible murderers 90% so the usefulness of the proposed method was confirmed.

  • This paper proposes an effective method using Adaptive Boosting to track a person's head in complex background. By only one way to feature extraction methods are not sufficient for modeling a person's head. Therefore, the method proposed in this paper, several feature extraction methods for the accuracy of the detection head running at the same time. Feature Extraction for the imaging of the head was extracted using sub-region and Haar wavelet transform. Sub-region represents the local characteristics of the head, Haar wavelet transform can indicate the frequency characteristics of face. Therefore, if we use them to extract the features of face, effective modeling is possible. In the proposed method to track down the man's head from the input video in real time, we ues the results after learning Harr-wavelet characteristics of the three types using AdaBoosting algorithm. Originally the AdaBoosting algorithm, there is a very long learning time, if learning data was changes, and then it is need to be performed learning again. In order to overcome this shortcoming, in this research propose efficient method using cascade AdaBoosting. This method reduces the learning time for the imaging of the head, and can respond effectively to changes in the learning data. The proposed method generated classifier with excellent performance using less learning time and learning data. In addition, this method accurately detect and track head of person from a variety of head data in real-time video images.

Human Face Recognition System Based on Skin Color Informations and Geometrical Feature Analysis of Face (피부색 정보와 얼굴의 구조적 특징 분석을 통한 얼굴 영상 인식 시스템)

  • In this paper, we propose the face image recognition algorithm using skin color information, face region features such as eye, nose, and mouse, etc., and geometrical features of chin line. In the proposed algorithm, we used the intensity as well as skin color information in the HSI color coordinate which is similar to human eye system. The experimental results of proposed method shows improved extraction quality of face and provides adaptive extraction methods for the races. And also, we used chin line information as well as geometrical features of face such as eye, nose, mouse information for the improvement of face recognition quality, Experimental results shows the more improved recognition as well as extraction quality than conventional methods.

  • Skin color is a very important information for an automatic face recognition. In this paper, we proposed a skin region extraction method using the MLP(Multi-Layer Perceptron) and skin color model. We use the adaptive lighting compensation technique for improved performance of skin region extraction. Also, using an preprocessing filter, normally large areas of easily distinct non-skin pixels, are eliminated from further processing. Experimental results show that the proposed method has better performance than the conventional methods, and reduces processing time by 31~49% on average.

  • In this paper, we propose a method about producing skin color model adaptively in input image and face detection. The principle process which we proposed is finding eyes candidates by applying the eye features to neural network, and then using the around color to find the distribution of color value. There will be a verification process that producing face region by using color value distribution which is detected as skin region and find mouth candidate in corresponding face region; if eye candidate and mouth candidate's connection structure is similar with face structure, then it can be judged as a face. Because this method can detect skin region adaptively by finding eyes, we solve the rate of false positive about the distorted skin color which is used by existing face detection methods. The experiment was performed about detecting the eye, the skin, the mouth and the face individually. The results revealed that the proposed technique is better than the traditional techniques.
