The CMA and MMA blind equalization algorithm has the inevitable large residual error caused by mismatching between the symbol constellation at a steady state after convergence. Stop-and-Go algorithm has a very superior residual error characteristics at a steady state but a relatively slow convergence characteristics. In this paper, we propose a SAG-Flagged MMA as a new adaptive blind equalization algorithm with a Stop-and-Go flag which follows a flagged MMA in update scheme of tap weights as appling the flag obtaining from Stop-and-Go algorithm to MMA. Using computer simulation, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm has an enhancing performance from the viewpoint of residual ISI, residual error and convergence speed in comparison with MMA and Stop-and-Go algorithm. Algorithm has a new error function using the decided original constellation instead of the reduced constellation. By computer simulation, it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm has the performance superiority in terms of residual ISI and convergence speed compared with the adaptive blind equalization algorithm of CMA family, Constant Modulus Algorithm with Carrier Phase Recovery and Modified CMA(MCMA).

Underwater Acoustic Channels (UAC) have inherent sparse characteristics. The traditional adaptive equalization techniques do not utilize this feature to improve the performance. In this paper we consider the Variable Adaptive Subgradient Projection (V-ASPM) method to derive a new sparse equalization algorithm based on the Minimum Symbol Error Rate (MSER) criterion. Compared with the original MSER algorithm, our proposed scheme adds sparse matrix to the iterative formula, which can assign independent step-sizes to the equalizer taps. How to obtain such proper sparse matrix is also analyzed. On this basis, the selection scheme of the sparse matrix is obtained by combining the variable step-sizes and equalizer sparsity measure. We call the new algorithm Sparse-Control Proportional-MSER (SC-PMSER) equalizer. Finally, the proposed SC-PMSER equalizer is embedded into a turbo receiver, which perform turbo decoding, Digital Phase-Locked Loop (DPLL), time-reversal receiving and multi-reception diversity. Simulation and real-field experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has better performance in convergence speed and Bit Error Rate (BER).

This paper relates with the performance improvement of SE-MMA (Signed Error-Multiple Modulus Algorithm) adaptive equalization algorithm that is used for the reduction of the intersymbol interference due to the distortion which occurs in the communication channel for the transmission of 16-QAM nonconstant modulus signal.. In the conventional MMA, the fixed modulus value that is second order statistics of transmitting signal were used, and the SE-MMA was introduced in order to the simplification of the algorithm's arithmetic operation. The SE-MMA have a fast convergence speed than MMA, but it has a problem of degradation of equalization performance in the steady state due to the arithmetic simplification. In this paper, we propose the new algorithm AV-SE-MMA (Adaptively Varying-SE-MMA) that uses the adaptive varying modulus in order to obtain the error signal for updating the adaptive equalizer coefficient, and its equalization performance were confirmed by simulation. In this paper, the performance of SE-MMA and proposed algorithm were compared, and the equalizer output signal constellation, residual isi, MSE and SER in order to confirm the robustness of noise were used as performace index. As a result of performance comparison, the AV-SE-MMA has better performance in output signal constellation, residual isi and MD compared to the SE-MMA, but it was confirmed that the AV-SE-MMA has similar in the SER performance that means the robustness to the noise.
In 3-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), many studies on reducing setup error have been conducted in order to focus the irradiation on the tumors while sparing normal tissues as much as possible. As one of these efforts, we developed an image enhancement and registration tool for simulators and portal images that analyze setup errors in a quantitative manner. For setup verification, we used simulator (films and EC-L films (Kodak, USA) as portal images. In addition, digital-captured images during simulation, and digitally-reconstructed radiographs (DRR) can be used as reference images in the software, which is coded using IDL5.4 (Research Systems Inc., USA). To improve the poor contrast of portal images, histogram-equalization, and adaptive histogram equalization, CLAHE (contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization) was implemented in the software. For image registration between simulator and portal images, contours drawn on the simulator image were transferred into the portal image, and then aligned onto the same anatomical structures on the portal image. In conclusion, applying CLAHE considerably improved the contrast of portal images and also enabled the analysis of setup errors in a quantitative manner.
Blind equalization is a technique for adaptive equalization of a communication channel without the aid of training sequences. This paper proposes a new blind equalization algorithm. The advantage of the new algorithm is that it has the lower residual error than the GA (proposed by Godard) and Sign_GA (proposed by Weerackody et al.). The superior performance of the proposed algorithm is illustrated for the 16-QAM signal constellation. A Rummler channel model is assumed as a transmission medium. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared to the GA, Sign_GA and Stop & Go Algorithm (SGA). The simulation results demonstrate that an improvement in performance is achieved with the proposed equalization algorithm.
Blind equalization of transmission channel is important in communication areas and signal processing applications because it does not need training sequence, nor does it require a priori channel information. Recently, Tong et al. proposed solutions for this problem exploit the diversity induced by antenna array or time oversampling, leading to the second order statistics techniques, fur example, subspace method, prediction error method, and so on. The linear prediction error method is perhaps the most attractive in practice due to the insensitive to blind equalizer length mismatch as well as for its simple adaptive filter implementation. Unfortunately, the previous one-step prediction error method is known to be limited in arbitrary delay. In this paper, we induce the optimal delay, and propose the adaptive blind equalizer with multi-step linear prediction using RLS-type algorithm. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the proposed algorithm and to compare it with existing algorithms.

Histogram equalization is extensively used for image contrast enhancement in various applications due to its effectiveness and its modest functions. In image research, image enhancement is one of the most significant and arduous technique. The image enhancement aim is to improve the visual appearance of an image. Different kinds of images such as satellite images, medical images, aerial images are affected from noise and poor contrast. So it is important to remove the noise and improve the contrast of the image. Therefore, for this purpose, we apply a median filter on MR image as the median filter remove the noise and preserve the edges effectively. After applying median filter on MR image we have used intensity transformation function on the filtered image to increase the contrast of the image. Than applied the histogram equalization (HE) technique on the filtered image. The simple histogram equalization technique over enhances the brightness of the image due to which the important information can be lost. Therefore, adaptive histogram equalization (AHE) and contrast limited histogram equalization (CLAHE) techniques are used to enhance the image without losing any information.

This paper deals with the performance comparison of adaptive equalization algorithm, CMA and MMA, that is used for the minimization of the distortion and noise effect in the communication channel at receiver.. We confirmed the application possibilities of the point to point or point to multipoint digital transmission technologies by analyzing the performance of MMA which is changing the error function of CMA that is the possible algorithm of fast equalization by relatively simple arithmatic computation compared to the other method. In CMA algorithm, we need the PLL for the amplitude compensation only and not possible to phase compensation inherently. But in MMA algorithm, we confired that the amplitude and phase of received signal can be compensated by computer simulation. For the comparison of algorithm, we used the essential performance index, convergence characteristics and residual isi. The result of performance comparison of algorithms, the MMA has good in convergence characteristic and the CMA has good in residual isi that is used for the amplitude compensation.

In this paper, we proposed and analyzed the performance of the adaptive switching equalization for SC-FDMA system. It is well known that SC-FDMA system have a fairly similar structure to OFDMA system. Furthermore, SC-FDMA system has great advantage of low PAPR compare to OFDM system. However, this system often suffers from wireless channel characteristics such as multipath fading and increased channel impulse response and so on. To reduce this channel influence, it strongly requires efficient adaptive equalization. Therefore, the proposed system operated upon two modes namely, ZF mode for slow speed and MMSE mode for high speed. From the simulation results, we can confirm that the proposed scheme has more efficient performance from the system complexity point of view. So we can expect that the proposed system will be applied design of 3GPP LTE uplink.

This paper is concerned with the DW-MCMA(Dual Weight vector Modified Constant Modulus Algorithm) adaptive equalization algorithm using the dual weight vector in order to improve the convergence characteristic and residual inter-symbol interference which are used as the performance index for an adaptive equalizer. The equalizer is used to reduce the distortion caused by the inter-symbol interference on the wireless and the wired band-limited channel that connect the transmitting system and receiving system. The CMA is widely known as the representative algorithm for equalization. In order to transmitting the mass information with a high speed through the channels, a fast convergence speed in the equalizer performance that is able to minimize overhead needed for equalization is acquired. In this paper, By the computer simulation, we confirmed that the proposed DW-MCMA has the faster convergence speed and the smaller residual inter-symbol interference than the conventional CMA and MCMA.
