In this paper describes a design of Adaptive high gain observer. The gain of the observer is properly set up using the fuzzy control and adaptive high gain observer that have a superior transient characteristic and is easy to implement compared the existing method is designed. In order to verify the performance of the Adaptive high gain observer which is proposed in this paper, it is compared estimate performance of High-gain Observer and Adaptive High Gain Observer with the computer simulation. Effectiveness of the proposed high gain observer is proved from the simulation to compare the case with a speed sensor to the case with Adaptive high gain observer in the speed control of DC servo motor.

Advances in information and telecommunication technology increasingly reveal the potential of computer supported education. However, most computer supported learning systems until recently did not pay much attention to different characteristics of individual learners. Intelligent learning environments adaptive to learner's preferences and tasks are desired. Each learner has different preferences and needs, so it is very crucial to provide the different styles of learners with different learning environments that are more preferred and more efficient to them. This paper reports a study of the intelligent learning environment where the learner's preferences are diagnosed using learner models, and then user interfaces are customized in an adaptive manner to accommodate the preferences. In this research, the learning user interfaces were designed based on a learning-style model by Felder & Silverman, so that different learner preferences are revealed through user interactions with the system. Then, a learning style modeling is done from learner behavior patterns using Decision Tree and Neural Network approaches. In this way, an intelligent learning system adaptive to learning styles can be built. Further research efforts are being made to accommodate various other kinds of learner characteristics such as emotion and motivation as well as learning mastery in providing adaptive learning support.

In general the design methods of adaptive filter are divided into two categories, one is based upon the local parameter optimization theory and the other is based upon stability theory. Among the various design techniques, the LMS algorithm by steepest-descent method which is based upon local parameter optimization theory is used widely. In designing the adaptive filter, the most important factor is the convergence rate of the algorithm. In this paper a new algorithm is proposed to improve the convergence rate of adaptive firter compared with the commonly used LMS algorithm. The faster convergence rate is obtained by adjusting the adaptation gain of LMS algorithm. And various aspects of improvement of the adaptive filter characteristics are discussed in detail.
Primary goal of adaptive observers would be to estimate the true states of a plant. Identification of unknown parameters is of secondary interest and is achieved frequently with the persistent excitation condition of some regressors. Nevertheless, two problems are linked to each other in the classical approaches to adaptive observers; as a result, we get a good state estimate once after a good parameter estimate is obtained. This paper focuses on the state estimation without parameter identification so that the state is estimated regardless of persistent excitation. In this direction of research, Besancon (2000) recently summarized that most of adaptive observers in the literature share one common canonical form, in which unknown parameters do not affect the unmeasured states. We enlarge the class of linear systems from the canonical form of (Besancon, 2000) by proposing an adaptive observer (with additional dynamics) that allows unknown parameters to affect those unmeasured states. A recursive algorithm is presented to design the proposed dynamic observer systematically. An example confirms the design procedure with a simulation result.

Underwater vehicles play a very important role in underwater engineering. Water-tight junction box (WJB) is one of the key components in underwater vehicle. This paper puts forward a pressure self-adaptive water-tight junction box (PSAWJB) which improves the reliability of the WJB significantly by solving the sealing and pressure problems in conventional WJB design. By redundancy design method, the pressure self-adaptive equalizer (PSAE) is designed in such a way that it consists of a piston pressure-adaptive compensator (PPAC) and a titanium film pressure-adaptive compensator (TFPAC). According to hydro-mechanical simulations, the operating volume of the PSAE is more than or equal to 11.6 % of the volume of WJB liquid system. Furthermore, the required operating volume of the PSAE also increases as the gas content of oil, hydrostatic pressure or temperature difference increases. The reliability of the PSAWJB is proved by hyperbaric chamber tests.

This paper presents the study results on the design of the correction filter to improve the azimuth error estimation of the high-speed guided missile launched from the warship after the transfer alignment. We theoretically proved that the transfer alignment performance is determined by the accuracy of the marine inertial navigation system and the observability of the attitude error state variable in the transfer alignment filter, and that most of navigation errors in high-speed guided missile are caused by azimuth error. In order to improve the azimuth estimation performance of the correction filter, the multiple adaptive estimation method and the adaptive filters adapting the measurement noise covariance or the process noise covariance are proposed. The azimuth estimation performance of the proposed adaptive filter and the existing Kalman filter are compared and analyzed each other for 8 different transfer alignment accuracy cases. As a result of comparison and analysis, it was confirmed that the adaptive filter adapting the process noise covariance has the best azimuth estimation performance. These results can be applied to the design of correction filters for high-speed guided missile.

This paper describes a design driven approach to drive intelligent test plan generation based on adaptive use case (3,5). Its foundation is an object-oriented software design approach which partitions design schema into design architecture of functional components called “design component”. A use case software development methodology of adaptive use case approach developed in I.I .T is employed which preserves this unit architecture on through to the actual code structure. Based on the partition design schema produced during the design phase of this methodology, a test plan is generated which includes a set of component and scenario based test. A software metric is introduced which produces an ordering of this set to enhance productivity and both promote and capitalize on test case reusability, This paper contains an application that illustrates the proposed approach.
In this paper we propose direct and indirect adaptive controllers for a nonlinear multivariable steam generating unit(200MW). In the direct adaptive scheme the estimation of the controller parameter are achieved from tracking error, while in the indirect approach the unknown parameter of the boiler system is estimated by the Hopfield network-based identifier. The performance of two proposed adaptive controllers is shown through simulations.

This paper presents a new approach to the design of adaptive control system using DSPs(TMS320C31) for robotic manpulators to achieve accurate trajectory tracking by the joint angles Digital signal processors are used in implementing real time adaptive control algorithms to provide an enhanced motion control for robotic manipulators. In the proposed contorl scheme, adaptation laws are derived from the improved Lyapunov second stability analysis method based on the adaptive model reference control theory. The adaptive controller consists of an adaptive feedforward controller, feedback controller, and PID type time varying auxillary control elements. The proposed adaptive control scheme is simple in structure, fast in computation, and suitable for implementation of real-time control. Morever, this scheme does not require an accurate dynamic modeling nor values of manpipulator parameters and payload. Performance of the adaptive controller is illustated by simulation and experimental results for a SCARA robot.

Electric vehicle body has to be subjected to uniform load and requires auxiliary equipment such as air pipe and electric wire pipe. Especially, the cross beam supports the weight of passenger and electrical equipments. This need to use adaptive design in initial design stage to gain economy through interchangeability between many kinds of components. This study performs the topology optimization by the concept of homogenization based on optimality criteria method which is efficient for the problem with a number of boundary condition and design variable. Therefore this provides the method to determine the optimum position and the shape of circular hole in the cross beam and then can achieve the weight minimization of electric vehicle body.
