This paper presents a fuzzy system that estimates the optimal bit allocation matrices for the spatially active subimage classes of adaptive transform image coding in noisy channels. Transform image coding is good for image data compression but it requires a transmission error protection scheme to maintain the performance since the channel noise degrades its performance. The fuzzy system provides a simple way of estimating the bit allocation matrices from the optimal bit map computed by the method of minimizing the mean square error between the transform coefficients of the original and the reconstructed images.
This paper proposes a bit allocation algorithm using adaptive bandwidth for ADSL that uses the DMT technology. In certain cases for high attenuation loops the conventional algorithms are unable to assign data bits to the higher frequency tones, due to the power spectrum mask limitation recommended by ANSI Standard, even if the total power budget is not expended. In the proposed bit allocation algorithm, adjacent empty tones that would not be used merge into single tone, then additional bits is assigned to the merged empty tones. Because additional bits is allocated, most of the available power is used. The proposed algorithm show that total bit increase in about 2~9% bits more than about conventional "water-filling" and "bit removal" algorithms and that is able to use about 93% of the available budget Power
In this paper, an adaptive minimum transmit power modulation scheme under constant data rate and fixed bit error rate (BER) for the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system is proposed. It adjusts the modulation order and allocates the transmit power to each spatial sub-channel when meeting the user's requirements at the cost of minimum transmission power. Compared to the other algorithm, it can obtain good performance with lower computational complexity and can be applied to the wireless communication system. Computer simulation results present the efficiency of the proposed scheme. And its performance under different channel condition has been compared with the other algorithm.
In this paper, we investigate how to do resource allocation to guarantee a minimum user data rate at low signaling overhead in multi-cell orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) wireless systems. We devise dynamic resource allocation (DRA) algorithms that can minimize the QoS violation ratio (i.e., the ratio of the number of users who fail to get the requested data rate to the total number of users in the overall network). We assume an OFDMA system that allows dynamic control of frequency reuse factor (FRF) of each sub-carrier. The proposed DRA algorithms determine the FRFs of the sub-carriers and allocate them to the users adaptively based on inter-cell interference and load distribution. In order to reduce the signaling overhead, we adopt a hierarchical resource allocation architecture which divides the resource allocation decision into the inter-cell coordinator (ICC) and the base station (BS) levels. We limit the information available at the ICC only to the load of each cell, that is, the total number of sub-carriers required for supporting the data rate requirement of all the users. We then present the DRA with limited coordination (DRA-LC) algorithm where the ICC performs load-adaptive inter-cell resource allocation with the limited information while the BS performs intra-cell resource allocation with full information about its own cell. For performance comparison, we design a centralized algorithm called DRA with full coordination (DRA-FC). Simulation results reveal that the DRA-LC algorithm can perform close to the DRA-FC algorithm at very low signaling overhead. In addition, it turns out to improve the QoS performance of the cell-boundary users, and achieve a better fairness among neighboring cells under non-uniform load distribution.

The implementation of IEEE 802.15.6 in Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) is contention based. Meanwhile, IEEE 802.15.4 MAC provides limited 16 channels in the Superframe structure, making it unfit for N heterogeneous nature of patient's data. Also, the Beacon-enabled Carrier-Sense Multiple Access/Collision-Avoidance (CSMA/CA) scheduling access scheme in WBAN, allocates Contention-free Period (CAP) channels to emergency and non-emergency Biomedical Sensors (BMSs) using contention mechanism, increasing repetition in rounds. This reduces performance of the MAC protocol causing higher data collisions and delay, low data reliability, BMSs packet retransmissions and increased energy consumption. Moreover, it has no traffic differentiation method. This paper proposes a Low-delay Traffic-Aware Medium Access Control (LTA-MAC) protocol to provide sufficient channels with a higher bandwidth, and allocates them individually to non-emergency and emergency data. Also, a Contention Differentiated Adaptive Slot Allocation CSMA-CA (CDASA-CSMA/CA) for scheduling access scheme is proposed to reduce repetition in rounds, and assists in channels allocation to BMSs. Furthermore, an On-demand (OD) slot in the LTA-MAC to resolve the patient's data drops in the CSMA/CA scheme due to exceeding of threshold values in contentions is introduced. Simulation results demonstrate advantages of the proposed schemes over the IEEE 802.15.4 MAC and CSMA/CA scheme in terms of success rate, packet delivery delay, and energy consumption.
New and handoff calls control mechanisms are the key point to wireless cellular networks. In this paper, we present an adaptive algorithm for dynamic channel allocation scheme with guard channels and also with handoff calls waiting queue ensuring that handoff calls take priority over new calls. Our goal is to find better tradeoff between handoffs and new calls blocking probabilities in order to achieve more efficient channel utilization. Simpy is a Python based discrete event simulation system. We use Simpy to build our simulation models to get analytical data.
EPON(Ethernet Passive Optical Network)는 적은 비용으로 고품질 서비스를 제공하기 위한 차세대 기술로써, EPON을 구성하는 모든 ONU(Optical Network Unit)들은 한정된 업링크 채널을 나누어 사용한다. IPACT(Interleaved Polling with Adaptive Cycle Time)와 SLICT(Sliding Cycle Time)방식에 대해 살펴보고, 새로운 대역폭 할당 방식인 DRSM(Dynamic Right Sizing of Maximum-windows)을 제안한다.
