  • This paper proposes a routing establishment method for improving path stability in mobile ad-hoc networks. In mobile ad-hoc networks, the network topology is highly dynamic due to the node mobility unlike wired networks. Since the existing methods are based on the shortest path algorithm with the minimum hop count regardless of the path stability, it could lead to packet loss and path disconnection in mobile ad-hoc networks. In particular, if control packets and critical data are transmitted on the unstable path, it causes serious problems. Therefore, this paper proposes one approach in order to minimize packet loss and path disconnection by considering the node mobility. After the destination node receives multiple RREQ messages, it selects the stable path through the proposed MinMax algorithm according to the node speed.

  • Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are self-organized networks that do not rely in their operation on wired infrastructure. As in any networking technology, security is an essential element in MANET as well, for proliferation of this type of networks. But supporting secure communication in MANETs proved to be a significant challenge, mainly due to the fact that the set of nodes in the network can change frequently and rapidly and due to the lack of access to the wired infrastructure. In particular, the trust model and the authentication protocols, which were developed for wired and infrastructure-based networks, cannot be used in MANETs. In this paper, we address the problem of efficient authentication of distributed mobile users in geographically large networks. In particular, we propose a new authentication scheme for this case of MANETs. The proposed scheme exploits Randomized Groups to efficiently share authentication information among nodes that together implement the function of a distributive Certification Authority (CA). We then evaluate the performance of authentication using Randomized Groups.

  • The intrusion detection system is one of the active fields of research in wireless networks. Intrusion detection in wireless mobile Ad hoc network is challenging because the network topologies are dynamic, lack centralization and are vulnerable to attacks. Detection of malicious nodes in an open ad-hoc network in which participating nodes do not have previous security association has to face number of challenges which is described in this paper. This paper is about determining the malicious nodes under critical conditions in the mobile ad-hoc network and deals with security and vulnerabilities issues which results in the better performance and detection of the intrusion.

  • In this paper, we consider the limit of the previous works for ad-hoc network, then propose a dynamic routing scheme which employs a 2-tier hierarchical structure. We adopt the advantages of proactive and reactive routing scheme for efficient network management. We define this method as NSDR(New Secure Dynamic Routing) scheme. We also propose a trustworthy authentication and key management for the proposed ad-hoc network. We currently study the possibility that ad-hoc networks can provide a service such as key management and authentication for the next generation mobile network.

  • This paper analyses the message complexity of TDMA ad hoc MAC protocols. Since the network resource of ad hoc networks is limited due to the multiple interferences and the contention-based wireless channel, the scalability issue is one of the main research topics in developing ad hoc algorithms. Simulation demonstrates that SMACS protocol has the lowest message complexity, whereas TMMAC has the highest. In addition, it is found that since the effect of unicast dominates in the message complexity compared to other factors with an increasing number of nodes, Z-MAC tends to have the property of linearity, whereas BMA and TMMAC show exponential increases in their complexities.

  • Ad hoc networks are a type of mobile network that function without any fixed infrastructure. One of the weaknesses of ad hoc network is that a route used between a source and a destination is to break during communication. To solve this problem, one approach consists of selecting routes whose nodes have the most stable link cost. This paper proposes a method for improving the low power distributed MAC. This method is based on the context awareness of the each nodes energy in clustering. We propose to select a new scheme to optimize energy conserving between the clustering nodes in MANET. And this architecture scheme would use context-aware considering the energy related information such as energy, RF strength, relative distances between each node in mobile ad hoc networks. The proposed networks scheme could get better improve the awareness for data to achieve and performance on their clustering establishment and messages transmission. Also, by using the context aware computing, according to the condition and the rules defined, the sensor nodes could adjust their behaviors correspondingly to improve the network routing.

  • In cognitive radio networks (CRNs), unlicensed users sense the licensed spectrum bands and opportunistically access them without interfering operations of licensed users. Especially, in ad hoc networks, the MAC layer plays an important role in coordinating unlicensed users access to the spectrum and, thus, a number of MAC protocols have been studied recently. In this paper, we comparatively examine MAC protocols in cognitive radio ad hoc networks (CRAHNs). First, we categorize the protocols on the basis of common control channel (CCC) requirements and further review major implementations for each category. Then, we make a qualitative comparison of the protocols in terms of inherent characteristics and performance.

  • Ad-hoc networks do not rely on a preexisting infrastructure such as Access Points(AP) in wireless network infrastructure. Instead each node participates in routing by forwarding data for other nodes. It makes required broadcasting to transmit packets to the whole network. In that part, each node tries to transmit data without any information about the other nodes. Therefore it causes duplication of transmission and waste of power. This paper presents adaptive probabilistic broadcasting schemes based on packet reception counts to alleviate the broadcast storm problem for wireless ad hoc networks. In this algorithm, each node calculates efficiency broadcast probability. Simulation results for the proposed flood algorithm are also presented.

  • Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are a practical application class of wireless ad hoc networks, which consist of moving vehicles equipped with radio communication capabilities that collaborate to form a temporary network. This paper addresses issues and protocols of multihop routing in such emerging networks in the context of safety and infotainment applications. Due to the highly dynamic mobility of vehicles, frequent link breakage and short connection time are inevitable and, thus, the routing is a challenging task and interest for many researchers and industrial community. The frequent and dynamic change of topology makes the topology-based routing unreliable but the position-based routing more effective. The position-based routing consists of the location service which maps a node id to a geo-graphical position and the forwarding scheme which selects the next hop based on geo-graphical information of the node, its neighbors and the destination. The routing techniques are further categorized into geographical forwarding, trajectory forwarding and opportunistic forwarding based on the forwarding scheme. In this paper, we first present the distinguished properties of VANETs and the challenges and intractable issues posed in designing the routing protocols, followed by the comprehensive survey of existing routing protocols. Then, the different routing protocols designed for VANETs are compared in terms of characteristics, performance and application domains.
