Objectives : The purpose of this case is to report the improvement after treatment on the patient who has chronic pancreatitis with pseudocyst. Methods: We treated the patient with oriental and western medical treatment from 22nd February 2007 to 24th March 2007. We checked the patient with VAS score and Abdomen CT. Results : After treatment Pain, dyspepsia, itching sense and general body weakness were improved, VAS score changed from 10 to 0 and cystic lesion decreased on Abdomen CT. Conclusion : This case shows oriental medical treatment has useful effect on chronic pancreatitis. More research of chronic pancreatitis is needed.

Background: This study was conducted to evaluate the clinical effect of acupotomy, a newly upcoming acupuncture treatment method for a dorsal wrist ganglion cyst. Methods: A patient with a dorsal wrist ganglion cyst was treated with acupotomy under ultrasonographic guidance. The symptoms caused by the cyst and size of the cyst under ultrasonographic observation were used to evaluate the effect of the acupotomy treatment. Results: The numeric rating scale score reduced from 7 to 1.4 throughout the treatment period. The size and swelling of the cyst decreased following acupotomy treatment. Conclusion: Acupotomy had a positive clinical effect in the treatment of a dorsal wrist ganglion cyst in this case. Further studies are required for its additional retrospective application.

This study was performed to investigate the effect of acupuncture in dogs with experimentally induced thoracic disease. Twenty four dogs and 16 cats for the heart study, were divided into four groups(each of 6 in dogs, each of 4 in cats): laserpuncture, electroacupuncture, acupuncture and control group. Heart disease was induced by partial pericardiectomy, and then treatment was done once daily for 4 days. The acupoints used were Xin-shu and Nei-guan. The effect of acupuncture was evaluated by clinical symptom, blood chemical values, electrocardiogram(ECG) and histopathological findings. In dogs, acupuncture group revealed relatively fast recovery and laserpuncture group revealed secondly fast recovery after treatment. In catsl lasewuncture group revealed relatively fast recover and acnpuncture group reveaBed secondly fast recovery after treatment Sixteen dogs for the lung study, were divided into flour groups(each of 4) : laserpuncture, electroacupunchuf, acupuncture and control group. Lung disease was induced by partial lung lobectomy, and then treatment was done once daily for 4 days. The acupoints used were Fei-shu and Shen- zhu. The effect of acupuncture was evaluated by clinical symptoms blood chemical values and histopathological findings. Acupuncture and laserpuncture group revealed relatively fast recovery compared with other groups.

Backgrounds and Purpose: Hypertension is a common origin for stroke, heart disease, etc. Clinical management is needed to prevent these diseases. It has been said that auricular acupuncture treatment can be used for the control of hypertension. In this study, we studied the effects of auricular acupuncture on mild hypertension. Materials and Methods: Clinical study was performed on 22 stroke patients who didn't take the antihypertensive drugs. They were admitted in Kyunghee University, Hospital of Oriental Medicine. We checked patients' 24-hour blood pressure by Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor and did auricular acupuncture treatment for one day and rechecked blood pressure for 24-hours. We compared the blood pressure between, before, and after auricular acupuncture treatment by Wilcoxon test. The acupuncture points were KOHYOLABJUM, NAEBUNBI, SHINMUN, SHIM, KANGABJUM. They were all on the auricular. Results: After auricular acupuncture treatment, systolic and diastolic hypertension decreased significantly(p<0.05), but heart rates didn't change significantly. Conclusions: These results suggest that Auricular acupuncture treatment may be used for antihypertensive purpose. About the efficacy and safety, further study is needed.

In the Literal Study on the Effect of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Treatment on the Bungru, the results were as follows. 1. The Bungru means an abnormal bleeding of femail genetalia. and is devided to Bungjung and Bungha. 2. The etiological factors of Bungru are heat of blood, asthenic coldness. asthenia of chong and ren channels. deficiency of blood, deficiency of vital energy, stagnated blood. and asthenia of spleen & stomach. 3. In the frequency of practical use in Acupuncture treatment, the order was Ren channel, Bladder meridian. Liver meridian, Spleen meridian and Kidney meridian. 4. In the frequency of practical use in Moxibustion treatment, the order was Extra Points, Ren channel, Bladder meridian, Spleen meridian, Liver meridian and Kidney meridian. 5. The most using points of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Treatment on the Bungru were Samumgyo(Sp6), Taechung(Liv3), Hyoihae(Sp10), Umgok(B10), Kihae(CV6), Chung-guk(CV3), Kwanwon(CV4), Unbaek(Spl) and etc. 6. The charicteristics of the most used points were nourishing the spleen, regulating the middle warmer, cleaning the blood, promoting blood circulation, activating blood circulation, promoting the vital energy, regulating the obstruction of vital energy, nourishing the kidney and so on. 7. In the new Acupuncture therapy, Ear-acupuncture, Head-acupuncture, Foot-acupuncture and Skin-acupuncture were used.

The aim of this study is to observe the spread and implementation of acupuncture as an official medical treatment in France. This research is based on the study of the scientific magazine produced by the Association of Acupuncturist Doctors of France from 1945 to 2008 as well as medical and sociological studies. Western medicine was introduced and spread in Korea about one hundred years ago and is the foundation of modern Korean medicine. Nowadays it is more commonly employed than traditional Oriental medicine. Oriental medicine was introduced in France in the 17th century but only acupuncture gained notoriety. The French Faculty of Medicine officially chose to legalize acupuncture after WWII but only allowed doctors to study acupuncture. It takes three years to obtain an Inter-University Degree(DIU) in acupuncture therapy. Why would the Faculty of Medicine make a holistic treatment system official that is in opposition to the systematic treatment method of the Western medicine? The second question posed is, does Western Academia still recognize acupuncture as a viable treatment method? The final question addressed is, has acupuncture any real impact on medical treatment of the French Society?

The aim of this study is to collect and analyze clinical studies on acupuncture therapies of Post-stroke depression, and to suggest a method on study about acupuncture therapies. In this thesis, electronic searches were performed. Also, 6 major journals associated with oriental medicine in Korea were searched manually. Through searching, 27 studies were selected and analyzed. There were 24 controlled studies and 3 non-controlled studies. Treatment methods were acupuncture, electronic-acupuncture, eye-acupuncture, abdominal-acupuncture and pharmaco-puncture. The percentages of these treatment method were 59.2%, 29.6%, 3.7%, 3.7% and 3.7%, respectively. Acupuncture points such as GV20, PC6, ST36, SP6, LV3, GV24, GV26, LI14, LI11, H7, ST40, GB20, GB34 and LI15 were used. In comparison of results before and after acupuncture treatment, there were statistically significant improvement in 26 studies. Based on the results from above, the studies on acupuncture for Post-stroke depression needs to be standardized and more appropriate high-quality study models should be introduced.

This review examined and analyzed clinical research trends in the treatment of compression fractures in traditional Korean medicine using case studies. Accordingly, 5 web databases were searched using relevant Korean and English terms. Based on predefined exclusion and inclusion criteria, 16 case studies were selected, analyzed, and classified according to the journal, publication year, participants, chief complaints, affected vertebrae, treatment and evaluation methods, and improvement. The case studies reported various treatment methods, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, physical therapy, cupping, moxibustion, and band training. All 16 case studies reported the use of combination therapy. All 23 cases reported in these case studies demonstrated improvement in chief complaints, and none reported any side effects.

Objective : This study is designed to find out the effects of the Bee Venom-Acupuncture on knee joint with osteoarthritis. Methods : We are investigated that outpatients suffer from knee joint pain deciphered at the division of Acupuncture in Jaseng oriental medicine hospital from the 13, July 1999 to until 11, November 2000. We make an estimated of the score from both before or after its treatment about 70 cases of diagnostic patient with the osteoarthritis of knee joints by biochemical method and X-RAY analysis, we observed in the progress of symptoms. Results : These results found that sex distinction with a disease caused much more female than male at the ratio of 1 to 5.36 in the proportion of males to females, jobs is mainly ranked with a housewife and approximately 82.9% of cases before our hospital have ever treated at the other clinics or hospitals. On the hand, the distribution interval of a case history is mainly followed by disease in below 6 month, interval of the period-treatment is mainly gone within 3 month and frequency of treatment is examined into 11 to 15 times, more than 16 times and below 10 times, respectively. We are estimated with the score of functional barrier from both before or after its treatment aganist osteoarthritis' patients and produced in the usefulness from the totally point of fields except the aid-device after its treatment. In summary, these results demonstrated that Bee Venom, Acupuncture enhanced more than 82.9% to the improvement of treatment and P<0.05 considered to be statistically significant. Conclusion : These results suggest that Bee-venom Acupuncture may be play a role in the significant usefulness and have need of actively application for the clinical trials against osteoarthritis'patients.

Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of oriental medical treatment on Bell's palsy patients receiving chemotherapy. Methods : A clinical study was done on 3 patients who were diagnosed and treated as Bell's palsy at the Dep. of Acupuncture and Moxibustion College of Oriental Medicine Daejeon University. The effects of combined treatment of acupuncture, herbal medicine and physiotherapy were evaluated with Yanagihara's unweighted grading tool. Results : 1. There was significant improvement on Yanagihara score after treating with Gunbiikqi(健脾益氣) method, which was based on pattern differentiation as Hur(虛證). 2. Three patients commonly complained heaviness, dyspepsia, anorexia after receiving chemotherapy and oriental medical treatment showed significant improvement on the symptoms. 3. All three cases received herbal medicine treatment and liver function test. Three cases showed normal range of liver function during and after the treatment. Conclusions : Oriental-medicine treatment did not damage in liver function and showed significant improvement on Bell's palsy in patients receiving chemotherapy. But it is considerd that we need to keep limits in getting enough patients.
